The hyperbole is strong with this one. . .

They captured Raubahn, a guy strong enough to kick through a stone pillar. Could we have tipped the scales in Raubahn's favor? We don't know. And if we failed, which is possible, I don't see us making it out of that room alive.

Honestly I'm starting to think they should have not only allowed us to fight atleast Ilbred, but also make it an unwinnable fight. Even if people complained that it was unfair that SE made it impossible to win we can point out that its not even the first time such has happened in the FF series (looking at you in paticular Beatrix).

Primal wise we have an advantage over Raubahn and Ilbred in that we have (had? I keep forgetting by this point, I think its still have) immunity to their tempering, allowing us to fight without worry of being insta take-downed. But that doesn't mean they can't be stronger than us.

Look first we didnt have our weapon.

Second we dont know what would happen if they had all of us captured, they made false evidence against us, they got false witnesses. They could have imprissioned us all or execution in the right time. Scaping was our only choice, killing all those traitors there would have made things much more worse, but also we couldnt let them to captures us, like I said we are might no sure what could had happened there. Yes scaping is bad too, but we didnt had good choises we just had bad ones. We took the best bad choise we had, also we didnt try to scape until Rauban told us to go and that given the situation the life of the WoL was on danger.

Third and this reason also implied on why we scaped. The WoL maybe be powerfull enought to deal with a bunch of soldiers. But first remember we didnt have our weapon, aslo what happened there was really well planified. No matter how strongh we are, even the greatest of all warriors can fall if it is stabbed on his back with he is low guard and that is what happened. People we trusted or that we thougt that werent a thread to the WoL bretrayed us, and we were surrounded. No one spected of this, exepect the few loyal cirstal braves, but as far as we know, they all were murdered.

Last is that we werent really mark us "Fugitives", given our reputation and the support of common people the WoL is safe. Ul'dah may be a terrible place to go but that the chanse to arrest us was missed, but is not a place were we should stay. On the orther cities we have the full suport of the people and their leaders and we are welcome there but given the connections that the Crystal Braves might had is not safe to be neither there. Not on at the moment but when the moment is right we could be on danger. So thats why we went to a place were to WoL is starting to have a good name there but orther people that is not ishardian is not welcome at all.

Yeah, I think an unwinnable fight against Ilberd would have been perfect to humble players and remind them that no matter how strong we might be, we're still not the top dog. There's always someone stronger; remember, while you're definitely badass a lot of your skills were taught to you by other people.

And yes, our main advantage over other people in regards to fighting Primals is we can't be tempered. Midgardsormr only removed Hydaelyn's blessing of light (e.g. the shield that let us not get blown to bits by Ultima), and other people have downed Primals in the past, albeit with heavy losses (the Company of Heroes ring a bell?). It would stand to reason there are people on even ground with us in regards to combat efficacy.

I'm not so sure a fight in which we could not have won would have been the best with Ilberd. If you think about it then people will go WTF we can fight the Empire's best (The White Raven, Gaius) and even an Ascian Nabriales and still kick their asses and i'm meaning without us resorting to use the protection of Hydalen. Then it goes to make us say... shit why didn't Ilberd just go do the shit we're doing against the Garlean Empire and how the hell didn't he even get to the point of holding them back at Ala Mhigo.

I don't really believe an unwinnable fight, with Ilberd, would have been right. He's strong, obviously, but I think that we (the Warrior of Light) still out match him. It took armies, or a company of heroes, to take down the primals before. Story-wise, though, we take down the primals solo. Yes the Echo makes us immune to their influence, but we still possessed the skill to physically beat them, alone. I think Ilberd was only able to cuff us and toss us to the ground, in the royal chambers, because we had allowed them to take us without a fight. Since fighting back, would have just made us look more guilty, than we already did.

Ilberd was still quite young when Ala Mhigo was taken over by the Garlean Empire. He wouldn't have been able to do anything even if he tried. Now, several years later (I forget exactly how many), things are obviously a lot different.

As for all our feats and accomplishments, we weren't alone. We had several other skilled and capable (heh) adventurers alongside us to achieve those victories. Ever since Sastasha we've been told to find other adventurers to accompany us on those forays into the unknown.

Granted, however they were proposing a full no win fight with 8 against 1 and we were all by ourselves when it was 2 against one in the storyline and were able to defeat those two and i think they were on the same level as Ilberd is. Unless they meant 1v1 even then we could take on two people at the same time and defeat them of about the same power range.

I think the whole "Seek out other adventures to complete this" aspect, is solely for gameplay purposes. Story-wise, I think it's meant that we go in alone.

The part about us being more or less helpless without our weapons is starting to annoy me. I know the level of the character is not nearly as important a factor in determining the outcome of a battle as in 1.0 but does it really all come down to what weapon/gear we have now, i.e. ilvl? Is that all we are after all we have accomplished, just as good as the tool and with a poor weapon our skill, strength and experience counts for nothing except to allow us to wield better weapons/tools? That's a rather sad way to look at character progression if that is the general gist.
