I know I’m very late to this party, but snow does not equate to winter. Winter is a time frame and has nothing to do with climate.

Seasons are determined by the tilt of the Earth's axis, there is nothing subjective about this. Winter solstice is the longest night of the year. Summer solstice is the longest day of the year. And spring and autumn equinoxes are when night and day are equal. And seasons in the Northern hemisphere are the opposite of the Southern hemisphere due to this axis tilt.

Retail uses the calendar for product releases because they are fixed timeframes that apply globally. "Fall 2021 (NH)/Spring 2021 (SH)" for example.

Not if you ask the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute but this is beating a dead horse.
That being said, I got 2 dm snow over night and been like -15c for past week or so. It's not fall if you ask any Swede.
