I have never healed so much as a PLD as I did last night doing a DF run...not even when I joined an all tanks Copied Factory in it's early days.
It was P5, and one of the healers just couldn't get out of the danger zones when the walls came up in time and kept going down. Both healers went down multiple times to raid wide after just being ressed and not healing themselves.
The RDM was almost constantly ressing them and two of the other DPS, while I was main tanking, and dropping all my MP into Clemency to keep the RDM and whoever else I could alive. I didn't die, at least not until the VERY end(like 0.8% left), and never lost MT status. Was definitely a big workout, but we did it.
Not to throw anyone under the bus for their choice in raise macros...but this whole interaction made me laugh. This was after my first clear of P7 on my SGE. Twas a spicy run, one wipe and plenty of random deaths and so the macro in question was popping up quite a bit.

They seemed to take it in stride though, so that's good. :)
Three Sephirot groups so far: first was a practice group (the only one up), but the others were intended as clear groups. All in all, a good 2+ hours of wipes with no clears. I actually took a nap and dreamt we finally got both clears, only to forget to submit the first telling.
There was no doubt Seph was going to be more obnoxious than Ultima, and the latter was pretty brutal at first too, but Seph certainly lives up to the Unreal moniker. I was already mostly familiar with the fight (and not clearing it) after joining a BLU party right before the patch, though here he's more on par with synced savage content in terms of HP, in addition to all the spiraling party-wipe mechanics. Maybe they could've thrown in a checkpoint for the second phase, since the first just drags on for 5 minutes.
I unfortunately know this pain all too well. ;-;
I don't know what it is about that second set of towers that just trips up every group I've joined so far. And the entirely too frequent wipes during adds? (Not a single group I joined today even made it to storm of words, sadge.) What I wouldn't give for a checkpoint right about now XD
But hey, at least the music is pretty solid! (I hope I don't hate it by the end of the patch...)
Is it okay to rant about people in a newly released duty? I know the fell court of troia is new but it's still casual content right?
Just ran into this WAR that could not manage their mitigations properly. They'd pop everything at the same time as BW so when that fell off their HP would drop like a lead weight. I managed to hold everything up until the very last pull where I ran out of resources finally and we wiped.
Would complain about them failing mechs in the second boss(they stood in the bad with a couple of stack markers on boss 2 and got obliterated, plus having to res the other dps twice during the same fight wasn't helpful either), but it's new content(although WAR was autoskipping cutscenes, so who knows). The whole thing just kind of left me feeling really moody though.
I can relate, on my first ever run I had a mentor WAR (who was amazing), and two less than stellar people from Crystal datacenter. To say the least considering the content was new, I was expecting the dungeon to take longer than normal as it was on the first day... but my god, the SCH from Crystal was absolutely awful. Spamming Physick on the WAR causing us to wipe once on a mob pull, refused to use Esuna on the Doom debuff from the second boss since you can use Esuna to remove it. The SMN who was from the same datacenter, assuming they were the SCH's friend didn't do much better either but at least was trying a bit more to keep the party afloat, and I distinctly remember dying twice because the SCH wouldn't remove the debuff from me as I was trying to keep on my feet, and considering I accepted raise in weird places, I kind of screwed myself over too. Plus the SCH still was spamming Physick the whole time so that didn't help either.
So yeah, every time I see someone from my old datacenter, I'm always bracing myself for the worst. There was a reason why I left it a long time ago. But yeah, it's completely okay for you to rant since basic expectations for people to at least try to use their job actions properly is an expectation especially at level 90.
I only run expert roulettes on WAR and the new dungeon is super boring when you are geared and people press their buttons correctly.
Idk what makes this "expert" roulette when its the most face-roll content in the game, trash dies so quick I don't need anything more than blood-whetting and healer only needs to wake up for second boss in case some gaze dooms need cleansing.
I forgot to remove the debuff on maybe my second run? My second run of the dungeon was pretty bad though.
I did the first run with the trust for the full experience and trusts just really spoil you so much. Whenever I run with trusts my brain just turns off because I can easily mimic whatever the trust party members are doing and I don't really have to think for myself. But even with that I had no idea the debuff existed until my second run. I have been removing it asap since then, although in the run I mentioned above earlier all 3 other party members got it at one point and I could only esuna 2 while dodging mechs.
