The growing entitlement issues of the casuals

this is the attutude that is the issue.... Like i said a ton.. my 2 hr limit was not something i expected when buying ffxi. Nor was my fault.
why should I get punished from doing something fun in a game?

remember its a game guys. we all pay the same money to buy it, we all pay thr same money to pay for it when fees are put in. A person no matter how much time they have should get to try 100% of a pay they paid for.

no offence your .... oo can't say it.

i can play ffxi or ffxiv for 20 hrs a day. In ffxi i got left out of stuff due to not alot of ppl who could do the event. If that something you guys want be prepared to have a slowly dieing game w/o ppl subbing after a while. or it never gets off the ground. I had time in ffxi just no other people as everyone with time already had their groups.

They can't just revolve content for everyone around an individuals experience such as yours. I'm sorry you feel like you were left out in FFXI, but if you seriously played 20 hours and couldn't do much it sounds to me like it's more your fault. I didn't play that much a day and I did pretty much everything possible.

I respect that you feel everyone should have access to 100% of the content, but not everyone has the same play style. They shouldn't revolve every bit of content around any 1 play style. I don't see many hardcores expecting everything to be made for them, but yet the casuals do. There needs to be content for both play styles. Everything being casual = bored hardcore players just as if everything was hardcore would = bored casuals.

Lol effort and reward is a joke in MMOs. Take for instance me who claimed and killed deggi 32 times in FFXI and never got the drop and several people I knew I went 1/1 and I saw many more during my time in the god forsaken area that I didnt know but who also went 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3, cause I'd ask them post claim and kill just to add to my insanity and frustration. Who put out more effort? Who got the reward? Systems such as this are broken and stupid and reward whoever whenever at complete randomness. Also went 0/12 on bcnm 40 under observation for a PC, my buddy went 1/3. Again who put in more effort? Who got the reward? BS.

the more people who have access to stuff, the more people there is to form groups. Get it guys? if you limit content based on time you limit the amount who can do the event weather they have time or not.

I had time to play ffxi, just not enough people. I couldn't always do dynamis at night. I couldn't always do sea. And I had limited options for doing these events when I do get to play.

needless time sinks are needless. Nor does time in the event = difficaulti.

I much rather have everyone playing the same game so there is more choices then limit the game, and the players I can play with.

I would to love to have done dunamis or sky with my friends, but not all my friends could thats what was wrong in ffxi.

then expect a niche game that will be dead in 4 years. i only got limited because i couldn't find people to do this stuff with. do you get that?

No person on here is asking forhand outs. People should have access to 100% of the content and get a chance as any peice of gear. You time doesn't = any more or less right to stuff.

Are you sure you quoted the correct post when you replied?

Where did I say give somebody a handout? And where did I imply a difference of time invested? I specifically said that equal invested time (of successfully defeating encounters) should yield equivalent rewards, regardless of group size/people required to defeat the encounter.

You get what you give really does apply here.

Let's say that a group of 10 "hardcores" defeat a boss. After 50 hours of successfully defeating that boss, multiple times, each of those 10 people have earned a piece of gear.

Now let's say, that a solo player has spent 30 hours defeating a solo boss, multiple times, and after those 30 hours, he now has a piece of gear equivalent to the gear that each of the "hardcore" players have now (this takes into account that 1 of the group of 10 gets the gear on the first drop and the 10th person gets their piece on the 10th drop)..

How is that a hand out?

Half of the arguments I see here boil down to something akin to casual players shouldn't feel entitled because the hardcore players are..

EDIT: OK after re-reading a couple of times I get your gripe... You don't fit into the "most casual players generally prefer solo/small group content".. you are the casual player that prefers the content usually associated with hardcore players. Hmm.. Well.. If I am correct in what I previously stated, you kinda fall into a grey area.. However, even in that grey area, you should still get an equivalent reward for your time invested.

Let's get one thing straight.. I consider myself a hardcore player.. at least for end game. I take my time leveling, but once I hit level cap, I eat content like a termite eats wood. I have no problem putting in 5 hours a night, every night, doing end game content.

However.. I very much believe that the person who cannot devote that amount of daily time, should still feel as rewarded/fulfilled after the same amount of in game time as I do. If it takes me, on average, 20 hours of in game play to earn a new piece of gear, it should take the more casual player 20 hours of in game play to ear a new, equivalent, piece of gear. The fact that I hit those 20 hours in less than a week and the other person may take 6 weeks to hit that time invested is irrelevant.

Ill say this again

if you cant do something because you do not have the time to commit to reach it, then it IS NOT the games job to cater to you

if leveling to 50 to access content is too much, too friggin bad

the content is still available to you, you just dont have the drive to obtain it

if you must farm items for 10 hours to gain a token to access a dungeon, then you can do it slowly

just cuz you dont want to put 10 hours in(cuz it may take you weeks) doesnt mean the content isnt accessible by you


Again, if you dont have the time, you just dont have the time, period, end of story.
The solution isnt to make everything quicker to do so that you can do it that much sooner., Which is exactly what you are asking for Kilta

Game can't be centered around chilluns who play from 3:30 when they get home from school to 11 at night every day.
