I once had a Dragoon make a Zurvan farm party (before stormblood came out). Turns out, this Dragoon was new to Zurvan, and was dead almost the entire time. We asked him why he made a farm party when he hadn't even cleared it before. He said something along the lines of "I made the party, I can do what I want. And I want the bird". Wasted half an hour of our time, and we all left and blacklisted them.

For a change, no horror story! PF was incredibly empty for a night 2 after patch, and DPS queue was abysmal in DF (30+ min). But I tried PF anyway because I really wanted to clear Sigma and get the weekly drops. After waiting a while, I only got an RDM and a WHM who were also new to Sigma. Figured with a healer, DF queue wouldn't be so bad. Never waited longer than 4 minutes when we got down to it.

We all had a lot of fun and had some nice conversation in between fights. After clearing 1.0 through 4.0 all in a row, we took a commemorative photo. It's been a long time since I've had a cool little group like this that sticks together. If you two are here on the forums, I had a blast!

Apart from the new content being really fun for me, finishing Rabanastre is becoming a real obstacle, at least yesterday.

First try was 28 minutes in progress just to get abandon in the face, second wiped 2 times on Hashy when one whole alliance was dead even before first spheres and their healers couldn't stay alive. Then people started leaving and that was the end. Third time the same pattern. I guess it was not a good day for Rabanastre, and I wonder about today :(

Rabanastre has always had this problem. Honestly, I dunno why players continually have a problem with this fight on a consistent basis.

Since they removed the weekly restrictions this will now be the new place to farm gear or be farmed to get the coin to get upgrades for the allagan 330 gear.
What this means is fresh level 70 players are going to dive straight into it by the droves.Especially as they will need the gear to access Sigmascape.
Long story short.Except this place to get worse XD

I'm mostly playing healer in roulettes at the moment, because I got sick of healers that sit there and spam their cures on the tank. But yeah,

The new changes on WAR are kinda interesting. I did Expert last night and got a badass WAR that mass pulled like a champ. I won't lie... I was staring at my screen in desbelief. I BARELY had to heal him, it was great for a change lol. These several crit+dh Steel Cyclones are amazing. I DPS'd like crazy, things were so smooth. Why can't my runs be like that everyday? ; ;

In my experience it tends to come down to people just not having any concept of situational awareness. It's astounding how many times I've seen people bite it due to falling columns or completely miss their team markers in spite of the fact that they've been set up since the beginning of the fight. I've even seen people stand straight underneath the raised columns and just continue to merrily cast away even as the rest of the raid is booking it to the far side of the arena. This is the one fight out of all the casual content that punishes people who aren't willing to keep any eye out for mechanics and I think you can squarely place all the fight's woes on that aspect alone. People do not want to pay attention even when they're constantly dying.

Everytime a healer tells me it's ok to pull big, part of me dies inside because I remember how Unleash was so amazing in big pulls. :(

Cleared Sigmascape normal the first time last night, and I have to give major props to the healer that kept the fight going at V8N while everyone was trying to work out all the mechanics. The fight took forever, and I had to toss Verraise more in this single fight than I had in recent memory (possibly ever), and I had to keep Lucid constantly on cooldown, and my mp was still constantly strained from all the rezzing. Even with that though, that healer was incredible and more tenacious than our group had any right to expect (we ended up needing healer lb3 a few times, once after the wipe). Both of the FC members I ran with, one of which was the second healer, were also very impressed. I think I got a couple comms, one of them possibly from that healer, but I would have gladly given that healer a thousand comms for being so amazing and patient. As frustrating as things got, I'm actually somewhat glad since it made beating Kefka the first time all the more satisfying.

Bardam's Mettle yesterday: Tank tries to double pull after the first set of walls knowing I have no instant heals left because everybody who was anybody was standing in everything. Divine Benison wore off almost immediately while he was running, by the time he gets near the set of 3 wall mobs, he's at roughly 7k HP left. He doesn't even stop, and dies instantly as he gets the attention of the walls. Yep, not a good idea to even attempt that pull if you're squishy. Its actually a bad idea to even try it at all, even if there's occasionally a group that can handle it (they're rare).

I tried Hell's lid yesterday and by the end of it i wanted to cry.It was warrior,monk,ninja and me as the white mage and frankly things were going fine we wiped once on the second boss but that was it until the last boss,We tried 3 times but for the damn life of me I couldn't get one of the mechanics right and I knew I needed to leave because I was the problem and i didn't want to make my party suffer.They didn't say anything which really gave me a clue that I did indeed really need to leave,Guess i'm not gonna do hell's lid at all :c

Set up when into City raid, came in second boss, 2 DRK's ilvl 330's, I'm i334So. I was told that PLD are the new OT's which was kind of sad being the DRK I was playing with could not keep enmity properly while I was in on sword oath mode. When a PLD has to use Shirk to prevent enmity it's just plain sad. I play all 3 tanks and DRK is my favorite....Goes to show SE could updates job based on assumptions but will never fix the incompetence of a person who thinks they can tank.

