"Everyone's so open and friendly" is a lie

Me running into rude or white knight paired with casual people is like an "Oh, forget your type exist". But when you do they test your TOS caring. Also almost got kicked from a paradigm breach raid for telling the tank to turn the boss around for the 2nd time (me playing dancer). Snakes in these grass and makes me not care for helping others much out of my way anymore.

I'd cut some slack ahah. There are 77 dungeons, 14 guildhests, 74 trials and 101 raids. To be expected to remember every single mechanic of these fights on the spot when they might not even be something you've done in months to years, is absolutely ludicrous.

I disagree. I was put off by this game for years because of forced dungeons within the MSQ. My time playing World of Warcraft for over 12 years gave me the fear of being yelled at for the smallest mistake in any group content (( plus political hate speech in larger raids, that is also pointless)). So I feared even going into the first dung because I'm not used to the game. But I didn't learn FFXIV don't have that problem till a few months ago, so I don't mind doing non FC pugging.

I don't miss all the hate speech as so called opinions in trade chat and the super toxic LFR chat. I don't miss the gen forums gaslighting players calling them bad because they pointing out a problem in the game. I don't miss the toxic players telling everyone to quit so their game can be their way and so more.

I want someone genuine in my life.

This basically describes a lot of the 14 community though. Bashing on others who point out obvious problems the game has. Telling to just unsub if they don’t like the game because they give criticisms etc.

I have never met those individuals or seen anything like that in game, and I've been playing since 2.0's beta. Either I've been lucky, or Primal's community is better than the impression you're giving me of Crystal's community.

you have been lucky. I have ran with every type of player on the primal center. Heck i got one a while ago that actually told me that i dont pay there sub, while i just asked them to stay with the group for a pvp match and not run off by them self.

My favorite one, when i asked a war what was wrong during a11 normal and he said "you dont need me because i suck" and just "dced" And i was being nice about and with no malice.

Crystal's community is pretty.... something, and this is coming from someone who had a main on Crystal until just recently when I switched to Aether. It can be nice on the surface but if you get some people to open up about their experiences with people who aren't commonly out and about, it can be just basically a big yikes. Then again, that could be said about any MMO community though.

While i *have* had my own fair share of....horrible experiences on crystal, ftmp im not even talking about that. Im talking moreso about some of the people on these forums,twitter,and reddit which, yes the latter two are toxic cesspools but they do make up a large portion of the community and the amount of people that are just absolutely against constructive criticism towards the game of any kind is scary. How is the game going to grow if people continuously gatekeep criticisms or just tell people to unsub because theres some aspects of the game they dislike and would like to be improved upon.As an example of Crystal shenanigans though, recently I literally got told im a toxic scumbag for asking people more than twice to aoe in a dungeon lol.

FFXIV has no direct competition and to be honest hasn't had one in years. The people against constructive criticism will feel justified because of the game's success. It's just not going to change until an actual new big successful MMORPG takes its place by offering what it doesn't. Or interest in MMORPGs collapses so bad the game loses significant income generation on its own.

I have a long list of peeves with its current design but I'm not expecting them to be addressed. Because despite what I think the game keeps growing in popularity.
