Bad Breath hitting me when I'm behind the mob a full 2 seconds before the cast ends. 100 Ton Swing killing me at 200 paces away. This is BS.
So yeah, this game is unplayable on Myth Tome reset day. I'm getting hit by lag spikes that last five-ten seconds every ten seconds, just like last week (after the hotfix, so... what the hotfix fixed broke something that makes the game unplayable on a certain day). My friends wanted me to go as SCH for a Titan HM run and... yeah. I could not do anything.
Imagine having this happen: Titan drops bombs, lag spike happens and then nothing happens for fifteen seconds. Suddenly lag ends and apparently we're on the Heart Phase. Somehow, I survived the explosion and Geocrush. I was then knocked off the edge by a Landslide while I was lag spiking again... apparently (one moment I was up on the platform with everyone, suddenly everyone stopped moving... and then I'm KO'd on the ground below).
my last bump for the ones that still hope / still play.
adios.
142 pages.
1. 4. 2.
A hundred and forty two pages.
No response. This is frankly ignorant.
Welp turned auto renew off from my subscription now, going to let my account expire if SE refuses to mention anything to there players.
Still waiting on my gm ticket as well SE, been 21days now.
It's really frustrating to have such an obvious game breaking issue, and no response from SE to at least give some kind of indication of the planned course of action to remedy it, if anything.
As a huge FF fan I want the game to succeed really badly but it's getting harder to justify further subscription without at least having some idea of what the plan is for this issue.
Well I've just turned off my automatic renewal, SE you are not getting another penny off me until I know this issue is fixed.
I suggest everybody else does the same, speak with your wallets guys !
142 pages and no answer its simply sad.
This thread makes me feel http://ecologyadventure.edublogs.org...iver-Otter.jpg
Not only did I cancel my sub but I won't renew it anytime soon. No reply is just soooo insulting towards the playerbase.
Oh, and you know what, the Beauty salon wishlist thread got a dev's response.
Guess we aren't important to SE, at all.
It is much cheaper to implement beauty salon.
1) Can you imagine how much time will it cost to rewrite netcode? (and it will cost even much more if they have already fired their netcode crew; which they should've done)
2) Can you imagine how much money will it cost to build datacenter in europe and move EU servers there? (to decrease latency for european playerbase by more than a half)
By the way, about EU servers:
We have single duty finder group for both EU (not geographically, lol) and NA servers. Guess where master servers are located? In NA. What will happen if we move "EU" servers from there? SqEx will be forced to create another DF group purely for EU players. Yeah, in Europe. Not happening. Ever.
Working in software development I am well aware of that. What we ask for is an acknowledgment from the devs that this is being addressed.
And if this were related to server location how do you explain that US or Canada-based folks are having this issue, whilst I'm playing other MMO's on US-based servers with no issue at all?
Let's push to 200 pages!! Gogo fix the game.
Cancelled my subscription.
If you've used ping/tracert to troubleshoot your issue and are certain the problem lies in the traffic routing, getting a vpn or vpn-like provider is likely your only option on the nights where lag spikes make playing impossible. This can go for US players as well.
Before turning to such methods, do please do proper investigating to understand where your problem truly lies. If you feel the problem is routing related, as mine is, give BattlePing a try. They let you trial mode for 20 minutes. That's long enough to spin up, log in, and hop into dungeon or primal HM duty finder to test (easier if you got friends/FC to insta-queue you in for testing).
Quoting myself from a reply I made on Technical Support thread earlier in hopes that others can identify with similar issues and test things out for themselves to try and at least get themselves a workaround to this issue if they so choose.
(Final note before long quote: I fully agree that players shouldn't have to resort to these methods to make a game playable. For the time being, I'm willing to pay extra to be able to play reliably on my guild's raid nights, but know that not everyone will feel the same way. If it's a breaking point for you, that's fully understandable.)

I also live in Phoenix using Cox and have had numerous experiences with lag.
The lag started in the early weeks of the game. Monitoring pings/tracerts, I observed that 80% of our traffic time was being spent bogged down in Cogent servers. My wife and I would regularly experience small lag spikes and rubberbanding. Eventually this went away for a few weeks.
Last Monday, the lag started back up again. This time, observing traceroutes indicated our ISP changed us to route through TINET servers, where we again observed a single hop consuming 80% of our travel time to the SE servers. Ping tests indicated our response time was up 40ms from the norm (90-100 to 130-140) with regular 'time out' intervals. The lag was unbearable, and my wife and I would routinely experience outright freezes lasting anywhere from 2-10 seconds. Tuesday through Sunday, we had zero lag issues.
Yesterday comes, Monday again, and we experience the exact same issues (arguably worse, numerous 15+ second screen freezes). Ping was back up to 130+ with regular 'time out' occurrences. And for some reason, the IP of the hop taking the longest appeared to be located in France...
Monday is our one raid night each week where we can guarantee everyone in our FC is on. We started doing a quick Garuda HM kill for someone, my lag was 'ok', but my wife froze up at the first tornado rotation phase and didn't unfreeze until the phase had ended and we had Garuda a few seconds from death. We went to Coil next, where my wife locked up for over 30 seconds after zoning in (her character could move during all of this, but she didn't see server side updates). She and I relogged and we tried to engage ADS. We both kept having constant 2-3 second lag spikes until we finally got hit with a 7+ second spike that got us killed.
