[dev1008] About Jumping

Jumping would be great, I think a poll will be necessary to decide.

If they implement a jump feature I will quit this game. The thought of my feet leaving the ground especially in a video game is just terrifying. I mean, you could totally jump away from a mob when its fighting you. I did that once and had to do my rosary 3 times just to be forgiven for my wrong doing. And I swear if I saw people spamming jump or even jump across my screen while I was playing I would put my head in my hands and cry. I hear people saying that modern MMOs have a free jump implemented and they are successful. Honestly, I think this is a lie brought on by trolls who want to give bad influence to this game because they don't want it to succeed. They say things like it gives immersion to open worlds by being able to explore and climb mountains and hills. But I say that is a lie, too. If you leave the path through the zones that SE made in this game you are just looking for trouble and I don't think any reasonable person, only trolls because they are bad, would want to explore the world beyond its path.

I have a great idea. How about, if you dont want to jump then dont lol.

I think we should have a poll to decide whether we should have a poll.

As for jumping, all I want is for it to be introduced in a way that makes sense. For those of you who might not know about Final Fantasy, the only job class that has traditionally been able to use jumping in combat has always been the dragoon, so keep that in mind. This IS a Final Fantasy game after all, not just your random MMO. It has to be true to that fact first and foremost.

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Priceless!

Adding an Auto-jump like FF7 or FFXIII would be completely acceptable. Or even a severely limited manual jump (not jumping off cliffs that are "too high", not allowing "jump spam", keeping some invisible walls around areas you are not meant to access, etc).

I disagree with your premise. No such thing as "too obvious", too subtle might actually be taken seriously, and next thing you know, the board is plastered with arguments that only trolls leave the path because they're bad.

So to preserve the right for the title to bear the Final Fantasy name, I should continue to get stuck on pebbles, just like the one in that one doorway in Ro'Maeve?

The honest truth is that my main reason for consistently voting in favor of a free jump ability is because they will never. never. never. NEVER. iron out all those little pebbles and bumps that shouldn't stop you... but do.

I'm curious where "all these little pebbles that I'm getting stuck on" are? I've never found them. The only time I'm running or auto-running and get stopped is when I hit a hill or a very easy to see rock.

But I'm willing to compromise. Auto-jump or limited manual jump would be just fine.

I noticed this thread has over 8000 views. Obviously this topic has struck a nerve with some and raised high hopes for others, if you want jumping PLEASE go post under the thread "Jump,Yay!" stating that you want jumping. If you do not, please post on the thread "Jump,Nay!" that you do not want jumping. Please dont discuss why or why not on those threads, first lets figure out if jumping is or is not what the masses want, if they do want it then let the devs make a poll for the specifics as to how we would like the implementation of jump to function. Come on people! Lets settle this, im tired of what and why.

I mostly find them on the road while running across Thanalan. I'd also accept your compromise.