Honestly, I'm not the best at the game myself, although I've never been caught throwing around sub level 5 healing spells in end game dungeons either.
Trash wasn't dying quick enough for the WAR to sustain themselves on BW alone. You could blame the DPS but realistically as someone that runs WAR themselves sometimes in level 90 dungeons, you should generally be prepared for the trash to not die as fast as it should and have to end up going into mitigations as well as popping thrill + equili. Maybe it's just a Crystal thing I've only had a handful of times where people actually cleared the packs out fast enough for me to not have to do that. I've almost always had to go from BW into mitis, usually popping thrill + equili to hold off until I can pop BW again.
My buddy got his new lil Thaumaturge to 17 and was wanting to do a roulette. We knew it would be Satasha so I hop on my rarely used AST and another buddy hops on his GNB for a really fast queue.
We load in and the 4th party member is a DNC.
Cool! Iʻm pretty sure DNC has an AoE at this lvl.
But soon not so cool.
DNC is a lvl 87. DNC thinks they are the tank.
I know that this low level stuff may seem like a waste of time for someone almost lvl 90, but c'mon running ahead to pull all the packs to the boss room then expecting the tank and I to catch up and then save you when we get there. WTH?
I seriously considered letting them die a few times.
After the last Captain fight I had to admit that that DNC had pulled me into their mindset. This was no longer a fun run with my buddies. This was now just a damn annoyance run that I wanted to be over with yesterday.
Tbf, I automatically Esuna stuff that has the white line above it though I do know some healers do take Esuna off their bar since it's rarely used outside of a few dungeons. Makes me wish that the devs do continue to actually make Esuna more important going forward so people don't forget and keep it on their bar since that does happen and people do forget since it's so rarely used. But the dungeon I was running through with the people I was with was really miserable, and honestly I wasn't sure how we got through it in the end, the second boss alone almost walled the group and the trash pulls did take longer than usual since the SCH we had with us really didn't use any damaging spells whatsoever and never used their DoT. I honestly was tempted to say something but at this point with the amount of times I asked people to try a little bit harder or to use damaging spells in between heals it has been ignored, so I usually just go silent most of the time.
Depends on your team, if they are well geared and know the buttons, everything melts but if not then some decency of knowing proper tank mitigation.
With Warriors it is more infuriating since they also can heal other players in case something bad happens but rarely find those in expert dungeons
Allow me, if you will, to set the stage for our story...
SCENE:
Two members of an FC running roulettes while hanging out in voice chat; one (PACKETDANCER) is running as a WHITE MAGE, while the other (FRIEND) is running as a MACHINIST. The two land in a run of SIRENSONG SEA, where the second DPS (RANDOM) is a BLACK MAGE. After a relatively smooth beginning, the party reaches THE GOVERNOR and engages the creature in combat.
THE GOVERNOR casts SHADOWFLOW. RANDOM stands in SHADOWFLOW, amassing 5 stacks of magic vulnerability.
PACKETDANCER:
...oh, no. I see where this is going to go. They're gonna get targeted by the tether next, and they ar—
Before the sentence is finished, THE GOVERNOR casts ENTER NIGHT. As per PACKETDANCER's prediction, RANDOM is drawn in to THE GOVERNOR'S hitbox, and remains there, amassing another 4 stacks of magic vulnerability.
PACKETDANCER:
Nine stacks? Wow... the next Bloodburst is going to one-shot them.
FRIEND:
I mean, maybe they'll surv—
THE GOVERNOR casts BLOODBURST. Despite having full health and a shield (courtesy of DIVINE BENISON), RANDOM is instantly converted into a fine red mist.
FRIEND:
You're a prophet. An oracle.
PACKETDANCER:
"Oracle", "experienced healer main"... same thing. Either way, you can see into the future.
(The rest of the run went smoothly, but it was definitely a Healer Main Moment.)
Ran Smileton earlier on SMN. PLD starts pulling, forgets stance. I get wrecked. :p I think "okay, honest mistake, I just did this the previous day."
PLD: "oh, it reset." (wait...)
AST says it's their first time tanking. (what?!)
