You are telling me with only looking at the combat log during a fight you can figure get a rough estimate of someones DPS? Or by rough estimate do you mean a blanket statement like they are doing sub-par damage just based of time to kill, ability, and cooldown usage among other factors?

Thats right. Its a big wide world out there lad. Outside your window, your town, your state, your country. Many people capable of many different things you may think is absurd, but is really quite normal. You got scientists that makes complex calculations and deductions all the time while performing other tasks, is it really that hard to believe?

Like for example, the poster Ultima for example? Suffers from the inability to express him/herself, and thus, does it thru memes. Akin to their being humans who can only converse and express thru playing an instrument, or, sign language.

Did not answer the question, can you come up with a number or just get a general feeling that a person damage is low. The latter is what most people do, the former I am a tad skeptical but I have no reason not to believe you since what does someone gain from lying over the internet. I mean if you come up with a number based more so off your experience and not so much the data I would not say that is a product of figuring out calculations yourself, more so making an educated guess based off the general performance and time to kill. Just the way you worded made it seem like you can process all the data in the combat log and gain a fair estimate as to what a player is doing, but sounds like you are simply making an educated guess based off the factors you can easily keep track of such as ability usage or lack, general performance etc...

The way you make fun of people on this forum it makes me sad a Mod hasn’t banned you yet. You honestly deserve it. The people arguing against parsers and against as you call elitist players are the ones being toxic. You’re the ones telling others how to play not the other way around. It’s you all who keep saying people can’t or shouldn’t play how they want. As many people like you have said “you don’t pay my sub”.

*shrug* most people I know who use parsers don't use them to discriminate against other players. It's mostly as a self-learning tool, for friends-only banter, or a gauge for how we can adjust to help the group out.

For example, a few days ago my FC decided to run a tsuku ex learning party for a few members who started late. We didn't have enough people so we PF'ed the rest.
2 of us had a parser running. Some of the players we had, even some from our own FC, weren't performing super well - we didn't mention it ever. All we mentioned in our discord was who the top dps was, in a light fun way, because some of our mates without parsers wanted to know.

I myself noticed my cohealer didn't have great numbers. Did it bother me? Nope. Because it turns out that unlike some of the other people learning, this was literally her first time. However, she was trying hard, learning the mechs quickly enough, and willing to ask for clarification. We didn't kick anyone out, not even the dps who was pulling 3k.

Similarly I'm thinking of a clear run (different group of people, maybe 3-4 weeks ago) and once again not enough people so we PF'd the rest. One of the pugs was pulling about 2.5k. Did we notice? Sure. Did we kick? Nope. Despite the low damage, they were doing the mechs well enough and so we just tried harder to get more of our own damage to make up for it.

Parsers aren't destroying FF14; Toxic players are. If parsers didn't exist, such players would still find a way to be destructive. No reason the rest of us who aren't interesting in belittling other players need to suffer over it.

You dont know how to calculate peoples numbers from the combat logs on the fly. I call your bluff.

I've never met a single RDM do that, so I can't even fathom that. This has nothing to do with parsers, this has everything to do with dungeons being boring slogs and jobs not getting essential skills until you're almost at level cap or at cap. What you're telling me is that the community is fundamentally incapable of being trusted with this knowledge because of a few bad eggs and if we're going to throw out the batch because of a few bad eggs then I guess we're going to get more threads of people demanding they stop making Savage/Ultimate because it isn't their kind of content since nobody will improve, so they'll try to drag it down to their level.

FFXIV is a paradox of a game, they hide information from you, their rotations are lengthy, there's a TIME LIMIT on how long you have to do dungeons BUT you're still expected to treat it as a casual experience when it's impossible to educate someone on their class because their rotation is like 25 buttons with intricate details like oGCDs. You know what is a good source of toxicity? That timer, if I have to reapply Protect or I see like 60 minutes remaining on the duty list, that makes me feel awful and it lets me know that people are severely screwing up or not trying.

The game will have to dumb down the rotations if they want to really stop the toxicity between "for fun" and "for not doing this dungeon any longer than I have to" players.

I am in general agreement, but I'd rather have us pick battles we can actually win. There is no way in hell that SE will ever implement parsers for all level of content, so it's best to focus on having it in content where it matters the most: Content with rewards gated by weekly participation to the point where a public party's chances of clearing said content decreases drastically the further into the week we progress.
