Mentor roulette, rolled into Aery. Said our greetings, this is looking to be a good fast run. My impression got shattered bare seconds later.
Tank could NOT keep aggro, and we basically played "who has aggro" game for the rest of the run. She'd had this habit of sprinting to boss from the boss room entrance, so that she had a frickin' sliver of TP to aggro and shiz. So doing my duty as a mentor, I politely reminded the tank that she was using deliverance and that the blms were catching aggros left right and center. No reply. One of the blms pipe up about using Defiance, no reply again. No change. 15 mins in and we couldn't even pass the first boss, and with lots of deaths, one of the blms quit. A bard pops in, we proceed. Same thing happens, we try to vote dismiss the tank, it failed. After the first boss, the other blm leaves. In comes a goon, who loses his cool in a span of a few minutes and says he'll tank. Tank seems to get the point and starts using defiance after the poison perv boss, but drops it again after amassing a group of mobs to dps. We finally made it to the final boss in which we wiped 3 times, twice due to Sable (and I pulled the lucky card on this both times) and the other due to everyone letting mobs eat Estinien alive. Goon leaves after 2nd death here, we get another bard. After the 3rd wipe, 2nd bard tells me "why aren't you healing Estinien? you should SS and regen him"! I snapped at this point, and left.
That run took almost an hour up to the point where I left. One of the nightmare runs where I had to blast everything I had to keep the party alive. Now I don't know about you guys, I'm ok with stance dancing and all, but when tanks stay in Deliverance mode permanently and pretty much don't give a damn to aggro flying all over the place... please, resign as a tank. Do your primary job before your secondary.

Not exactly a "horror story," but it was interesting.
I did the 50 roulette and got Amdapor Keep. The tank said he was new and proceeded to make the smallest pulls possible (I can understand being cautious if you've never tanked it before, but still). Normally, I hate very large pulls that make me panic and actually have to do something, but I have a whole new appreciation for tanks that make really large pulls. Because he made such small pulls, there was very little healing to be done. The largest group of mobs was 5, but it was usually 1 to 3, so even though there wouldn't have been much use for it, I wish I had Gravity because it would have been more fun than casting Malefic over and over again.
So, to give me something to do while no one was taking any damage (in addition to doing dps myself, of course), I started standing in non-fatal aoe and giving everyone dumb cards, such as the Ewer for the ninja and the bole for me when I wasn't taking any damage (I couldn't bring myself to waste any Balances, though).

Dear overzealous level 52 whitemage without complete job levels to fill cross class skills,
I do not blame you nor did you do anything wrong at your job. You certainly tried. I wished to explain to you a thing called logic... But unfortunately your sense of healing righteousness thwarted my attempts. I pity that you truly believe I was being a bad healer or childish and I hope one day you will find that logic I was unable to bestow upon you.
I know you wanted to try to help come up with a great way to bypass 2 year old mechanics for a fight you and at least 3 other party members had never seen before. Certainly if those mechanics wern't tank swaps in Mog EX we may have succeeded. Perhaps that the party only had 1 tank at the time made it a tad difficult. Perhaps that same tank whom never fought the encounter before or knew any of the mechanics made you feel like he was simply not listening as opposed to being 100% clueless.
As a fellow healer I'm sure you're at least somewhat aware of what "aggro" is. I'm also sure you know that if the tank doesn't tank it.. You will be. I wished to bestow upon you the knowledge that when the PLD and WAR Moogles are crit-eating your face for all your squishy whm at the same instant: even a 5 minute cooldowns spell as magical as benediction will not save your happy little existence. The reason you died immediately after I did was because you aren't aware you'll take more damage from behind while you run away. Perhaps if I did accept your raise I would live yet another 3 seconds! Certainly the attribute reduction ... Which leads to getting hit just a tad harder while you have less HP didn't cross your lovely little mind. Perhaps one day, if you ever run this content as much as I had in the past, and you see a fellow double-weak cohealer get killed in one shot without so much as receiving a critical hit- you'll believe.
My dear little whitemage.. Raising a fellow healer can surely save the day in a winning fight! Unfortunately wiping horribly in phase 1 over and over rather than waiting to explain or waiting for a second tank might just be a tiny bit pointless. I hope you take my encouragement to get a second opinion about how mog EX mechanics operate in synched iLevel through duty finder ... And that your healing logic and beliefs are annihilated on the spot and corrected into reality.
Has been months since I visited these forums. .. Just irked me to that point. Sorry about the wall and errors. *heads to nap*

