Hate is a pretty strong and dramatic emotion.

Locking relics behind Hildibrand is better than locking the end of a sidequest series behind Baldesion Arsenal.

BEcause it is funny and also they found a way to travel the rift.... it serves more than one thing.

I really enjoy weaving older optional content into newer optional content - it's a good way to make use of tons of older content built up over the years.

People run around in dungeons, trials, and raids in the dumbest glamour out there. I'm not a fan of it, but that's just the way it is. This isn't any less serious than that, so I don't see why people are upset now.

For Bozja you too were forced to do Ivalice. Group content with many cutscenes that some might not have wanted to do. At least with Hildebrand you can do it mostly alone (most of the trials there can be soloed) and can skip a huge amount of it. You cant skip the Ivalice raids if you want to do Bozja. You have to run the raids. Yet now its suddenly so bad?

Not only that but if you simply dislike Eureka (and Eureka was hated a lot on the forums in the past. It exploded when that content came out) then you are bascially out of luck with the whole relic questline. And with Bozja there seems to be a problem with people doing it later because certain instances are not done much often.

Maybe we finally get another relic quest that we can do with a whole variety of content and that might still be doable expansions down the line.

And about your point about liking the content: Sorry I have tried Eureka and hated it. Its an absolute boring grind which I never finished. Bozja was a bit better and I did finish one relic but I was quite happy to be done with it. (It also helped that you could get a lot of stuff outside of Bozja). People who like it have a huge amount of zones and grind to do it. Now it might be time for others to get their way of grinding. Not every expansion relic have to be Eureka or Bozja-like.

The difference between Ivalice and Hildebrand is that those things actually matter to the MSQ as where Hildebrand doesn't. Its always been miscellaneous side content that doesn't have any bearing on the story, Ivalice and the raids could be looked at in the same function but at the very least they provide actual world building for the game that we're playing.

As to the Eureka/Bozja stuff, the old form of relic grind was no better. Being forced to go back and run old content over and over again was something many people complained about hence why they shifted it to the expedition content. At the very least that form of relic grind provided new content and new things to do, it wasn't even about the relic as there were several other things you could be doing between Eureka and Bozja. Now without that people are missing out on a huge chunk of content that we were all looking forward to.

Hell, they could have provided us with new expedition zones and tie the relic into that while still tying Hildebrand stuff into Gold Saucer content and no one would be upset. It's the fact that they're removing something serious and fun and placing priority on a joke.

considering godbert is a member of ul'dahs ruling class and also the owner of the canonically relevant gold saucer it would be absolutely possible to tie in hildibrand with "relevant content" on the level of "if you decide to never do THIS relic chain than you won't know it happened but if you do here is some additional backstory on i dunno, the inner workings of ul'dah?" which is pretty much the same as every relic before it with the exception of shadowbringers.

Hildibrand isnt funny, and I might just skip doing relics entirely this time around. This is a huge turn off for someone that just wants to do battle content and skips most of the story/cutscenes.
God forbid this game have any challenge, complexity, or any sort of grind or time commitment in it anymore, apparently bozja and eureka were too hard for people.

Devs are now pushing out updates to every 4.5 months, forcing people to do old side quest content as 'busywork' by requiring everyone that wants a relic weapon to now go through it.
I dont care if i can skip the cutscenes, thats still hours of my time teleporting around and skipping cutscenes I shouldnt have to do. Disrespecting my time.

what does tying it into hildibrand have to do with grinding bozja ? you think the relic won't have a grind ? or is it that it won't have a eureka/bozja grind, which is most likely correct, but also 100% independent of the fact it gets tied into hildibrand. if anything it will most likey have a tie in with the variant and/or criterion dungeons. heck, as long as say high level criterion dungeons would be a way to accelerate getting the relic compared to whatever the alternative is this would be the first time where the relic actually would reward challenging yourself, staying in bozja for hours was a lot of things but surely not challenging.
