no no, i think people had a perfectly normal conversations until some people tried to twist things in a disgusting way or indirectly accusing people to have sinister thoughts because they talked about biology(lore) in a fantasy game :D im sorry for the misunderstanding, since english is not my strongest!

Midlanders max height is what 6 foot? How is that seen as short, or is it because they are shorter then females that is the issue.

Do you mean people, or do you mean me? I think clarification is needed, because as far as I recall, it wasn't "people". I'm not sure who was accusing anyone of anything in the past few pages, "indirectly" or not. Who is the "accuser", and who is the "accused"?

It's short when you put them alongside all the males, elezen is the midle now xD
I think midlander were suposed to be the middle ground in ARR, but we kept getting tall races for males again and again so the balance is fucked up now.

If we know anything, what we see is going to be what we get. A lot of people are happy with what we see. Myself included. SE did a fantastic job, and I'm pretty disappointed in this thread, and some other that were made, that we went so quickly from being excited that SE listened to us to having a fit that they aren't exactly what some people wanted.

I just feel like putting this out there, but I absolutely love how the male viera turned out. It feels so surreal male viera are being added. Our voices were heard, and I deeply appreciate all the work the graphics team has put into this. It might sound kind of crazy, but I've still been watching reaction videos to the male viera announcement even today (including ones I've watched already). I seriously can't wait for the benchmark.

I haven't played WoW much, but I think the racial gear looks pretty nice, especially the greaves/clawed boots or whatever they're called.

Exactly! This is such a big deal! Perhaps it's just because I'm a longtime WoW player, but I really can't say how much love this fills me with.

i think the Racial gear is ajusted from the pag'lthan gear tbh, the top looks like the caster one with some extra bits on. Thats not a bad thing though.

It's weird that some people think they didn't develop from 13 to 20 something at all..

The thing is, add more characters of different heights and that balance shifts. The way to get the humans back to looking like the average height they are is to add more average-height characters.

The three really tall races all have a gimmick of being that size. Elezen are meant to be tall compared to humans. Roes are meant to be huge compared to everyone. Au Ra have the massive dimorphism of tall men and tiny women.

Putting more races up that end of the scale undermines the point of them being there in the first place. "If everyone is special then nobody is."

I think it's why Hrothgar didn't end up being as big as people expected either.

In any case, I still consider Midlanders to be "the average" and the races above them range from "tall" to "really tall".

I don't see enough Roes, Elezen or m Au Ra running around at max height for my max height viera to feel anything other than giant.

So it's a bit strange to hear people say that it would be "making us feel small" by comparison.

They seem to be taller than max height midlander
So they are very likely to have very similar heights, assuming the trailer ones are mid height, male sliders tend to have a tiny bit more in terms of difference from min to max
In that case they're not much shorter than the shortest male elezen, which is pretty tall imo.

This lmao, so few players use thoose races, adding 1 bishonen tall race will add more variety in game.
Instead of an army of small ppl, with 1 or 2 lonely tall ppl.

Considering they originally said they'd be something like an Elezen body mixed with Miqo'te facial features and more recently said they made sure to not make them too similar to male Miqo'te I'd be very surprised if they were so short to the point people would consider them to be "smol".

I don't think they care as much about doing something radically different with regards to height as some players seem to, especially if it mostly just seems to boil down to "it'd be super interesting because we don't have that in the game yet'.

But anything is possible I suppose.

I say this as a tall guy IRL I get it is fun to shit on people who are 6'0 or 6'1 as short when you are taller but let us be real by no stretch is that short.

male viera and female viera have similar forms of gender expression.
but the role they play in their society different.

i was being sarcastic tho, i‘d love if m. viera are just about the height of the females, which imo is tall enough. most popular races are smaller, m. viera would still tower most of the played races out there.

I'm not saying that male viera being 7'5 is the best idea (i'm not for it) but i understand why ppl ask for it.
Some ppl want to be tall but when they look at the tall races, it doesn't look great. And i find it funny when many player agree with that. Elezen have a long body, long neck, small head... It's not for everyone lol
At least midlander, miqote or highlander have normal proportions on the smaller side. Meanwile on the tall side you have hourglass dragon dude and slow ass hulk.
Male viera with at least a size similar to females will add something different. Making them smaller than that will just create a new miqote. They look too mutch alike already imo.
And yes 6'0 is not short, but we have many races taller than that, ppl forget that theese races are almost not played xD even as a min female viera you start to feel tall sometimes imo.

Basically that, I'm struggling to not pop a fantasia and go back to aura, they are not free of problems either... But I just want to play viera, and by viera I mean tall rabbit men with an amazing lore I'm very fan of (for me same size of females is already tall enough), I already dislike how they didn't consider Matsuno's opinion when creating them, taking some feedback from the community to create a midget bunny boy or male miqo 2.0 would definitely ruin the race for many people that want what viera is supposed to be, and add nothing new.

Anyway, they are what they are, you can see them however you want, twinks, teens, bishounen or whatever, that's not gonna change what is already done, for me, they look more or less how they should, and I'm pretty sure I can make one of my liking with the options we have seen so far... some facial hair would be nice tho.

Just hope and pray the hairstyles and hats work on day 1 which I fully expect them not to.

Male Midlander isn't the average height, they're short in the male height spectrum; and that's more or less the same height female Viera has. When people bring up female Viera I don't understand why they do so. A tall female will always be short when compared to males, except female Roegadyn (but their slider allows them to be).

Male Viera should be compared to their male counterparts, they should be approaching male Elezen height. Yoship described them to be Elezen with Miqo'te face, so they should hold true to that. This was the same scenario with female Viera, female Elezen but proportioned bodies.

People already have male Miqo'te to get their male teenager fascination over.

Female viera are 6'3 max, that's already aproaching Elezen height (even if it's just the minimum). That's why ppl keep talking about that. It's good for ppl who don't like to be too tall but not extremely small either. That's why i say it can be the minimum.
If it's something taller, i imagine something closer to female elezen height. In between male highlander and male elezen, just like you said.
Getting past Elezen is meh, because male viera looks too good. Take the height advantage off Elezen and you loose a good reason to choose them.
Even not giving facial hair/scars to male viera makes sense, even if i don't like it, because of how bad Elezen look.

Wait are we talking in terms of the game? Or IRL that is what is confusing me since people have mentioned more realistic portions which mindlander would fill that mark because by most people's standards 6 foot is on the tall side or short by any spectrum unless we are compare them to other races in the game. Then if that is the case why are people bringing up real world portions.

Male Midlander are about 6 f which the converter tells me is 182.88 cm. That's a very tall man irl. If that's short, again where do some people live that men are all over 2 meters? Some other planet or?

In the FFXIV male spectrum male Midlander are very short; people bring up real life when it's convenient, but the moment real life brings up something like race, gender orientation, or something they don't like all of a sudden "fantasy fantasy!!!"
