They did, the majority of FFXIV players just aren't the type that go reviewing games on Steam. There's a particular demographic most likely to do that, and they're definitely not the target audience of the game. The game's continued popularity seems to be living rent-free in some people's heads, though *gives amused look*.
I am currently in solution 9 (lv98) and feels like DT isn't bad per se.
Characters are cool, interesting even. Yes, including Wuk Lamat.
The problem is how they dealt with their development...how they interact with each other and the world itself.
That weird disney song playing twice (during ceremony and the train scene) WHY?
She recently lost her father and didn't even get through grief properly. Loss was such a huge moment some patches/expansions ago and for her is just something that...happens.
And what happened with her real father during Zooral Ja invasion? suddenly the world is just about Tural and the Dome. They could learn a thing or two with Stormblood..
Worse, i don't think it's a good idea for Graha reminds us the whole time "oooh this is just like voidesent but with high tech"...you can see it in two perspectives: a) oh, nice, the writters know what they are doing or b) they are so stupid that they are telling us they literally copy/paste the same concept over again because they have no original idea.
For me, DT is weird because sometimes i feel like i am playing FFXIV and sometimes i feel like i am playing some weird fanfic
How do you explain this for every other game that got a good review score?
What's so special about FFXIV's playerbase that they hate reviewing the game unless it's a negative review?
People are always more likely to leave a review if they've got something negative to say, but games that the general playerbase enjoy will always have more positive ones than negative ones. I can't think of any examples where this isn't the case, barring stuff like platforms deleting reviews, or only "accredited" reviewers counting toward the overall score.

With how things are released and knowing this is a good cash machine for SE... then it is disappointing that there is no new content, other than for the extremes... and further more disappointed that there is no lvl100 open world content to do either, which should be an option for every single area in the game from ARR to DT... beast tribes is not cutting it either, limited jobs is a waste of development time that could had been spend making casual to mid/hardcore player base as well for the current jobs in game.
Resources is spend on other things than FFXIV, that does not mean that I wont let SE make money, of course there is a need for for that... but current content we are barely getting any content and it seem more like you need to wait 6 to 12 months now instead of 2-3months for stuff to do.
Top SE CEO's and Shareholders, allow your Developers more freedom and resources to develop this magnificent game further, you need a solid staff to do these things with, not just staff that develop the next expansion.
