Yeah, ok. I post a silly pic that says "jealous much" and you immedately jump into defense mode and call me "butthurt" (which makes no sense, because what would I be butthurt about? LOL) and go on a tangent about NDA rules. Oh yeah, UMad. Most people I've encountered on these forums didn't need instructions on how to take a good lighthearted ribbing, because they hae a sense of humor. Seriously, relax dude. I know, internet is srs bzns. But it doesn't always have to be.

It's okay to mention that you got into the beta.
It's breaking the rulles to post screenshots and talk about the game itself. Not that we havn't been going around and looking at them anyway.

I feel the same way pretty much. I understand that not everyone gets alpha, but I really want to know what the choosing process is. There has to be different specs of PC's and connections to test it, but isn't high end PC taken into consideration? I have pretty much top notch everything in my PC along with a long history of testing alphas for games. If I didn't get chosen is fine, but isn't that a perfect contender for an alpha tester on the high end? It only makes me feel that people are getting picked completely by random and the specific spec process is complete bull.

I'm all happy with Skyrim right now so it is all good, but I do really hope that legacy members are priority in the beta test.

All things considered it's truly sad to see how many that supported the game through thick and tin are being excluded from the possibility to give direct feedback on the alpha, in favor of people that stopped caring long ago, no less.

That's why I love kickstarter and support as many games as my wallet allows there. You support a game? The developer recognizes it, takes your feedback very seriously and will do whatever he can to provide you with the proper means to provide that feedback (automatic access to alpha, beta and so forth). And that's why I have a reasonable amount of confidence that games like Star Citizen will come out very nicely.

It's simply unfortunate that here our support hasn't been equally considered and the feedback of those that have been here through the hardest times isn't equally valued.

Hopefully the selection process for the beta will be less wacky.

You're not grandfathered into beta this time around, so that means their: "Try to get active/legacy players into beta" will likely go haywire again like it did in Alpha.

Selection for closed Alpha and betas are never fair and cannot be with limited resources. And it doesn't matter how vocal you are. Only Open betas are fair.

There are a limit amount of servers and content so is no way they can stuff everyone in a tiny box in a few zones. You should at least appreciate that SE is keeping alpha up for a long time, rotating in new testers in as current testers drop off. Selection is probably prioritized based of the application details to test a variety of clients.

At the end of the month we'll just start a whole new round of QQ threads.

You know, small companies with very limited budgets operating on kickstarter manage to get in all their supporters. It's a little unrealistic to argue that Square Enix can't. Just as it's unrealistic to argue that the active community of FFXIV is so big that it's impossible for SE to fit in all those that decided to stick with the game and show their support.

Even arguing that the servers were too limited to fit everyone in, there would have been several ways to make it more fair, like a very simple turnover that closes the alpha to those that have been invited first (and had plenty time to test already) to leave the whole servers free for those that didn't have a chance yet.

It's really very simple. Feedback from those that provided support to the game up to now should have been valued more. Others that have much less resources than SE manage it with no problem. It's simply a pity that it didn't happen.

Some people confuse simple, balanced and rational criticism of a situation that should have been handled better with "crying", "rage" or "butthurt".

You're obviously one of those people. Then here's a hint: Not everyone that dares to criticize Square Enix is motivated by irrational feelings.

I'm simply expressing my criticism, and as far as I know, that's one of the primary reasons for which this forum even exists.

I'd rather they just shut the V1 servers and opened up more Alpha servers on the hardware.

hard to say if that would be possible. We don't know if the old servers have the same hardware as the new one. Testing the game on outdated hardware could give flawed results.

Maybe because expressing criticism is one of the main purposes of this forums. Abriael, I'm also a supporter of SE, and I've also been around since the early days of 1.0, but I didn't get a single invite.

It's really not the end of the world. I get that you believe that being a longtime sub should get you priority access into alpha, but not everyone agrees with that. At the very least, SE doesn't agree with that. You know, beta is just around the corner. And that's phenomenally better than alpha. Just be patient, you'll get to try the game out for yourself soon enough.

Yes. It's not the end of the world. That's why I'm not "angry", "crying" or "butthurt", but I'm instead providing criticism in a balanced and rational way in the midst of a lot of people throwing insults and trying their hardest to antagonize those that dare to be disappointed with the situation.

Very few things are the end of the world. Even ARR launching and after that crashing and burning wouldn't be the end of the world. There are plenty of games to play in the market. This doesn't mean we should provide criticism only on what would be the end of the world.

I'm sure SE doesn't agree with the fact that longtime subscribers should get priority to testing, and that's exactly why I provide my criticism. If they agreed, I and others wouldn't need to criticize at all.

In the same situation other developers simply considered and consider the feedback of their supporters better than SE did (and we're talking about developers that have but a fraction of the resources and budgets SE has). I think bringing it to their attention has value, and that's why I do it.

As for the beta being around the corner, that's great (providing that it's true, as we really don't know and won't until they release the updated roadmap), but it's simply besides the point. As a matter of fact, criticism is important to let SE know that maybe there are better ways to consider the feedback of their long time supporters than they did with the alpha.

If anything what SE has been doing is smart they have sent Alpha invites to a lot of popular mmo players on twitch t.v who gets like 5-20k views per day and those guys have been talking fondly of the game.
