Known, active characters are at http://xivsoul.com/ but take that list with a grain of salt - that's the total character count, not the number of concurrent logins, which is Balmung's problem. Lamia has had a short queue since launch, but nowhere near Balmung's problems, because most of our player population is still in sprout form and climbing to 50 and thus hasn't been playing 24/7 for the last three days.

What are the odds I can log in tonight after work ? Zero again ?

I was able to get on after 9:30 PST but not before even though I certainly gave it the old college try for about four or five hours. Better get in anything we can before the official release since I'd wager we are pretty much screwed at that point.

There is maintenance tonight, and I've heard it's to address the congestion issue. No official source on that, though.

hmm yea that seems to be wrong since yesterday that one Dev confirmed balmugn and gilg are number 1 and 2 in NA and that list has gilg under dead server like shiva

I'm not sure to call this a glitch/bug or if Square is kicking people off to prepare for the congestion of people returning home at this point XD. Also I really hope it is being addressed. I hadn't seen the maintenance notice. If they are trying to fix it I'm grateful. If not I'm a bit ticked that they are taking it down on the last night we have to play before they force us all on Aether to take a month hiatus until lobby errors aren't a constant battle.

Just started getting that 5006 error, myself. I don't understand why I have to sign back into Square Enix each time it happens, can't they have a remember me/stay logged in button for the PS3. Ugh...all my plants are going to die. /cry

Well, I've been in a 30 person queue for an hour, so probably "not good".

Although, prior to that I was receiving a message saying "World is full. Try again later.", so I'm not sure if that's progress or not.

I'm in the same boat as you. Been sitting in queue for a long time but the number never changes. I can't decide if I need to try resetting my client (and risk the 2002 error chain again) or if it would be better to keep waiting in the neverending queue of doom.
