Plus, it's not really easy to learn an instrument, and not everyone is musically-inclined. Playing a virtual instrument isn't any major achievement, and you won't get into a major orchestra for learning how to. So arguing about using MIDIs to play stuff is pointless. The only real "crime" here is the use of 3rd party tools, otherwise literally who cares.
"People didn't notice my effort but they prefer the guy using MIDIs"... is your ego truly that fragile?

I turned off performance volume anyway. Too many people who just sit in one place hitting one or two notes over and over to be obnoxious. Might be missing some genuinely good music, but I'm also missing plenty of trolling, so on the balance I'll live with it.
