Im rerolling from nin to drg but having hard time to choose what gear i should get pre alex savage...
I pretty much started the patch with something like this:
http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/WDCA
The crafted 250 set with Sophic Pike would be the obvious choice. If you pentameld it you'll end up with quite a bit of skill speed but it can be a good thing for progression while you're getting familiar with the fights, more leniency to refreshing BotD. If you don't like that you can simply replace some pieces with Prototype Alexandrian gear. Replacing the belt and neck slots with Proto-Alex gear would get rid of some for example.
Yeah, try to avoid learning the job the wrong way with 750 + SS.
It's just a case of unfortunate stat allocation for us. In return we get a lot of determination on our gear (well, the BiS anyway). Times like this make me wonder if Square actually plans out their items or just haphazardly slap stats on gear and pray that something good comes out of it.
^think it's the latter, I've gone down from 762 to 724 ss now. It still is waaay too much, according to dervy's bis we should be good with ss later down the line. But for now it's getting the right gear/doing savage weekly for gear and hoping it has no ss on it lol
I don't parse so what's a good dps to shoot for like 1500-2000?
We would need a little bit more info than "what should I parse" to determine that. What is the scenario? Dummy? Buffs, food? An actual encounter? Your gear?
FFlogs can give you an idea but you have to filter out the Astrologians if your group doesn't have one and also take into account that some people already have the 260-275 weapons and other gear to push up their DPS quite significatly. Taking a look at the 50th-75th percentiles is probably a good idea if you want to see how the average Dragoon does like. Comparing yourself to the top 1% won't do much good unless you're similarly geared and catered to.
Yup, you just have to click on the name of the boss you want to check and you'll have the top 200 instead of 10.
During a part of the patch, i reached a bit over 1.3k crit rate... Of course at 600 determination. But still, having such a high natural crit rate felt so good and satisfying. Of course damage wasn't that great...
I'm currently i256 with the i260 Shire weapon and on the SSS A12S dummy I seem to fail at 1% every time which is just a tick shy of 2300 DPS. I am doing pretty subpar for my iLvl? Not sure what I can do to improve my numbers, I've been following the guide on the rotation on the first page.
"HT - ID - [BOTD] - DI - CT - 4TH - PH - TT - VP - FT - [GK] - 4TH
--- DO NOT USE GEIRSKOGUL HERE
HT - ||| ID - DI - CT - 4TH - PH ||| - TT - VP - FT - 4TH - [GK]
HT - ID - DI - CT - 4TH - [GK] - PH - TT - VP - [BOTD] - FT - 4TH
------- DO NOT USE GEIRSKOGUL HERE
HT - ||| ID - DI - CT - [BFB] - 4TH - PH ||| - [GK] - TT - VP - FT - 4TH "
Can someone better elaborate on this? Do I continue this exact cycle?
Not really, I guess it's the best you can get with the 270 wpn.
Probably with the relic if it's 270.
Well, I learned with this guide:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...h.vc40pjts5rw7
They better not fuck up drg in 4.0, else we riot.
On a serious note, anyone got an idea how drg will look like with reworked skills? Interested to know if we're gonna have an dumbed down rotation or not (hope not)
Hmmm we cud end up with two 4 tier combos starting with heavy thrust, for example:
HT>DIS>CT>4TH
HT>VT>FT>4TH
that removes 3 GCDs=ID, TT and Phleb
HT would have to be reduced to about 10 seconds and maybe have its positional changed to the rear
thats my theory anyway but who knows could be anything :p i just hope they keep the rng of wheeling and fang
That's pretty good too. Vorpal thrust and impulse rush are pretty filler moves which should have been done with when 4th tier was introduced. And especially will how much down time there is in these new fights, it'll help a lot to get the rotation started again. But I would go with HT - DIS - CT - 4th then PLB - VT - FT - 4th, double HT dumbs it down too much. But it all depends what new moves we will get. We would actually lose a lot of DPS without Phleb to dot up stuff.
yea i would be fine with them keeping phleb, i just personally feel its a rather boring ability even the animation. As for the dps loss without it, potencies can be changed of other abilities and also a shorter rotation should allow for more geoskoguls.
My bad I thought you were talking about the set to prepare for in case the relic can go up to i275 (which pretty much means the best set you can make with the augmented shire spear, and you later replace the spear with the new relic).
As for the "BiS" with savage spear, I think we can't really say if it's BiS or not since we don't know the stat weights yet. However I'd say that the set you linked should either be BiS or at least very close to BiS.
Actually I don't think so. Back in 3.2 (3.25?) we only got the relic up to i230, which is equivalent to unupgraded lore weapon. It wasn't until 3.3 that we got the i240 step, so I expect the i270/275 step to come in 3.5. That gives us probably 3 months from now?
I'm just starting the relic for my drg, I kinda lost any motivation to continue with my war's relic after clearing a12s since the axe is already crit/det. If only I could trade my i240 relic axe to an i240 relic spear lol.
According to the patch 3.4 site you are correct and we should see more come 3.45.

is it just me or why, in the opener, my blood for blood can no longer cover the second 4TH hit (the very last action before reapply Heavy Thrust)?
SS currently at 620
You need another 5sks to reach the breakpoint. Otherwise the 21sks you have since 591 is borderline worthless as far as reducing ur gcd goes. Also, try delaying the BfB until halfway thru the gcd after heavy thrust, or place legsweep before it and double weave.
Back after a long break. Good to see the drg community still going strong!
At 599, is your heavy thrust still buffed by previous heavy thrust's effect in full combo?
question for A11S guys, boss casts optical sight right when i have the fully buffed Full Thrust , if it's the two big orbs, should i take the hit and keep on finishing the opener? since it will be off after the next optical sight, and it's such a big dps lost if i dont do that full thrust there...
Are you still learning that phase? If you're sure you can dodge the other stuffs that give vuln up, it's fine to eat the first optical sight since the stack should drop before anything hits you hard. If you're learning it's better to just dodge it until you and your healers are comfortable with that phase since the whirlwind aoe hits pretty hard when you have more than one vuln stacks.
?
How do you place de boss?
Actually I have no problem doing it, I just ignore de positional of my 4th combo because I have to dodge but it's ok, no gcd loss.
Even with the multiple orbs, you can still dps if you do it the right way.
