In other news, I think Helicoprion is my nemesis fish. I ended up having to catch four of the other legendary fish twice now (don't ask) with no issues. I have done at least a dozen fog -> heatwave windows for Heli and have only gotten one bite that got away. The fact that sand leech shares with three other fish just makes it so I only get one, maybe two, hq storm riders each window. Argh!

Again, not sure if this is helpful or not but it seems like the majority of fog->heat takes place at around 00 hours and you ideally need the heat window to start at 08 or 16 for helicoprion window.

Some of the criteria for these fish is just down right ridiculous. I honestly cannot fathom what the SE people who come up with this were thinking.. or smoking when they came up with them.. other then to torture us instead of having fun.

I'm starting to wonder about Blood-red Bonytongue. It's the only fish in the game that I'm still missing and although I don't go for every single window, I've never had a single bite of it in 10+ windows. I've tried Clear->Fog and other weathers -> Fog and I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

99% of the time, the answer is nothing; RNG will be RNG. Clear/Fair -> Fog, 4 am - 12 pm, mooch off of silverfish, that's all you need. The rest is sacrificing lalafells to the fishing gods and praying for luck.

I think its just Fog during 0-10 am, similar to wotz knifefish, the bite rate seems pretty low

My god....I take back thinking Helicoprion seemed easy. What is WITH the weather window for this thing, seriously? Ever since I've had the stats to be able to get it, I've only seen the Overcast/Fog into Heatwave combo - in the 8am-8pm time slot - once. And that was yesterday when I checked on my work lunch break and couldn't actually play the game :P

I've been keeping track of weather for 9 hours already today and not once have the conditions been right :/ and it's not the first day either...even Shonisaurus seems more common than this. This is the only fish in the game I need, and it's making me paranoid of doing anything that will involve me being unable to get online in time should it pop :/ ha

Yeah, I just need Heli and Shoni too so there's a crap load of wait time in between. I think the conditions are as rare as each other.

My first attempt on Shoni was a HQ Mahar, but Shoni got away :( I'm using Haddock for this one, which puts me at Gathering 387/Perception 328.

Been now stuck on 111/112 fish for 4 weeks and counting. I play every day, and fish every Shoni window I see. I have 28 NQ Mahars on retainer and have lost 5 Shoni off HQ mooches. This quest is the closest thing that has come to making me quit this game since 1.0 alpha, and that's saying a LOT.

Both the Helicoprion and Shoni weathers are confirmed as the rarest weather->weather conditions in those two zones so you're right, they're as rare as each other.

I'm also on 111/112 but my nemesis is Blood-red Bonytongue. I feel your pain! That said, mine isn't affecting my ability to finish the quest so it's probably super frustrating for you guys :/ Good luck, virtual well wishes to you!

I finally caught Heli last week, but I hadn't really gone for shoni (maybe three times).

Ran into another higher fisher for the first time on my server (Famfrit). He was getting ready for the shoni window and I was next time him as the window started. Wasn't expecting much....