I'm assuming the same thing. To check that out, just check the floor. The water bubble will follow the arrows marked like this:

If you wanna play it safe, just stand on the arrow's opposite direction and move inside the starting hexagon once the bubble moved to the second once.

Note that they will not move throughout all the floor like that. That's just an example. They move like 3 up to 5 (?) hexagons depending on the fight's phase.

That was my assumption for what mechanic it was as well, but you never know there could be another one(though I don't recall seeing another one other than that one that needed to actually be dealt with by everyone)

Don't let a bad run ruin it. Them not saying anything is really more a case of them not caring that you were having issues. You were a first timer, after all.

If they wanted you out, they would've kicked you, but they didn't, so it wasn't a bother.

Take a friend in with you next time if you need to back-up.

My tank died to something stupid in Rabanastre the other day so I asked if he was new and needed mechanics explained, and he got a big attitude with me over that because he had Ivaliacian gear on that glammed over and I guess I'm supposed to check everyone's gear before I ask a simple question. I told him to "just say no next time" and that made him even more upset because that's "telling me how to talk, LOL TRIGGERED". Like there's only one person in this conversation here who is actually upset and playing bad.

But in positive news, I managed to clear Jade Stoa ex on my fifth pull after going in blind while playing on a busted controller that will make me walk randomly.

So I'm doing a quest where you go in a purple field to rescue an npc and adds spawns in which you have to kill them. When I arrived at the location, I see that someone already spawn the adds for the quest. I was on a tank class and took the aggro, figuring we can kill them together quickly. But as soon as I took aggro, the person just went straight for the npc, and just leaves. It really took me by surprise cause in the open world I see people constantly helping other people out and to see someone just abandon someone who is helping them with their quest just makes me sad.

Prob reading way too much into this, sort of confused though why you mention the tanks mistake was "stupid" and that he was playing "bad" but then mention you went into an encounter with a busted controller that would make you walk randomly. Which does not seem all that bad but you brought it up so must have felt it hampered you enough to warrant bringing it up. Granted the tanks attitude was uncalled for, but why did you call his play bad, and his action stupid. Yet praise yourself for going into an encounter with a busted controller. Which as I said before is normally not all that bad, but since you brought it up clearly it must have caused you a few issues which in turn could imply you caused your group issues. Since if it was not an issue why bring up the busted controller part?

I also, didn't die because of my controller issues but I did take too long to run over and heal people during the last boss but overall came out with most of my party alive which overall wasn't too shabby given that the rest of the group locked out the new healer that was watching the cut scene.

The thing about the Jade Stoa is that it was a learning party, I was the last person who joined, and asked the rest of the party if it was cool for me to come along with a hardware issue and got the okay before we started. I communicated my issues and was clear about what was going on and my intent beforehand instead of getting emotional or saying nothing at all if a issue arised. I'm happy that the group I was with gave me the chance to accomplish that and that I was able to play well enough even with a obvious handicap to clear brand new content by applying myself and making an effort to be fair to my team.

I think a lot of runs in this game would go much better if people discussed things like that beforehand.

Did Sigma 1.0 yesterday (great fight btw) and we were seemingly having some troubles. People kept dying randomly and I couldn't really see why since not many mechanics were being missed, and damage seemed good enough. We wipe somehow and one of the healers threw a huge fit. Calling people out for not dodging and started trading vitriol with the MT. At some point the healer pulled his trump card, "I got a Genji weapon m8" to solidify how right he was and how wrong the party was. Second attempt, the healer sat down until he died and we eventually wiped due arguing happening while combat was in progress.

Healer gets booted and replaced and we clear with no problems and I think only one death. I love how salty people already were on DAY TWO. After that I also noticed no one would say hi or bye in any of the other fights. Too uptight too soon I swear

By no means was I trying to belittle you in anyway. English is not my native tongue so at times I have a hard time trying to convey my thoughts. Venting is cool, as I said I am overthinking things, just was seeking clarification. Ah no it's okay I have a lot of ESL friends and sometimes they kind of get stuck on things like that so I feel you.

I was just being petty when I said that and I don't think of that word as being any kind of serious insult. Like, you stub your toe on a table and you go "Oh! stupid table!". But I'm a Texan girl and we get rather colorful with our language when we actually are mad. I'd go into further detail but there's a a strict rule against cursing here and better people than me have been permabanned for breaking it.

Guys... Guys... Did you know, Provoke is part of the OT rotation even when there's no tank swapping mechanics and that it's not the OT's fault that it's so easy to rip aggro while doing it either? Everyone else is just bad and should be grateful that they're clearly being carried by a superior player.