AST also did this thing of cornering me and stacking their AOE marker on the first boss. I shielded and ended up rezing them.
I saw another PLD in Troia. I was healing this time. They cast cover on one of the DPS during the first pull... o_O
Currently farming Troia for tomestones and GOD I'm tired of so many bad playes around. I've only had ONE decent 15-minutes run since the patch dropped. All other runs are at least 30 mins each with single pulling tanks, non-dpsing healers and low-damaging dps players.
The worst run I had was today and it took us 40 minutes to finish. Come on, It's not THAT hard if you know what you're doing! :\ Even my first run on a day one with all party members being new took no longer than 25!
I enter as dnc. Tank is new to the duty, but he is pretty decent. Our healer dies multiple times during the second and last bosses, causing us to wipe. But okay, I understand it might be their second run, okay, fine. At least the're doing damage on packs and bosses. At least they say "sorry".
The person I have a RAGE on is dancer, who literally used ZERO aoe combos beside dances on trash pulls. Non-aoeing dancer in 90 lvl content with A MENTOR CROWN. Oh ok, I have that crown too, and it's mentor's job to give ppl advices, right? So I politely ask her to use aoes, because I can see her standing in Narnia(and dancer's aoes are melee ranged), but instead she acts completely weird. She does understand a word "melee" and comes closer to trash pulls, but continues to use single-targeted attacks :') I ask again and she still ignores me. Other playes are silent and tell her nothing.
I haven't initiated a votekick only because she was new to the duty as well as tank. At least she wasn't the only reasong Troia took us so long. And at least she used her dances. With the help of my dances trash pulls were dying, well, ok. Not fast, but ok.
But it still pisses me off that I have to be polite to this kind of players. It pisses me off that I have to go "please please pretty please use this and that please listen to me please do not ignore me" to a person with a crown in a lvl90 duty. Sometimes I have a feeling that those kind of players somehow just don't undestand kind words and politeness.
(Sorry for my bad English btw, I am not native)
Super smooth runs are just rare period. There is always someone slacking. As a warrior, most of the time its low damage since i can usually make up for bad healer. Although sometimes group damage is so low i start sweating on big pulls stuff stays alive so long.
I love this new dungeon. I bolted up to the throne and goofed around. Everyone else played along :3

I was reading through TalesFromDF a little earlier and recalled your post. It seems like this might be your run with the AFK BLM!
https://www.reddit.com/r/TalesFromDF...onne_alliance/
Queued in as a DRK to get that sweet mount achievement...
5678 Roulette: Grand Cosmos, 7m Elapsed
I told myself "Oh dear me, what could this be?"
The duty progress stuck right after first boss. The party consisted of AST, RPR, and BLM. Asked what happened to their previous tank and BLM simply said "Idk.." Oh well.. let's bring it on anyways..
The issue immediately became apparent when I pulled the porxies and the plants. I cycled through more cooldowns than usually needed. When Rampart falls off mobs still had about 80% health---I brought up Shadow Wall. That too runs out eventually with mobs still have about 60% health.
A Benefic I-bot, Freestyler RPR, and Ice Mage. The last two are also first timer. I've probably found out the reason why previous tank left.
No wipes occurred, but that was definitely one of the more painful runs I've had in recent times. Second boss repeats seeds blowing mech 4 (FOUR) times, BLM getting swathed repeatedly like a fly because they were standing in Narnia and was unable to dodge the Scorching Left/Right attack at 3rd boss conveniently until I told them to stand a bit closer because they muttered "Sorry I can't dodge that properly." self deprecatingly.
Finished the run at about 31m mark into the instance timer... oh look, to add insult to injury, I rolled 1 on the top that dropped from last chest. Not gonna even bother to wait for that... thanks RNG god, lol.
Tales from the party finder! Guy joins EX4 farm and explicitly asks if it’s a “duty complete” required party (it is) because he’s sick of farm parties that are actually prog parties.
Guy proceeds to wipe the group.
That’s it.
I queued into alliance roulette last night and backfilled into a 20 minute in-progress Tower at Paradigm's Breach that was still at Hansel and Gretel. I was in there for an hour.
It's... nice to see that we can recapture the week one experience still, I guess?
