So anyone else tired of grinding tomes weekly for gear?

This week is the week I've crashed.
I have the latest relic, I usually cap tomes and red scrips....and I've just given up.
It's the same routine day in and day out. I hope with all my heart that the next expansion really mixes things up and changes things for the better; else I'm definitely gone.
A lot of my friends have unsubbed recently as well and It just feels like playing the game is now a job.

Cancelled my sub which runs out in about a month or so, Dark Souls 3 comes out tomorrow so i'll be playing that. I've played since 1.0, never played XI, but this has got so boring I wont be back unless there are changes for the better. Byeee!

Short answer, yes.

Can't tell if this post is bait or not with the condescending winking emotes but I'll bite considering this is the Final Fantasy XIV forums.
Why are you assuming Final Fantasy XI players are talking through nostalgia goggles and not from the heart because it might actually be *shocker* a great MMO and a good Final Fantasy? Sounds incredibly shallow of you to put it that way just because you didn't like. I'm a new player to Final Fantasy XI and I'm loving it, I find myself logging into that game more and more I applaud it for not holding your hand with quest markers or dumb carrot on the stick tactics to keep people interested I love the sense of adventure I get from this, I'm having a really good time playing XI so if new players like me with no past attachment to the game can pick up and play it then I don't think you have any right to say FFXI players have their rose tinted glasses on.

I do make it sound like I hate XIV it's actually my least favorite Final Fantasy game but I think there's some fun to be had with it and I appreciate it for being a fan service game for us long time fans.

People have different tastes in games. I've met people who love every FF game that has existed and people who haven't liked a single one. I've met people who find FF11 awesome and others who find it terrible.

There will be different tastes. Not all games have to satisfy all players.

I agree not every game needs to satisfy or cater to every player, but when a statistically large portion of your player base is giving negative feedback or are leaving the game because they have let critical issues continue for too long with no end in sight, then it becomes the responsibility of the developer to understand their gamers and consider better alternatives. This becomes especially more important when the game in question is an ever evolving MMO. There needs to be new fresh elements brought in to keep the game alive and the subscriber base healthy. We have threads like these because the end game subscriber base is getting bored of the same old same old. Heavensward did not change the tedium either. It didnt change a single thing about the core progression systems in place. Due to that it is likely we'll see a drop in subscribers eventually because the current systems will become tedious or stale over time. (Apparently its just happening now, as opposed to a few years from now)

It is because we love this game that we want to see it evolve and grow. Those of us in here asking for something new, are here because of that. We're invested in the future of FFXIV.

I'm glad you're enjoying such a GREAT game like FFXI. An amazing rpg, and I'm considering coming back. I've played that for 11+ years, and it's just awesome. Sure, it has its flaws, like every single videogame out there, but the content is so fun to say the least. That I understand. This issue been talked about since 2.3 I believe though so its not new at all and I dont think its just the vocal minority talking. I'd have to do some serious digging to recover the other threads from 2.3 timeframe, but the issue pops up quite often, and most especially after every new content patch when people discover we're getting yet another new tomestone and the old one is being eased up or replaced entirely. The tomestone grinding system has literally been the main progression system since 2.0. It's definitely worn-out its fun factor.

Philosophy > Mythology > Soldiery > Poetics > Law > Esoterics > Lore... Its been the same thing since 2.0. Its like taking a car from the 90's and every few years slapping a new name and coat of paint on it and calling it a brand new car.

Just view my posts :P I'm in over half of those topics mentioning how it's getting stale, which based on the amount of likes my posts got, people agreed. I remember way way back then, there was only a handful or so, me included, who noticed the trend and spoke out against it, only to get bashed to hell by a ton of people. I find it funny now, years later, more people are finally noticing this.

It is pretty sad though, that for whatever reason, translations or other things, that when a topic gets brought up about feedback on the game, it gets completely ignored, but when someone mentions they want fluffy minions, bunny ears, or throwing money at the cash shop, SE jumps at it the second it pops up.
