I hope they get their work flow straightened out so they can work and live better.
because if a week (assuming :p) break delays a patch for two months that means they did two months work in a week.
That can't be good for their health.

Well that's a shame. The problem with November is that a lot of really good new titles are coming out in Novemeber (Fallout 4 anybody?) I'm not going to want to play a content patch over that.
Could always be worse. When I think of how long it takes for a patch to hit and bring new content to a game, XIV or otherwise, I remember that World of Warcraft, during Pandaland, had over A YEAR of the same raid content. Makes everything else seem not so bad by comparison.
Shouldn't we technically be comparing Heavensward to other MMO's first expansions?
I have no problem with the patch being till November. Our group just started A3S so won't be done with that for a while. This also gives me time to level all my crafters from 50 to 60. Lastly this also affords me the time to level my MNK from 52 to 60 and gear him decently so I can use him for Void Ark as the queues for tanks is atrocious.
Sick of hearing the WOW comparisons. This is a new generation mmo with new generation expectations. Having played all years that ffxi was out and playing this since beta phase 2 I can confirm that this is how SE rolls. They postpone things much to their consumers dismay and then attempt to make up for lost time upon release, then subsequent fixes happen afterwards. The only thing that peeves me is the presence of class imbalances on CURRENT endgame content. We have jobs with new abilities that are still less than optimized while we see content releases featuring minions and glamour, or repetitive equipment iterations. All we ask is for the game to be optimized in its current state. Then again, I'm still one of the subscribers waiting for the Mac version to be somewhat respectable while I play on my pc with my subpar main, PLD. I can only take so much overgeared low level content before I crave the ability to participate in cutting edge content. Instead, I was forced to level other jobs as my new "main" in order to participate in cutting edge content while we wait another month+ for a minion game to be released. Kinda salty, admittedly and understandably so...
Edit: I'm happy with having some time to truly cap out my DoW and DoM (crafting/gathering ya right- another system that's still waiting for optimization.) Here's to hoping for some QoL and job balancing pre 3.1.
I'm mostly disappointed with Heavensward because it didn't really bring anything new to the table. Dungeons and Raids, just like 2.0... That's why I'm so excited for 3.1 (and thus disappointed with the delay), since the Airship Exploration stuff actually looks like a new event, rather than a rehash of the same thing...
I suppose Final Fantasy XI spoiled me... Treasure of Aht Urhgan came around (and was the Golden Age of XI...) and we had Assaults and Besieged. Wings of the Goddess (which was a disaster in the long run, but out the box...) came out with Campaign, which you could argue was the same as Besieged, but it was on a much larger scale. Granted, they weren't XIs first expansion, but comparing to the first expansion seems fairly arbitrary to me... I know SE can produce something brand new with an expansion, probably why I'm so disappointed I'm stuck waiting for 3.1 (for longer) for Heavensward to finally provide that...