Honestly, though, it was kind of fun... albeit in a horrifying way. Sometimes the complete train wreck duties are actually somehow more enjoyable than the ones that go perfectly smoothly and which you forget about five minutes after you leave the instance.
I don't why I've been seeing this in dungeons across different levels but I've been recently seeing RDM's literally just doing the melee combo and only the melee combo. I'm not saying they did a couple of casts then do the melee combo with not enough black/white mana, but literally, they don't cast anything and just do the melee combo the whole dungeon. It's weird.
I joined a Refulgence (Savage) "farm" group the other day, which explicitly stated in the listing that it was okay to join as long as you watched a guide, which is what I did. After the group filled and we went in one guy was like "wtf I thought this was a farm"...and he was correct, but it was heavily implied that there would be new people joining. I wasn't the only person either. He complained a little bit and left shortly after. Funnily enough though he was making the same mistakes as everyone else and was being passive aggressive about it. Sometimes people can just be horrible, both from a gameplay standpoint and a personality standpoint, especially in the PF. I witnessed both of those in one party, and I was part of it. Though I was steadily improving! It also seems like a lot of people don't know how to read some days which can be rather annoying. Random person joins a party for, say, Crown of the Immaculate, apparently thinking it was Endsinger Ex. How? Just how? They had to have scrolled a long way down the PF list to confuse those two.
I'mma end my trilogy of non-tank tanking in Alliance raids with, yes I did indeed end up taking aggro on my SMN.
Guys, if the MT dies in alliance raid, pls turn on tank stance and Provoke.
That's not why I'm posting. This is why I'm posting:
Brayflox's Longstop -
I'm BLM. Don't remember the tank. But I had a SCH and a RDM.
Not gonna complain about new SCH in Brayflox cause I was there and wall 2 wall pulling w/o Aetherflow when you're new is a pita.
No this is about the RDM.
I'mma need one of ya'll to explain to me why they were hard casting Verthunder and Veraero.
Hopefully I don't get a strike for leaving a Dun Scaith run immediately as the first boss died. Like, I'm sorry for my group, but it's way too early, I just woke up, and I really do not feel like it. My mistake was not leaving it when I first queued in! I just didn't want the penalty so close to maintenance. That's just one of those raids I do not do if I get it, way too much time investment, most runs are horrific. At least give me Orbonne or something.
Honestly, I don't think we would have had the time to complete it.
P8 run tonight my co-Healer= Carry me..
Decided to PF this tier because of time issues. Been very hard to get groups that are actually on devour prog for my devour prog listed parties. I'm sorta whatever, I don't expect much but the only thing that annoys me is that it's always the mega salty players who are the actual issue. And good players who are causing no problems have so much self doubt they leave because they think they're holding back the group. Can these two types just swap their decisions to leave/ stay? :(
My first, and only, experience with the Duty Finder, so far, involves a 40+ minute queue for the first Duty that became available. Basic Training: (Something) Lvl. 10. I thought that the roulette system was designed to help with things like that, but I'm, apparently, mistaken. Is it possible to "force" the Duty Finder to open an instance with less people? I understand that most instances scale here, but I'd like to attempt to solo it, when the Duty Finder isn't working correctly.
had a machinist blow a fuse and yell "CAN YOU HEAL" at me this morning when i decided to do expert roulette on sage. this was after i had to raise them twice because they kept trying to commit suicide by obvious aoe marker and accepted their first raise straight into a raidwide that i couldn't have outhealed anyway because i'd wasted all my ogcds keeping them alive from the aforementioned aoes they kept running into
they really need to add healer mounts or something because you couldn't pay me to play as one again until the next level cap increase, lol
Sounds very much like(minus the complaining) the two healers from P5 last week. Both kept going down, and raising into raid wides. The RDM was the real MVP for raising them, and anyone else, almost none stop in the second half of the fight. Meanwhile, I kept the RDM alive through Clemency.
On my 19th normal raid run and counting to get the blasted chest token so I don't have to use the Piety crafted chest. Token count: 1.
For some reason I see mostly p6 with a bit of p7 and it always ends with some major PvP chaos. And every time there's this melee that thinks it's the best idea ever to use melee lb3 when we're at 40% and people kept dying left and right the entire time, multiple people are down and healers gave in to their Super-Ether addiction and constantly had to hardress.
