Sorry SE, but endgame won't work if you don't fix something.

Hey, does anyone know what 199.91.189.234 is? Because when I trace my signal to Balmung (199.91.189.30), it must go through that server. And between 199.91.189.234 and the general Montreal network/backbone servers are two called 66.198.96.50 and 192.34.76.2. The last one being Ormuco Communications (which I assume is the company S-E hired for their Montreal center). Anyway, between network/backbone and Balmung, these four servers add 20-25+ to my ping, and I would really want to know why two of them (the unknowns) are there.

And still no response from SE. This is getting truly sad.

im a PS3 player and the PS3 lags so much harder the PC version does.. and it really puts a damper on avoiding AoE stuff.. Ill admit i sometimes can be slow and it takes me a bit to learn the fight but oncei have it learned I still get hit half the time.. and I have tried it on the PC and its better.. but still issues.. so this really needs ot be fixed.. i like the aoe doging dont get me wrong but i think for the lag/latency issues.. theres just TOO much of it.

The Problem here is, that she activated a skill just before the AoE, so she was locked in the 0,3 position check AND global cooldown - as clearly seen, she could not use any other skill before damage calculation! It may had helped if she changed running direction once she was out...

Players really shouldn't have to do all the stuff you listed to avoid an aoe. If you were listing it as a workaround to be helpful, props to you.. if you were saying they did it wrong and the game is fine with lag as is.. well.. I disagree. If the player is out by the red outline by the end of the cast (and the two -should- align so that the aoe effect on the screen can be relied on), then they shouldn't get hit. It really is as simple as that. Not.. prepare for aoe so stop attacking so you don't use a skill while in the aoe immediately after it shows up, move out, do a little dance and run the other direction, maybe throw in a pose as the skill goes off just to show the boss you didn't get hit.. and then resume attacking.

Why should we have to find work-arounds for something that should be so BASIC in an MMORPG? If you're outside the AoE area before the AoE marker disappears, you should NOT get hit!

It makes me paranoid when I'm running out of Titan's Plumes, I keep expecting to get hit way after I've left the AoE area! I shouldn't have to keep crossing my fingers each time I run from an AoE!

At what point do you decide you're done trying and you just leave S.E. to their flop? Also, bump.

Shouldn't be required to dodge an AOE.. same as using a skill after you're out, not using a skill while you're in, or having to dodge with x amount of time left on cast timer is left shouldn't be required.

That means, if I'm out of the aoe by the time the boss finishes his cast, I should not get hit. It's how every single other MMO works that I've ever played (Rift, Tera, Neverwinter, WoW, TSW.. any other MMO, literally). It's not out by 70%, or out by 80%.. out by the time it finishes.

The "problem" is not that people didn't use a skill when out of the aoe (the fact that doing that works shows it's not a latency issue, just by the way), or that they weren't out "soon enough" cause the cast bar was past 80%. The problem is that the indicators on the screen can't by relied upon to accurately gauge whether you get hit by something or not.

He means the enemy's cast bar..

AoE's are tied to the cast bar, but currently if you are not out of AoE by the time the cast bar gets to 70-80% (sometimes closer to 50% for people), then you will most likely get hit.

Try Guild wars 2 then, you'd be surprised.

A VPN is a good solution, yes we agree it shouldn't be necessary but actually it is, at least until they figure this out.

I have played Guild Wars 2, and I never had the issue, actually. I've literally had it in no other MMO. The 130 pages is because there hasn't been an official response. With servers located only in Canada, and an automatic 300 ms latency built into the game (.3 seconds per positional update), many of us are wondering if they even consider it a bug at all. They purposefully lowered it from .5 to .3 seconds after beta. We don't know if the .3 is permanent or not without insight.

So, a long thread, updated daily, with multiple examples given is the best way to maybe get a response (cause they do usually comment on things in the forums). I would much rather bump this, let people know it's not just them, and that it is still an issue, than just say nothing.

simple the problem is a problem for a good portion of the players. the 130+ pages is because SE has been ignoring the issue officially and the players want an official response.

Well yeah i get that, i guess it's not entirely their fault, it would explain the delay for an official response. For example my (french) internet provider is keeping in check websites like youtube and games like GW2. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd do the same with FF14.

They ignore this one because it started as a QQ about not being able to defeat Titan because of "lag".


While I acknoledge theres a lil bit of lag for me (I play with 100-120ms using proxy to the US), there is no excuse for not being able to kill titan unless you are playing with higher ping and then this issue is up to you to fix, not them. Because plenty of people kill Titan everyday.. I killed it yday 3 times and today 3 more times just to help guildies.

And if you are waiting till the castbar is at 70-80% to start to move... you deserve to get hit because you are a moron sorry. You are to move ASAP, not when it is about to end.

It is not entirely your fault tho what is happening because I have yet to see a /ping command ingame. I had to google to find out how to find my ingame ping.
They also have datacenters in Canada for NA and Europe it seems. Bad.