Ran Weeping City last night a few times to try for my healer legs. Couple runs ran smooth as ever. No wipes. No reason to complain. I start my last run and while I'm waiting for everyone to load up so I can heal my party properly, someone pulls and we start. Everyone but the tank has loaded and it's just trash pulls so I don't worry yet. We clear the trash and get to Arachne. Tank still hasn't loaded. I make it known that I can't heal the tank with anything but Med II or Asylum. We go. We clear. We awesome. We keep going. My tank doesn't load up for me until we hit Ozmasphere which is where our other healer dies and I have to show off my heal skills. It wasn't really a horror story but it very well should have been.

Got Brayflox Longstop as an AST. I was retweaking my buttons and macros, not to mention it was only my 3rd-4th time AST healing, so I'm still kinda green. I got queued in with a mentor in mostly i240 gear and a sprout, and by the time the run was over I only envisioned the kind of conversation the mentor and the sprout must've had:
"Watch this, lil' sprout. I'm gonna show you how tanking's done"
*Pulls from start to 1st boss*
"Whoa, that's awesome! You didn't die once! I mean, you health was lo but u still alive"
"Told ya! Ima badass!"
*Pulls from entire right side to 2nd boss*
"Awww yeah! See dat shit, lil' guy?!"
"w000000t! You did it! You a bamffffffffffffff tank! Your health was low the whole time to and you stil lived!"
"Another day in the office for me, bro!"
*Tries to pull everything, but missed the 2 monsters right by the boss entrance. I'm a nice guy, I won't tell anyone.*
"Daaang u amazin bro! You were about to die, but you didn't!"
"I'm a car wash baby, cuz I'm automatic!"
Luckily for them all my macros checked out. I still have to switch a few around, and I'm still confused as to how The Spear works, but overall it's good to go. :]

oh god!
This one happened early this morning. Did leveling with my SCH, landed in the vault with a PLD, BRD and NIN. Inspected the PLD - all ironworks gear. I cringed a bit but kept my mouth shut, some tanks weren't so bad.
I was wrong. so so so so wrong. PLD used absolutely NO CD's besides Rampart and Fight or Flight. He was losing enmity on every single mob. To add icing to the cake we spend at least 2-4 between every pull while he spammed the /kiss /bow/ and /hug emotes on the BRD (%100 sure they were together). While on the subject of the BRD they didn't use WM until the last boss.
The entire run was painful, I had absolutely zero time to go into dps. The PLDs help plummeted so fast it was honestly stressing me out. Fast forward to the last boss.
Tank and bard apparently thought it would be a nice idea to not move out of any aoes and stood in front of all the walking knight things. It was so hard keeping everyone up. BRD kept dying, after I spent my Swiftcast raising her, emergency healing her with a lustrate because I couldnt spend a single second without healing the tank. She died again, which left me having to wait for Swiftcast because the tank wouldnt survive if I tried hard raising her. We make it to the phase where we have to dps the fireballs. Tank and bard team up and me and the NIN go our seperate ways. We both down two while the pair barely downs one. Needless to say we couldnt destroy them all, leaving one or two to blow up. At this point I have no MP. Like NONE. In all my time running the vault across all my healers I had never ran out of MP before. We wipe. I was forced to bring out Eos. Second time was like the first, but luckily I had eos' regen and buffs which helped out a TON.
We miraculously finish. I honestly have never been that stressed out before. I thank the party even though I don't want to (my pettiness knows no bounds) and book it as out of there.
That tank was on a whole new definition of squishy.

