TGS Trailer ahoy!

It seems like the video didn't render properly or something, cause clearly there were videos that showed the same exact clips which were more fluid then the trailer shown. I think the main blunder though is they should have put a disclaimer noting *This is an early alpha build* rather then just show clips in which people would think well this is how it's going to look? Leaving out those simple words though sadly does leave it open to criticism since people will assume the game will look like that even though it'll be months til the game is actually released.

And each step have been met with people who defend SE from the people who complain, regardless of if the complaints have been unreasonable or not. It definitely goes both ways!

Anyway, as the last trailer showed, if they do it right, people will be satisfied. It was pretty well recieved both within and outside of the community.

Hi Rukkirii,

Thanks for the update. We understand mistakes happen, but the Marketing person who uploaded this latest Video / released it should really be reprimanded. It's just shocking that through the entire Square Marketing Team in Japan (assistants, interns, etc.), NO ONE noticed how bad the frame rate was on this official TGS Trailer and thought to ask the higher ups about it? :(

I think what's even more disappointing is considering Yoshida-san's own words from his Producer Letter:

I realize Yoshida-san is talking about both the trailer and the game itself, but his positive, "We want to make sure it's as good as possible!"-attitude is what made me (and many others) understand why he didn't release his Gamescom footage / trailer.

Yet, here, at THE biggest Game Show in Japan - Tokyo Game Show - Square's Marketing Team releases a completely crappy video (great music! HORRIBLE frame rate)?!

Where's the Quality Assurance / Focus on making sure Square's putting their best foot forward in releasing something to the public?

It's not Yoshida-san's fault; it's the entire chain of Marketing personnel... how NO ONE noticed how bad their Video looked before they uploaded it / released it to the world?

I agree with Reinheart and many others:

Yoshida-san please REMOVE that video and re-upload it when you get the Frame Rate / Encoding Issues worked out. :(

I just want to see Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 shown in the best light, especially to all the potential new players seeing it for the first time.

Strangely enough, QA doesn't check things like trailers...

From what he said. The trailer on the show floor doesn't have the frame drops. So it's not really effecting anyone at the show. Just all of us people who can't fly to Japan and watch it :(

Or the people in japan who didn't attend, that and the rest of the world interested enough to watch out for ARR, is about 99% of people who are thinking, "What a piece of garbage"

This is a big marketing misstep. That said its still of a bit of a step back from the limit break trailer- that is whats boggling for me. The thing that is also just infuriating is that some tiny things like "prealpha build" or like "player character trailer" would make this like way more acceptable. Instead of "sure seems empty."

Also not checking your video for playback when uploading to the internet- FOR SHAME. That should have been fixed in an hour ;/.

Think is General public TGS doesn't start till tomorrow so no one in Japan HAS gone to TGS yet except media outlets. So they saw a unglitched one and wrote good things about the video. They then posted without knowing the glitchy video on their sites where everyone who hasn't gone to TGS yet (again it opens to general public on Saturday) have not seen the trailer themselves. I will be going and give my own opinion to you guys on if the said official released big game trailer is in fact frame rated correctly.

TLDR: General Populacy Japan has not had the ability to attend TGS yet because it is not open till Saturday.
