I noticed the Scale/Horn colors change veeeery slightly if you change your character's skintone.
With a lighter skintone the horns lighten slightly and with a Darker skintone the horns darken.

Weird, if you check Hyunckel's screenshots above, it does look like they are black, or at least quite a bit darker...Hmm.

Okay, so... I went back to the benchmark and turned off all the shadows and extra graphical effects, etc. The sclerae are still grey.

But! ...This may be a far cry from the actual reason, after looking at this from different angles and lighting, I realised that this grey looks very similar to, if not the same as, the default grey (at least in Maya and Blender) on 3D objects when they are not coloured or textured. Could it be that the texture is simply missing on the Xaela males' eyeballs?! At least in the character creation side of things...

Thank you. I seem to always go back and tweak it a little. I wish I could get something less stern out of the face though. But, seeing the first image kind of gave me hope that he won't be angry all of the time.

I made a male Au Ra after seeing so many good ones in the thread. I'm getting attached to him, so now i can't decide between male and female. He's boring, but he has charm.

Now that I'm actually on my desktop....

Same character, two different settings. My graphics card kinda stinks but I cranked it up to maximum for character creation. Skin is actually a very pale blue.

I don't like how I can't seem to get lip color to change much unless I want it to go some neon color either. :/

You know I thought the same thing when I saw those eyes. Makes you wonder if it is a design choice or something someone forgot.

Only choice left is skin color. Either something from the purple-brown spectrum, or something from the gray spectrum. Will depend what goes best with my favorite armors.

Hardest choice in female Au'ra is voices. None of them strike me as particularly good, and I'm going to miss that one exhilarated Miqo'te laugh.

Xaela eyeballs are dark grey/black while Raen are regular white. I'd like the option to use either style on both clans. The black of the Xaela eyeballs made going with a dark eye color very weird looking without using a Limbal ring.

You were right. I went a little bit away from my usual look and it turned out to be quite nice. Or maybe smaller iris erased her bored look.
Hairstyle is completely optional since I still cant decide if I like ANY of available hair xD

I play on a PS4 and this is the best screenshot my aging laptop could give me when I played around with the character creator hahaha. I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to change races, but I think my Au'Ra is very pretty.

All this talk of the xaela eyeballs. They DID say that the benchmark wouldn't have all the options for au ra as they were going to be continuing to work on them right up until release. Its possible the xaela males will have normal white eyes later, we will get more facepaints, or hairstyles, or what have you.

Still not 100% certain if I'm going to make the switch on my main or not, but I have been slowly working on a design since the benchmark came out, and while I can't use the horns I want (don't like the face), my 2nd favorite design has a face I really like and I was able to come up with one I really like. It's just a shame the benchmark video really doesn't focus on your character at all, and when it does it's in poor lighting (plus you have to wait through almost the whole thing to get to that point.) I tried to keep the skin tone, eye color, height, bust and general face shape as close to my Miqo'te as possible, as it would be her transforming into an Au'ra if I did make the switch. I hope they add freckles for Au'ra :(

The male au ta for sure. I like the skin color the scale and how the face is not too narrow. Nice hair style and color it matches so well with the eyes

For example:

The only colors that would show a change were the odd looking pastels. Yes it was set to dark color and I tried every shade on far right. No change. Pastels on left did work.

Maybe that mouth shape?

It's the new lighting. I was messing around with the makeup and limbal rings and when i changed time of day, and location my Au Ra would look fairly different..the colors would change quite a bit.

@DoctorSecksy: Male in my opinion as there's already too many females who look just like or similar to that. Your enjoyment of it regardless is always more important than what everyone else thinks or is doing of course. :)

Alright it seems the shade difference in the darker lip colors aren't really different from each other.

Middle hues and light colors all show okay( the pastels look like cheap lipstick for a Halloween costume) but the darker shades, the darker I went in any given color, the less I could tell what color it was, regardless of light on any skin tone Raen and any but human peach Xaela.

Sad.