Melee lb3 is overrated.
It's not a "delete boss" button.
It's not the cool op anime finisher move you think it is.
Use it at the end to speed things up but if it's a clownfiesta run, do not touch the lb3 as a dps. Leave it for healers or even tanks to keep the run going. Not to mention that it's already a gain if it catches 2 people. Hands off the lb3 button.
P7 everyone was down except one tank and me during double autos - I could've just ressed everyone with lb3 if the melee hadn't decided to use it earlier when it was already clear that this is not a smooth run. I would've likely died to the autos unless the other healer reacted extremely fast but one healer vs 6 people is a fair trade off, especially since they're immediately free to move and act.
P6 a whooping 11min run because it was one giant ress fiesta and at one point, only one tank, 2 dps and me were alive, np MP left to ress a tank or healer in time, Super-Ether already on cd - melee lb3 got used at 45% (yep, we were slow). Double tankbuster came and I got nuked. The kill took around 12min.
When I wrote in party chat if the dps could please leave the lb3 to healers I got a "or maybe heal more and not let people die?".
Honey, I can't heal stupid. I babysitted your dumb ass through aoes with 4 stacks, don't blame me if you get nuked while collecting a 5th.
The other p6 runs were chaotic and with lots of death but these 2 were the most memorable ones.
When I ran my very first P6n run last week, I asked for tips on any mechs that are new and someone told me if "I have a green tether, turn to the wall when your debuff timer runs out"
Of course...I understood what he just said...but I still don't know what's going to actually happen.
Nonetheless we pull.
I stay behind the boss and of course I see the doublepalm .5 second telegraph cleaves so yeah as a blind run I'm pretty stoked already. Then come the green tethers...
I stop dpsing so I can see what this actually does and turn to the wall. After seeing what happens I realize how this can completely wreck the party so I try to keep this at the top of my priorities....
What happens throughout the fight? 2 of the other dpses keep cleaving our tanks by puking on them because of this mechanic and they're both ranged dpses btw.
in my mind, I'm all like, "did you idiots not listen to the team captain!?"
I did have a glorious moment when I ran P8n though. One of the many moments i love playing SMN or RDM.
The fight's going rough but we're all new. Then the boss chains together several knockback indictators just like Azemya from The Agliaia alliance raid....only with a twist! it's FIVE KNOCKBACKS!!!! 0_0
I blank out after the 3rd knockback indictor and panic fire surecast. Surely I'm safe.........
right.....
riiiiight........
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!?!?!?!?!? Square Enix: Nope you're not, have a nice ride!
The surecast doesn't save me and I bounce around like a pinball and inevitably crash into the wall(which I'm sure put a dot on me). Most of the rest of the party is getting decimated too most dpses are already dead from other overlapped aoes that happened off on another area and I realize one of the tanks and a healer is already dead as well.
after I took the second knockback with a dot on my ass some floor traps activate during the knockbacks I realize I don't have time left to live. I fire my quickcast + rez from downtown and res the healer that died earlier. After the mechanics end everyone BUT the healer I attempted to rez is dead he/she rezes and activate the LB3 saving our asses!
Now those are the moments I live for and yes, we won. It was beautiful.
Normally I run as a healer when spamming something for a drop, unless it's role-specific gear. But I decided to play tank to change things up a bit in my "I will have this orchestrion roll" purgatory where I queue into P6N and P7N endlessly. So here I am, GNB rather than a healer, and I get a run of P7N where five people were down and calling out for the one healer alive to LB3. I try to pause and type out "No, WAIT!" in party chat... but too late. Healer LB3 goes off.
And then the angry tree takes away most of the platform... and four of the five people who just rezzed drop into the void below before the LB animation finishes. And the healer who was in LB animation lock goes with them, thus removing the last rez-capable person from the field.
I swear I could hear sad 'womp womp' trombone noises in my head.
To the stunningly confident samurai, who upon failing a mechanic in an expert dungeon ran into my AOE, died, and then proceeded to write "NEXT TIME MOVE" in the chat.
I applaud you.
As Captain America once said sometimes when the whole world tells you to move, its your job to stand firm, jump into the healers AOE and say "NO! YOU MOVE"