In any case the start of this thread is wrong. Blaming SE because you cannot kill Titan. Those videos are hillarious, moving far away and still getting hit. It has not happened to me a single time in such a exagerated way. How do you want SE to fix it for you... to go to where you live to see whats wrong??


Yoshida indirectly responded to this thread on the last letter by saying..

"In order to beat Titan in hard mode, Yoshida-san advised to keep the camera farther from the character, as it makes it easier to avoid the primal special attacks. At the moment many find it too hard because they keep the camera too close."

yes brilliant advice keep the camera further away just don't let the invisible walls hit your cam unless you like the view switching between first person and some random angle the cam bounced to. thats one of the worst problems in the instanced fights when the room is locked it becomes a camera pin ball game off the outer invisible walls.

If you keep your camera zoomed all the way out and up (for a 3/4 to 1/2 top down view like Baldur's Gate or LoL) then you never run into those issues.

Then your settings are screwed up somewhere. I've been in Titan no less than 50 times and never even once had the camera "bounce" or swing around while having it zoomed all the way out.

Protip: Don't lock-on target. It's just a bad habit in general.

The thread was never about Titan, it was misinterpreted as such. The thread has always been about server lag/positional update delay. Titan was used as the example because that's one of the fights where it becomes extremely evident. It wasn't a QQ thread about Titan being too hard, and absolutely no one in this thread has asked for a nerf.

Edited to add: Also worth noting that Yoshi also said that people haven't unlocked the hidden potential of Warriors in response to Warriors not being able to tank Turn 1 and Turn 4 as effectively as Paladins. He also commented that he didn't forsee that people would opt to take two Paladins into Coil when Warriors couldn't tank the stuff as effectively.

nope have tried every possible distance to stop having the cam suddenly go all over the place off the invis walls. as soon as the "BLAH BLAH has been locked off" notice happens on any ranged job if you havent moved an equal distance from the entrances as the cam or set up off an existing wall the invis walls will toss your cam usually in the opposite direction from the wall so you get to look behind you for a few and then it resets again to the inside of the invis wall. it also unlocks you from a target and interupts casts when it swings that way.

titan is a larger area than most instances is why it doesn't happen there. try standing in a ifrit fight right where the fire ring will be and have your cam all the way out behind you (over where the flames will be) before the lock down happens and say that it doesn't move your cam. if your cam is anywhere an invis wall will pop up your cam will be tossed into the room.

I'm not QQing about titan. I have two relic weapons. You're putting words in peoples mouths, and I am not sure why. I posted in here simply pointing out there is indeed a latency problem for some people. Using a skill outside of an AoE does not magically fix anything for me.

I didn't say anyone was QQing about Titan o.o Was saying this thread wasn't about that. Using a skill outside of an AoE has worked for many people (not all).. but if it was all latency, as some people are claiming, then that wouldn't work for anyone. For people that get it as bad as some of the videos posted, where they are out at 50% or so, it's latency along with the positional update.

I didn't have an issue clearing Titan, nor have I really had many issues in Coil since. The issue can be worked around just fine for most people, but that doesn't mean it's not an issue. I would also go as far as to say that when a company chooses to make their servers across an Ocean for a large portion of their player base, and their programming can't account for the latency that's going to cause, even the latency is then the company's fault.

Sorry, I didn't quote anyone because I was sort of directing my post at a few people at the same time. I rushed my post due to IRL stuff going on but it gets my points across anyway.

yoshida here, i play on a 0ms connection and a dev server with no more than 8 people logged into it, no problems here! zoom out your camera more!

With regards to Titan, I live in the states, and honestly don't have a problem with the delays for the AOE in his instance. (Meaning even if I'm not paying attention for a half-second or so I can still get out of them in time)

HOWEVER even while playing with experienced players who are overgeared for the fight, wipes happen frequently. This does tend to be more of a European player problem from what I've seen, which is sad because Ragnarok is literally an EU server.

I feel like there should be some way for the client itself to determine whether a player has evaded a particular move successfully. I know this would sometimes result in a somewhat flawed display end-result (meaning sometimes it would appear your party member got smacked when they didn't or vice versa), but I also think it would make these fights playable and equally challenging for those that can't progress due to latency issues and not a lack of skill/attention/reaction time/etc.

With regards to the orbs in Turn 1 and Turn 2 of the Coil, they are known to have wider AOE than markers show. Whether or not it's intentional, I don't know.

actually, i bet i can, you state your ping is 280, and i bet whats happening here, is that since you have 280 ping, you are seeing that red line, and that cast 280ms after it actually has already started, and when you move out of it on your screen, what you dont know by looking at it, is that the game doesnt know you moved at all, because when that popped up and showed you that red line 280ms late, it was actually already complete before you even moved in the first place. Thats the ONLY explanation to that.
