Looks cool m8. One of the few characters I've seen that managed to make lighter limbal rings look really nice.

Au Ra sadly has the least amount of options available to them or customization when compared to the other races.


Not as many tail options as Miqo'te
Not as many Shapes as the other races (nose, eyes etc)
And they are missing 4 face paint options which the other races get by default
(full face paint, Bruised skin, Freckles, and Eyebrow paint)

The major part of an Au Ra is the Horns as well especially on certain face shapes, the horns also show outside helmets and Robes.
A friend mentioned that Yoshi-P said during the Nico 2015 stream that all features that were not going to be for Au Ra made it in the Benchmark.

I like how mine turned out, though in the end I'll be sticking with Miqo'te. I tried to mess with the limbal rings to make it just look like she has somewhat larger pupils. My only regret is that the hairstyle's "extra" horns don't match the color of the rest of her horns and scales. :eek:

The quote about female highlanders and roegadyns bothers me to be honest. First of all, I see more female highlanders on my server than I do midlanders. There's nothing "stocky" about either of them. If you strip them down to their under garments, both are very slim and toned, no where near the word "stocky". "Stocky" would be a male roegadyn. Also, just because the majority of people may not play them considering the demographics are 90 percent miqotes doesn't mean they wouldn't want to see others playing as them for diversity purposes. Many of the cat girls I know love my roe and say they love seeing other races than just cats running around. Making all female au'ra petite versions looking nothing like the males is silly. They should have gone the midlander/highlander route and made one subrace taller and more menacing than the other that way everyone is happy. You can get your cute subrace and your more "tough" one. Lastly, I think its noteworthy to mention the forums and even among the servers people have commented on how they dislike the gender differences between the two. At least male/female of the other races look like they'd be part of the same race.

I wanted to tweak my Au Ra a little more because I wasn't really satisfied with her before and decided to just change her face type along with other small facial things. So this is pretty much an update on what I plan to 100% stick with as I love the look I got on her now. :)

Here is my character that i just made, edited with gimp(minor effects)just to remove the character creation menu. I was going for a demonic type of look, i think she turned out quite well.
Be gentle as this was my second time using gimp :P

She's lovely! :D I really like the combination of grey eyes, black hair and her make-up - her colourscheme is very pretty.

Made a male just because! I went with Raen because I like their lore better, and because they have white scleras. I prefer the Xaela's scales and skin colors though :/ Just wish their sclera wasn't black.

I tried to make an Au Ra that would fit me but its so hard. I find their eye shapes horrendous (treir lips are my life source tho) plus they all look like pouting kids. I really wanted them to look badass. To at least have an optional 'deathstare face'. Sigh.

It could be the hairstyle, I think she looks nice though. :)

My advice is keep messing with her, you'll find a look you like. Try different things that may be out of your norm too. That could end up in an accidental but a nice appearance for her. :)

Looks to me like using the screenshot as a base and going over it with other brushes (and redrawing the hair). I've been meaning to try that myself but all my screenshots are on my PC and photoshop/tablet are on my laptop...keep forgetting to dump some screenshots into dropbox for it

I think the male Xaelas' sclerae just look black in certain lighting. They have the same faces as the Raen, though, so I'm not sure why this is the case, or if there's something else at work here.

That said, I've heard people mention it for both clans. It's probably because male auri eyes are so darn small (especially when you compare them to female auri animu baby doll eyes) that their sclerae are hard to see, especially with larger irises
