I'm pretty sure those melds will not work outside of PvP.

Yeah we killed A3, I went dragoon, the nin we had left so we replaced him with a monk. Don't worry though, I'll be keeping my monk geared and still posting in here, just won't have any good tips right away :(.
Applying the DRG stat weights (0.162Crit, .139Det, .104SS) to the monk esoteric gear reveals some definite winners and losers. Secondary stats aren't as insignificant as some people have complained! Any item with two dmg stats does well.
Here are the effective weight gains compared to 190 gear based on my quick calculations:
Head +12.496
Body +2.449
Hands +3.257
Belt +10.471
Legs +9.402
Feet +2.502
Neck +8.18
Ear -.573
Wrist -.258
Ring +7.728 *(compared against 180 ring)
Big Winners: Head, Belt, Legs, Neck, Ring
Big Losers: Ear, Wrist, Body (Body is not worth the price until later!)
Ring is a little complicated: Since it's compared against a 180 piece, it's effective weight gain is hefty. However, its stats are really not that good. The 190 Alex ring is better. And since the Savage ring drops from floor 1, it seems like a drop many players could get fairly early. Which means the ring is a slightly risky esoteric sink. In contrast, the neck is almost BiS even without a Coat upgrade.
Coat/Twine upgrades change things a lot, but those aren't very accessible right now.
Also, one could spend 1245 eso this week on Head + Belt + Neck, and it would actually be pretty competitive versus buying the 990 eso weapon. I think the weapon is still safer since these stat weights are borrowed from DRG and may not be accurate.
Personally, I will be buying the weapon this week, Belt & Neck next week, and Head the week after that.
so ur saying secondary stat materia like crit and det will work outside of pvp? either way even not melded for a 180 i think stats on certain pieces have better stats overal.
pvp 180
headv str 48 vit 48 crit 30 det 40
gloves str 48 vit 48 det 40 SS 30
belt str 36 vit 36 crit 32 SS 22
feet str 48 vit 48 det 28 SS 42.
now im going for 190 leggings and body. body will take me 4 weeks since ive been saving springs for legs.
Hak, since you cleared A3, do you know what was the accuracy needed?
Well, you're not accounting for Accuracy in those weights, which you shouldn't ofc, but you always have to keep accuracy caps in mind.
Getting Head + Belt + Neck gives you massive increases, yes, but if you go from full Alex Normal gear to that, you will have 510 Accuracy, which WAY too low. I don't know the Accuracy caps, but I saw players mentioning around 635 for Front or something for A3S, and 510 is not possible to run with. A1S and A2S ofc have lower, but even there, 510 is not possible to run with.
All gear that goes from Accuracy to no Accuracy, will have high weights on the list you made. Legs go from 0 Accuracy to 0 Accuracy, and still have a increase of over 9 weight, making it the best gear piece because of that. EDIT: Well, not best, but the biggest increase without accounting for cost
I still haven't tried to figure out what route is best as a whole, but Legs are a pretty good choice IMO.
