I queue for Final Steps of Faith as a WHM on purpose to help people clear, knowing 80% of the fight basically revolves around competent healers due to the insane amounts of AoE damage and tankbusters going out. (Plus I've yet to have a single clear queuing as Bard.)
So far, I've had one run that resulted in a vote abandon, four that cleared after a 30-minute struggle as everyone learned how to deal with mechanics along the way, and most shockingly enough...
I had a run just now that consisted of a new tank, a new co-healer, and two new DPS. We only had ONE wipe, and that was to add phase when we forgot to explain to the new tank that he had to grab one of the adds immediately before it could cleave the group. It was pretty mindblowing how amazingly well that run went. It was a double WHM setup too, and I found it very easy to heal that group. I'm now realizing it's really a fight where our raw group healing really shines through...

While we could handle single target damage decently well, the amount of AoE damage you had to burst heal made me wonder just how doable it is with two SCH. I mean, I'm sure it is doable, but in a burst AoE situation, Succor isn't going to handle it all that well trying to stack against itself.Quote:

I know Scholars are generally considered irreplaceable in raids, so I kind of wonder if the devs designed Nidhogg this way to test how they could possibly break that perception through boss design instead of nerfing the class. -

Unlikely, since a SCH/Dinural AST combo I did clear with, everything went well. Enough protection via shields plus regens for extra heals, we crushed it when everything went right. Just with the amount of damage the hits did, the fact we could really only heal roughly 300+150 shield except for every 30 seconds made any large amount of AoE damage an issue if people weren't being smart elsewhere. I do believe Akh Morn meshes with that 30 second mark (I had Sacred Soil up for the ones that did hit), so it's possible, but the double SCH basically have to be completely on their game swapping who is casting what when.
If it does, I never timed it properly to match up with it to test. Will have to keep that in mind when I go in next time, since I've been using Eos while in there for the higher healing output.Quote:

Since Akh Morn is magical damage, I wonder if Eos couldn't also help with that. Actually, Eos in general seems great for the fight. Fey Covenent, Fey Illumination, Adlo + Deployment Tactics, then Emergency Tactics + Succor, etc. With double SCH, you get twice the protection, just coordinate it.

06-11-2016, 07:12 PMMeiUshuI play SCH almost exclusively, in Nid norm, I abuse alot of emergency tactic, deployment tactic , succor for that big attacks where we all stack...and it works marvels under sacred soil, and one medica II from WHM or a few of those and you are all up I even kept the entire group up except WHM that died before it happened,without a problem...with the help of Eos too. So yeah SCH in there needs to have or should have their stuff out of CD and use it it works marvels if I dont have either Sacred soil up or on obne or the others it becomes a bit difficult... once I have applied everything then I used succor abuse of it and the healer with me using his medica/helios works too makes marvels 5x. I have yet to try in Nid EX but for normal this works . With 2 SCh works the same, provided they use in turn their major skills, even if they dont succor does the trick for quiet a lot...yep.. although if I can keep up an entire group alone, it shouldnt be a problem and I am by far the worst healer ever...sooQuote:

Reading all these Final Steps horror stories actually makes me scared to queue for trial roul ever again (I'm FINALLY home again during weekdays) but I hit lore cap from spamming Aquapolis with friends, so I haven't yet really had the, uh, "pleasure" of getting FSoF on roulette.
When I ran it with my friends the 8 of us cleared him first try, even if these complete mothballs I play with stopped doing anything at 1% so I, the designated Dragoon Lover 6,000, am the one killing my boy Eggnog.
