I dont have to agree with the score neither with time the review at mmorpg was written in. I know that it will be outdated in 1 more day. For new readers this matters dont tell me that doesnt. If you dont know the whole story, and you wanna find out first informations you will look at the review. Most people do this, its natural.
If I would be new and wanted to try FFXIV I would find out some reviews here and there, for me a single is just a dust. I compare more reviews before I try. In this case review from July 18, 2011 is not different from other reviews that were written in september and so on.
Mmorpg's review poped out few days before first big update, it shows outdating informations and yes I am aware of this. But its showing bad mark to new players - that game is bad. thats all. I am not fighitn for that or this. This is just a whole fact, why I mentioned score. It matters for new players and it repels them back away from game itself.

The issue is with the review itself, the incorrect info, the suspect timing... and so on. Those are the things people are taking issue with.
You keep trying to reduce it all down to a bottom line of "people will see the score and figure the site thinks it's just a poor game". They may well... but then that's the impression they could have gotten from just about any other review out there.
Again... the score or the "impression" it gives, is not what is at issue.
It's the content, timing and delivery of the review itself that is in question. -

lol that's because it's a game. Games are about subjective experiences about what is personally enjoyable and variable across every single individual. It's nice to read reviews and be informed about what your buying when it's a graphics card or a cpu processor, or a bungee cord.
When you start reviewing subjective hobbies you're offering an opinion. That means that the same practicality does not apply for reviews of games as it does for regular items. Sorry to say but i don't pay much attention to video game reviews since no one but me is going to share my subjective desires. -