Wow, I haven't been this triggered in a good while. Did a run on Hells Lid with a SCH, RDM, and a BRD. This is still patch week, so I tend to be very lenient about mechanics and all that. Plus, the SCH and BRD were new to the dungeon. Long story short, this RDM...every time he went into the boss arena, he would immediately start a countdown. This irks me because I have a certain way of starting a boss fight (throwing up FoF, defense mitigation, go into aggro combo while weaving oGCDs) in a dungeon. I let it go because I didn't think it was a big deal yet. Second boss, he does it again, almost as soon as I throw out the ready check. I cancel the countdown so the other two party members can let me know if they're good to go through the ready check.

The RDM once again throws out a countdown. Now I'm triggered. I say 'dude' in chat, and he responds with the same words. I left it at that, we beat the boss and continue on. From this point on, I start noticing that he's throwing out jolts and scatters as we approach enemies, before I have a chance to shield lob them. At this point, I start thinking to myself that I should just let him tank whatever he pulled. That's normally my rule because honestly, at level 70, you should know not to do this, especially when I started showing some annoyance by you starting a countdown.

At one point after I shield lobbed for a pull, he actually managed to take aggro. I let him tank the enemy for a few seconds before I pulled it.

Did he learn his lesson? No...no he did not. Did the countdown again on the last boss, and started getting frustrated with the two new players who were in Hells Lid for the first time. Honestly, I just wanted to kick him at this point. But I didn't. I hate the fact that this same person is on my server...gonna have to watch out for him if I ever see him again.

Seems like everyone forgot how to do Rabanastre with the patch. Got it as part of alliance raid roulette today only to get a group that wiped on first boss due to adds everywhere and a second set of golems on Hashbrown. Managed to clear somehow...glad I had queued it as RDM because I tossed out a dozen rezes minimum.

Decided to run it later for some creation tomes...just about the exact same results. Still cleared, but yeesh.

Did Susano with a few FC buds tonight, as a bunch are in SB now.

I get invited and queue in as AST, wjich I'm trying to relearn as I just picked it back up to finish the last bit of the Anima. Co-heal is SCH, go Diurnal, FC tank is explaining to sword to my man, who is a newbie tank, and we go.

Immediately notice many AOEs are being eaten, but 4 people were new (2 of which were FC mates), so it's just learning what Susano dishes out. I'm healing hard, my man is getting wrecked, people are getting hits, but at least my draws are good. I get hit with the stack and run for aid, only for three party members to share it.

Owie. I heal us and see my MT is dead just that fast. OT is on it, I rez, him, Susano goes into sword mode and we do it fine. Second time, I jokingly go to /hug my guy.... and click the sword! Oh shit.

No worries, this is story mode.... and I melt. Wipe. I got no heals. No biggie, I wasn't supposed to grab the sword, anyway XD

We go in again, and my cohealer dies from AOE spam. I rez her, and it times out. We get to the gaol part, and of course it's me, and half the party dies as I'm locked up, and we end up wiping.

Cohealer, buddy, you there? She responds that she's slogging a bit, we go back in, and it's pretty dang clear her fairy is on sic and she's probably dozing off at her desk XD

We win, she books it, and my FC mates there were amused at my solo heal job. Woof.

But, at least I know I can still AST.

A bit of TMI to start of the thread :) My main is on EU server. I have very, very recently created an alt on NA one to be able to play with my friend who transferred there.
In a year of playing on eu one I had maybe 15 stories where I just went mentaly 'eh?'. Two days levelling my alt and I am kinda seeing why there are so many stories on this thread.

1. In tam tara. I am as dps there and my friend as well. Two other mentor joins us (all the jobs are slightly irrelevant; I was on ACN though). I mentally shrug and just say that I am on my alt and it is a 'fake' bonus. Ok. We go. Quickly I notice that tanks HP is laying very very low. Like properly super low. I have healer on my main and that 'low' gives me jeebies. I throw physick his way several times to save him. Then she (healer) runs ahead and pulls another pack (brings it to us) while we are still finishing the last pack and when we finish new acquisition she runs in to trigger boss so we run into the boss room with seconds to go. Then after boss she runs off (I am clicking off the bulbs) and pulls big for us and the tank. At that stage I am constantly throwing physick his way otherwise death ahead. We wipe anyway. I type in, in the chat nicely asking not to pull for the tank (I am a bit hesitant to write to healer to actually heal him before he reaches the brink because ... well, 1 complain per wipe is enough). She explains that they are a couple and she was just messing with him. After that comment tho she stopped pulling ahead even though his hp levels were still a bit of a hazard (I stopped healing him because if he knows what is happening they can deal with themselves). We finished the run quickly after that.
Just a note. Yes I didn't notice the same surname (I don't have the habit of checking that stuff)... but it would be nice to just write ahead next time? Like: Hi, do you mind if I mess with the tank a bit? We are mates/sex slaves/whatever. And I would be all for it. I do mess with people myself if it is a full party of friends but with strangers without a notice? ^^'

2. Ifrit NM. I am still on ACN. The rest of the jobs are irrelevant (I am the only class there tho).
Me: Hi guys! I am on my alt here! So no worries I know what to do ^^ Let's have fun!