My healing horror story was....... watching an AST healer be a horror, when I main healer/AST |||OTL
It's so hard not to notice what a healer is/isn't doing when you're on another class.
I was on my Bard alt character, at the time... He would barely heal the tank while the tank was not all that greatly geared, still in some poetics pieces. x.x; Probably just making the minimum required ilvl (I shouldn't talk, I still had a few upgraded poetics accessories on, myself...). He DID have more HP than us, so I don't think it was a case of broken gear, and it wasn't obvious poor defense by way of dropping hp (....hard not to notice when you heal majority of your play time).
The healer would then heal benefics (not even benefic II) ***in cleric*** in spam mode because he couldn't get enough healage going >_> (gee, I wonder why). I can understand a mistake, but it happened several times.
They also focused on DPSing and barely healing the tank.
They didn't utilize any of their tool kit, and I don't remember much about their card usage (I do remember raising a brow at the usage/delegation, but I don't remember anything standing out).
At this point, I had no faith in this healer >_>
The tank wasn't even pulling big - just whatever happened to be in the halls or that appeared in the hall (like when enemies come out and mob you when you reach the single mage enemy). Tank dies on a regular mob in that described instance, then the DRG, the AST kites around, half tanking, half kiting, while I'm half tanking, half killing whats on the AST so they don't die in the narrow hall...... somehow managed to keep us both alive.
Now why couldn't they be that vigilant while the tank was alive?
Tank and DRG came back just in time for the last of the mob to die.
The DRG goes, "What a healer!"
And I'm just thinking to myself, "Please PLEASE be that you're saying this in sarcasm? If he can keep a squishy bard and himself alive in a large mob then there was absolutely NO excuse not to keep the tank alive, low gear or not."
First boss, healer pretty much lets the tank die. We then proceed to sit around while the tank lays on the ground, with the healer and DRG sitting on him (I really hate it when people do that... even worse when it was the healer that was doing poorly). All the while acting like it was the tank's fault for dying (which is possible, due to amount of stacks he had, but I have 0 faith in that healer even by BEFORE the first boss, anyway, so I really felt he shouldn't have said anything >_>).
A good 4 or 5 mins goes by before the healer realizes, 'Oh, didn't realize you were waiting for me to raise you'.
>_>
A.) Just respawn. Won't be any sickness then.
B.) Really? (I would have hit upon that notion ages ago)
It pretty much goes like this all through out the run - tank dies at a boss again, they sit around, etc. It was horrible.
Poor tank must have died at least 3 times, between a regular mob and bosses, they were in noct for a good chunk of the run with scarce heals, would spam Benefic (1) while the tank is nearly dying.... (just...use...a....benefic II.....catch up on the HP, dammit)
I didn't comm the healer for obvious reasons, didn't comm the DRG for being blind and seeming to think the healer was hot shit.... gave the comm to the tank - I would have taken much more care if I had been on AST at the time - bad gear or not (been there, done that, I know exactly what a squishy new tank in Vault feels like).
The healer was in Dreadwyrm robes, and maybe I'm outdated/oldschool, but seeing Dreadwyrm armor ***used*** to mean they were skilled (at least, in some class).
It was probably a crafted version, cheesed from T13 via overgear, or maybe carried while on another class if they got it ages ago when Dreadwyrm was actually relevent, but after experiencing that healer..... when I see Dreadwyrm-anything on a player, I'm instantly suspicious of their abilities >_>

Hullbreaker Isle hard with a party that was determined to win the Stupid of the year award. All of them firm believers in standing in every single AoE and damaging mechanics. Normally, I can bulldoze through this sort.. but paper tank + blm who hadn't done any HW job quests = hellacious hour. 1st boss wasn't too bad, but Ymir and the Marshal fights were absolute nightmares. The icing of this shit cake, they booted me after two wipes at marshal because none of them could be arsed to take poison healing pots and standing in the damn aoe even after being cleansed of the heavy. The parting shot before I was unceremoniously removed, tank told me "shit mentor, git gud healing". Says the tank who thought not using grit was better because.....I is DPS tank.

The add poison would have been completely avoidable had the tank tanked his head towards or sideways on the party. If anything the Summoner should have directed the issue towards the tank. Seems to be a common mistake with likely alt tanks (who knows why they still have i200 weapons at this point in the game) trying to do Weeping City.
