I'm starting to doubt Nerva is going to have much involvement in 6.0 at this point honestly, and feel like he was either used as a catalyst for summoning this "Garlemald" primal and/or has long since been tempered and is going be a major obstacle in our advance to the capital proper.
Him and the third legion seem like too much of a factor to have been simply let loose by Fandaniel and I think he had a malicious endgame for them in mind.
I suppose the end of 5.5 is liable to shed some light on that, though.

Nerva can be the Larsa of Garlemald with Gabranth/Noah performing a similar advisor role in FFXII

I want to believe the writers have some kind of plan for Nerva. As I do like to harp on about, his existence as Legatus of the IIIrd Legion is at odds with the previous canon of Titus Galvus having no ready heirs. And I doubt he was given a name because someone on the writing staff had a fetish for worldbuilding, since the Legatus of the Ist Legion went unnamed despite the Ist being the other party responsible for the civil war in Garlemald. But 5.5 kind of dropped a big steaming pile on the IIIrd Legion, and Nerva is conspicuously absent in the same manner as the Red and Blue Jongleurs after the attack on Eulmore. Not in the sense that he's disappeared, but in the sense that nobody seems to care about him anymore.
If he pops up in Bozja the day after tomorrow, I'll be happy. But I don't have high hopes of him being in the MSQ these days.
