the new trial is too hard

It's a really easy fight as long as everyone (and I mean everyone) knows their role and executes them well. Entered a DF party to learn about the mechanics. I learn by doing, I can't just watch a video and get it. Afterwards, joined a PF group on my server, we all figured out who does what, where and when. Took about 3 tries to defeat him. First time the second bard wasn't doing cannons so I was the only one on them and on snares. Second try we got him down to 10% before we failed. Third try we got him to 3% as he destroyed the last cannons and burned him down.

I do enjoy the failed duty cut scene, nice added touch.

I went into the duty blind last night for my first attempt. I usually read over a quick strategy or watch a youtube video of the fight before I go into new duty's but I didnt want to risk spoiling any story so I just went in blind.... We killed it on our 2nd attempt... 2 or 3 others were first timers as well. I felt it was very easy and straight forward.....Im not sure how this would cause so many problems. You just keep all the adds on top of the boss and just blast everything with cannons and gg.

After playing different roles in this fight, I can honestly say what I've been saying(and complaining about) from the start, the fight itself isn't hard, it's the PUGs and people who seem to be sleeping on their job.
After getting better understanding of all roles I see the misakes people make and more and more I am 100% confident that it's not on me as a tank or as a canon guy or whatever.

Yes the green goop is useful, as we discussed earlier, but when I tell people not to spam it they don't listen, they spam it more than the 1st dps or the 2nd stun for the turtle thing, they cover the entire path with the thing as if we're playing splatoon for Christ's sake, then we have people who forget their towers and snares, but the worst are the DPS who don't listen and keep trying to mow down every god damn mob despite being told time and again that the boss is a dps race and that they should do their best to focus on its belly and leave the mobs for canons.

The biggest problem however is the fight being on its own time
there's no way to reset it or retry until it's done and you know you're going to lose but you have to keep doing it, this is where my anger came from last night and this is where the whole who's going to give me my 5 hours back comment you guys hated came from.

I don't mind losing
I don't mind repeating content
I mind wasting time.

Now you'll probably say something about my Zeta or Bear, sure I got those, but I did all that on my own time, it was my choice and I enjoyed every second of it.
The problem with this fight is that it's too long and without a way to reset the thing when you know it's not going well making it a huge time waster.

So, do I love this game? Hell yes
Do I think this fight is a-ok for an entry fight to the new expansion? HELL NO, especially considering many inexperienced people will always be flocking to it trying to get to the expansion and having issues in the process, big time.

Far less stuff? There is far more.

Things to learn how to/take care of:
-double/tripple healer: precast heals
-double/tripple tank 1: use defensives on the tripple atleast
-double/tripple tank 2: dont switch who is tanking the boss midfight, you will die from the double/tripple as healers will be precasting their heals on the wrong person.
[-Orbs: alternating them to reduce damage done.
-Orbs:(minor) avoiding the heavy debuff by not taking 2 orbs of the same kind in a row.
-Orbs:] dont let them hit the boss to reduce the damage he does with his aoe.
-Adds (minor): They do a large conal aoe. Avoid getting hit by heavy or you likely will get hit by this. Kill asap.
-Teleport: avoid the aoe, and be wary as he will likely do a double/tripple after.

-Black Hole 1: run away to let the debuff fall off before you are dragged inside.
-Black Hole 2: use personal buffs as they will be extended 10-fold, before you are dragged inside.
-Comet 1: soak them or get raidwide damage.
-Comet 2: soak a comet if you have the debuff on you and you will die (if not a tank)
-Rift: kill it before the center comet hits or you die. DPS note: its small so you have to be fast to spot it.

Those are all things you need to learn in that fight. Most of them will cause a wipe if handled incorrectly.(or ignored)

Yeah uh, every single primal fight uses such a mechanic...All of the 2 primal fights we have, right?
Even in those fights however, the object you need to dps is very easy to spot. And in a small room, and there arent comets to take care of meanwhile.

With an actual new group it is not a fight that is so easy to beat as you say.


Not saying the fight should be nerfed, but new players will have a far harder time with this fight then the Steps.

Nope, that's actually exactly what I did the fight as. It just really was not hard, at all.

To be honest, all the people talking about Chrysalis being hard is just as mysterious to me as me talking about Steps being hard probably is to all of you. All I can say is, I never had a hard time with the previous fight even when it was new, whereas my experience with this one is just maddening.

Not just that, but there is way less going on than in Steps. For most of Chrysalis you're not even dealing with any adds.

I was one of those healers, I was never told about it, and I still had no problem. Double Spark isn't enough to kill a topped off tank (and the long windup for Double/Triple Spark makes it easy to have the tank topped off), and by the time Triple Sparks start happening you already know what to expect.

I understand your frustrations. The fight is actually very straight forward, but my experience last night shows that for PUGs, nothing truly is. I ended up playing "raid lead" in the groups I was in, but people just don't want to listen sometimes. Kudos to those who at least try. We'd miss snares, dragonslayers, and I even had a healer who would run to the cannon and begin firing when they weren't the one on duty for it causing the DPS who was to stand there and then finally run back to the boss. Then said healer would leave the cannon when they wanted to heal...... You also get all those people who are just silent. "Who would like tower duty? .... Can someone please take towers? .... X take towers. ..."

The true difficulty is finding competent players. Other than that I really enjoy the trial. I'll probably try and set up a PF group when I get home.

I actually liked it. You need someone to give out orders and keep people focused. Its an interesting boss fight. Its less about how much damage can you do to the boss by whacking on it, but rather how good is everyone at organizing themselves?

i honestly dont think its too hard at all. This was alot of fun. maybe you just have some bad players with you. i ran this with a pug and once we got the strategy down, it was easy! we ran it 5 times and kicked ass on the 5th! GREAT TRIAL!
