Sorry but these groups are nothing more than the hacker with Hero Syndrome. The fact is if they didn't DDoS attack then the servers wouldn't be down.

So supposedly PSN is back up. I live here in California and Iam wondering why in the world its STILL not working for me.... Anyone else still experiencing this???

Doesn't work in a latency-sensitive service such as PSN. Sorry, there is pretty much nothing that can be done besides spending millions on a service that explicitly deals with DDOS attacks (Sony did that, the attack was just exponentially larger than anticipated, and could be one of the largest attacks ever perpetrated). Even if that's done successfully, you simply start attacking ISP and server infrastructure that leads TO the servers you want to DDOS.

I understand everyone wanting to place blame here, but it should be placed squarely on those who started the DDOS attack. There is only so much that can be done to curb an attack of this magnitude.

Supposedly they are only allowing so many people in at a time. Not working for me either. I either get Connection Timed Out, or Lost Connection to Server. And that's just trying to sign in to PSN.

PSN is not a singular entity, its actually composed of many different servers across the world. Its most likely that the local server that you use to connect to the main body of PSN is down, being repaired or having its database rebuilt. This is why things can be so spotty, and why some people can connect and others can't.

I'm so behind now, its going to be a long day when psn is up. >.<

I just got in on PS4, even though PS Knowledge Center still says PS4 is down.

Like the above poster, I'm also in California.

Another fun fact, back in November, some Hong Kong websites were the target of a large-scale DDOS attack.

Debating how or if its possible to prevent them isn't though...unless I misread the wording of the title of this thread? The only person who has an issue with me here is you. I'm not looking to argue with anyone :/ Arguing doesn't solve anything, its not constructive, and it doesn't make me feel better either. I wish I could say the same for everyone else, though. You have a nice day :D

Also, I've yet to try logging on since people are saying its coming up again. The psn down time thing is usually late to update though. Hopefully its happy gaming from here on out, peeps!