Not wanting to waste another Monday raid night, my wife and I logged out, downloaded BattlePing, spun up the free trial (20 minutes) and quick queue'd into Titan for a test run. Ran flawlessly. So we both just paid for 30 days and proceeded to clear turn1-4.
It's sad that it had to come to that, but there doesn't appear to be many other choices available to us if we want to continue to raid reliably on nights where I can only assume the traffic to the servers is high, since it seems unlikely that this will be consciously fixed by either our ISP or SE.
Addonex
P.S.
We had two other FC members that live in Las Vegas that are also on Cox. They've experienced similar (though not as glaring) lag issues the past two Mondays as well. Those two also had to download/pay for BattlePing in order to raid without lag last night.
Nothing special to explain here. >Crappy netcode<™. For some from NA networking problems are huge. And nobody argues with it.
And at the same time for EU players... khm... double it. For some - triple it.
P.S. SqEx have majority of their playerbase located in Japan (first) and NA (second). Why should they even care about ~5% minority? :P (maybe at the start it was something like 15%)
bump for justice
bumping again
Replying just to keep the thread going.
I'm lucky. I live right next to the MTL servers. I haven't done titan. It could be a bitch for me, tho there are obviously work-arounds like knowing the rotation and moving out before the skill even happens. That much is clear. But a .3s lag (that's what it amounts to in effect) is still unacceptable.
My problem so far lies with stun and position skills. It's annoying when you have stun available when a mob casts an aoe, but by the time it registers, the aoe has already gone off and you just wasted a stun. It's annoying as a monk to stun a mob but still have it continue to run away or turn around as you start a flank or behind skill and don't do full damage or the skill doesn't complete because of it. It's less of a problem when the mob is stationary, but it's still a problem. When I stun, the mob should be stunned right when the skill lands.
Can't imagine how shitty this must be for people who need to do titan.

Along with our subscriptions
ofc there are ways to avoid it, learn the pattern etc. etc. But saying that the "idea" is to learn the pattern ... you really think that? It just doesnt work properly. That is the problem. I like to dodge things, its fun. It works in lotsa games. other mmos with dodging and timing work perfectly fine and when i dont dodge right i know that i sucked. But being out of a circle for quite some time, sometimes even extremely far away lol... still getting hit... is just extremely bad done and no fun at all.
Have not logged on for about a week now, seems I did not miss anything important.
Hotfix to twister because FFXIV net code is bad.
Watch the Twintania video released by Bluegartr. Best FC in the game can't dodge position update mechanics.
Just joining this thread.
I'm one of those who can complete Esuna's cast bar to 100% while I'm running.
According to the ping, my latency is 150 ms.
I don't know how 150 ms latency gets me to complete 1 second cast time Esuna while I'm running.
Bizzump, because this will be the reason I cancel my subscription
Broken mechanics = dead community, mark my words.
FIX THAT CRAP -.-
I want to add my support. If anything ends up killing FF14, it will definitely be the issues addressed in this thread.
Just found this post earlier today, it made me happy to know I am not alone in experiencing this. I thought for a long time that maybe it was something on my side; a hardware issue etc.
What does concern me though, is that I haven't seen any mention from Dev.'s etc as to any type of plan to fix things. What horrible customer service for a pay to play game, if this is how things are left. To ignore the player base is inexcusable.
I wish all the best in getting something positive achieved to remedy things.
This thread needs a crown!
People usually blame lag because they die, majority of the time, they did die due to lag, they aren't making it up. I've been hit by so many abilities from Titan where I knew I was out of the range of the AOE. Now every time I run away from an AOE I think "Well I might dodge this one...." Even though I know I can, and do, dodge everything titan throws at you.
Let me just say.... I tottally agree...
Two 4 man level 50 dungeons is kind of.... depressing.
I have full Darklight.... and all the STR acessories too to boot....
I'm really tired of running these same two dungeons...
Sure there is CM.... hard modes....
Its not enough in my opinion....
Thank god for sub classes though and achievments I guess.
Cancelled as well until this is dealt with
This is staying on the first page.
What happens in this game is that the castbar may claim you have about 2s to get out of an AE but you really only have 1.5s due to the inherent lag. If a game like WoW is trying to duplicate the same difficulty, they'd obviously just have the spell cast in 1.5 seconds (since they don't lag like FF14). Now, the guys who can't dodge them in FF14 still won't dodge an equivalent AE in any other normal MMORPG, but at least it'd be obvious on your screen that you were indeed inside the circle before castbar was over. Sure people will complain about the AEs cast too fast or whatever, but no one will be saying 'but I dodged that!' And this is what SE doesn't get. There are plenty of unreasonably hard mechanism in any other game, but no one ever goes back and say, "but I dodged that!' when complaining about the said games. In WoW or anything else, you know when you didn't dodge something. In FF14, you do not, and that gets people angry with the uncertainty.
I haven't logged on in awhile either. Playing the game atm doesn't feel like 'fun'.
-Even with the jump/casting trick I still get hit by aoes with latency. & It makes it hard to tell if someone *is* or is not playing bad. Because you cannot see their screen.. haha on your screen they are sitting in the aoe all derp da derp.
-Other than Gathering jobs ... there's no reason to go out into the beautiful world they've constructed. Yes, there is FATEs!.. But once you are lv50 you only do FATEs for seals or materia farming. (or Odin/Behemoth but lol)
-Getting Mythology AF... not too hard right? A little bit of grinding. BUT what about getting mythology AF for another job?
I don't particulary hate the game. I want to like it! I really do but I find myself drifting.
