Alliance Raids and players not waiting for Cutscene Watchers

Probably the only workable solution is to get trust brought down into all the old content (much though I hate that idea). That however would come with the side effect that you would have people for whom this is their first MMO who then get to max level and have no idea how to play in group content with actual people. Trusts really are not good training for that.

Nowhere in my post did I state "most" and it is a huge chunk. Maybe not on daily basis but if you count those minutes on monthly basis or even yearly as subscriber, you've spend a huge portion of accumulated time on watching cutscenes. I'm not sure why that is hard to understand.

Here's an example: Let's say cutscenes became forced and on average, you would spend around 5 min each day (which is generous and not including Prae or Castrum) just on cutscenes.

Take 10 days, that's 50 min of cutscenes. Take a month, and you've wasted 150min on cutscenes which is around 2.5h.

Now then, let's say cutscenes in Praetorium are about 35 min. Cutscenes in Castrum are around 15.

In the worst case scenario of getting everyday Prae. I iterate. The worst case scenario.

That's 40 min on cutscenes EACH DAY along with the forced ones.

10 days, that 400 min which is 6.6h

30 days, aka a month = 19.8 hours just on cutscenes.

I'm not sure how clearer I should make this. I didn't even count in the total hours of queueing. Any increase to forced cutscene watching is another step towards not respecting the time of people.

I dont think Prae is a thing in this equasion tho? It was Alliance raids they mentioned.

I don't do MSQ-Roulettes because they bore me and people do MSQ out of their free will. I wont subject myself to it, thank you.
But heck, people use the time to do OTHER things than wait for the cutscenes to end, don't they? Smarter time usage than waiting for them to end.

People also do Alliance and other things out of their free will. And that Includes the start cutscenes and the end cutscenes. Not to sound too rude, but it's really not that much of a rocket science.

I legit can't math but by that math, your overall playtime still absolutely towers over cutscenes.

Heck, queue times for dps players is the most anybody has to wait, ever.
THAT is the timesink, not a 1-2 minute cutscene in a 10-20 dungeon or a 20-30 minute Raid.
Still very much out of proportion there because there are many things in many games that pad time in way worse ways than 1-2 cutscene after 10+ Minutes. Even this game does. Like the lovely Stun-Transitions many bosses have where you can do literally nothing else than watch. They are cool, but very long sometimes.

And i dont want forced cutscenes either.

I suddenly get a flashback to the Hollow Bastion Riku Cutscene from KH1, which my small self got to... know... really well....... really well...

Also to clarify:
I want NEW people to get to watch cutscenes in peace without people running ahead.
THAT is what i want.
I do NOT want Cutscenes to be forced because, even if i say that there will always be new people, you do not always always have new people in your group. I do like me a quick and speedy dungeon or raid myself, too.

This is probably the correct answer. Cutscenes in group content should last no longer than 10-20 seconds. Keep them brief as possible. I think they let Yoko get too carried away with the Nier raids storyline.

I generally disagree with waiting - they don't miss much by joining the fight a bit late, and I don't really want to wait for people watching the cutscene for the umpteenth time. (I've had many runs, almost daily, with no first time bonus and people watching the same *boss is spawning* cutscene).

Agreed. When I was going through for my own clears and saw how long some of them were, my first thought was "I thought they learned their lesson about how terrible this was with Praetorium and Castrum"

If we go by that logic, then you're kind of not cooperating/being a team player with the person watching the cutscene. Just as you can choose to pull before everyone is ready, other people can choose to stay behind until new people have seen cutscenes. Nice try though

No. While the person watching cutscene is an exemption, those who stay behind, not watching a cutscene are choosing not to participate. That is a conscious decision not to help. As you said “ nice try though”.

Bending the reality of things for a “gotcha” does not make it correct. The viewer is incapacitated in the moment. The others are not. There’s a clear difference.

If they start fighting when they get pulled in, they're still participating. They just didn't for whatever reason step into the arena at the same time as others. And there could be any number of reasons for that. They may have had a momentary distraction IRL. What exactly would a GM warn someone about there? Don't you dare take your eyes off the TV/monitor because someone else may rush in unexpectedly? That would just be incredibly silly and incredibly over-reaching of any GM.

So the situation becomes one person didn't go into the arena but joins in later when they can so they're still participating, and the other one or more people went in without them without warning. It's a difference in playstyle.

Also, VelKallor is correct about what was happening when cutscenes where skippable in Prae and Castrum. It was very common on my server and something I did quite often to put up "cutscene-watching" Party Finders where some of us vets helped preserve the new player experience by being patient and letting them watch cutscenes because Duty Finder for it was such a cesspool of speedrunners abusing the new players. Even got non-new players who would join so they would finally get to watch the cutscenes.