That still isnt acceptable(not that i think youre saying it IS Leo). Even if you jumped to 60 and story skipped you still had to level to 70, play through all the SB story, get through the patch 4.1 story and part of this weeks 4.2 stuff, then que for a brand new "Expert" dungeon. At a minimum they had to run 6 dungeons and 3 trials to get there - all of which are tuned more highly then the "starter" dungeons and trials - plus having run the dungeon once already to not be a new person anymore. Thats more then enough time to pick up at least the basics of dungeon etiquette. And being upset that someone else is new in content when said content is less then two days old? I almost never kick people(not counting disconnects/excessive AFK because duh), but it sounds like id have voted yes if youd initiated that one.

Have to Agree with KO here.
Its usually the overgeared experienced player with raid gear that does this.Simply because they are impatient and want to rush the dungeon as fast as possisble for their tomes.

Got bored earlier and decided to unlock CT on an alt just so I could have Alliance Roulette unlocked for any jobs I plan to pick up on said alts after maxing out her current main (WHM).

Labyrinth goes slightly okay. The Bone Dragon bit was a bit of a mess and the pads part was the usual hit or miss bit, but otherwise it was a decent run. Syrcus was definitely better as there were little to no issues.

But World of Darkness? It was way messier than any other WoD runs I ever had. 3 wipes to just Angra Mainyu. Namely due to the fact that my alliance's tank apparently kept zoning out and eating all the bad, as well as none of the other tanks thinking to grab the Ahriman adds that get summoned, thus killing the healers and DPS. Dragon boss was a bit of a mess as well, as no one wanted to kill the slimes. Cerberus was a slight mess too as the before mentioned tank of mine decided to pull him around (and when my coheal asked him to stop, he just responded with "I'm dancing"), but despite all the cleaves people got hit with due to the "dancing", it could have been worse.

It was somehow cleared, but that was seriously the messiest WoD I ever had to deal with, let alone heal. And I've ran/healed some WTF o'clock runs that weren't as messy as that was. I definitely felt for my coheal having to deal with that mess, especially at Angra since I kept getting ko'd due to either my stupidity (trying to rez and being hit in the face with eye beam or moving out of the debuff zone too slow and doubling my own debuff) or the tanks not grabbing adds and having my face eaten.

They need to lower the ilvl cap on those raids to be honest.If peole get punished harder for ignoring the mechanics they'll be eventually forced to actually do them or learn them if they dont know them.

...You have too much faith in people. More often than not, when people are faced with a situation like that they will vote abandon.

Ran Jade Stoa normal to wrap things up last night and get the last few tomes I needed for a piece of Mendacity gear. This was my second time running it, and we had at least two people new to the run. Perfectly reasonable, of course. In any case, I decided to test things out as SMN this time. I was pumping out some pretty good damage I felt, except it didn't take long to note this particular group was going to be more difficult to handle than the boss himself. One healer kept dying, which left the other healer to spend a lot of time rezzing them. I'm not sure if the RDM was also pitching in with the raising, but healing was notably suffering, and I also used up Swiftcast to rez someone at least one time that I remember. I didn't see who, but based on what I saw in the chat someone was repeatedly running into the first set of orbs he launches.

A lot of people were also having a hard time getting to the stack markers whenever Byakko grabs someone. A lot of times, I was the one grabbed, which got me killed once when people didn't get to the marker in time. Another time, I had been slammed and had only about half my HP, tried to make the second stack marker right after to soak the other person's damage, and hoping someone would heal me before the attack hits. But I think only one other person made it to the marker and I didn't get healed, so that killed me again. About the only times I was spared being grabbed was when Lucid Dreaming came off cooldown in time for me to use it before he did it. Now, I will admit I barely took a leg sweep that I probably shouldn't have, but even that didn't kill me. The group also had a hard time dealing damage on the tiger before it could launch its attack, in spite of the nice damage I did with Bahamut, DoTs, etc. We barely got the tiger down to maybe 20% HP before the attack went.

Basically I spent most of the battle trying not to get my rotations too badly thrown off and trying not to get killed by other players. In the end, I got rezzed after the stack kill, didn't get healed after, and maybe had enough time to reapply Tri-Disaster and do a round of Ruin3+Ruin2 before I ate an unavoidable double Storm Pulse and died again right when the boss died.
