Happens often with Main Scenario Roulette and the Alliance Roulette, its easy to slack there, especially if you are a DPS. Groups should be more strict and start kicking the slacker the moment they start AFKing. I did Alliance Roulette and one of the DPS never fought in the boss fights, he/she always stood outside the barrier. The first time I said nothing, because things can happen. At the second boss, he/she also stood outside the barrier. This is when I knew he/she was slacking/AFKing. I tried communicating with the slacker, but no response, I told the group what was going on and someone started the vote-kick, but it did not pass. The third boss, the AFKer stood once again behind the gate and the same happend with the fourth boss.

The minion was one of the reward items and the AFKer won the minion and left the group. :mad:

Here's a positive one for you guys. Was doing my alt on mateus yesterday and taking him through Heavensward. I had just hit the Vault as PLD and hopped on in. Now we had a pretty good run through it up to.... Charibert. Holy hell here's where things went south. The healer did their best but unfortunately I wasn't the only new one and one of the dps died to chains. We wound up wiping.

I caught I was hitting the wrong button and not switching back to Shield after I switched to Sword for fireballs and I fixed that. We wiped a second time when the dps died again to chains. At this point, you'd think I would blame the others. I mean I thought I was cycling cooldowns and all that but something had caught my own attention. My health was dropping too quickly, and the healer was doing a fantastic job. So while the other dps got tips regarding chains, I examined my own gear and realized that I was part of the blame. See, I'd forgotten to switch out my head, hands, bracelet, and neck... they were still friggin ironworks. As someone who has PLD maxed on my main I had one hell of a 'how the hell did I let this happen" moment. Thankfully, that third run we passed. I died first and then the healer died as the lb knocked the boss to 5%. the dps finished it from there. Honestly, I was really ashamed of myself for letting myself forget about my ironworks. I honestly wish I could've commed each one of those guys for putting up with it. There were no whispers of votekicking, no abandon attempts. They stuck with it and got the clear in the end. If you guys are reading this, Thank you so much for being patient, for putting up with a numbskull who made a pitiful mistake.

And now a... bit of a headscratcher moment. Lancer in Thornmarch(hard) that had DRG unlocked. Nuff said.

That sounds a lot worse than my experience, honestly. As far as I know, the WHM that had it out for me just kept it between parties and only if I was in said party.

I have no clue what people hope to gain from being so nasty. It really does ruin the game for some players, though maybe that's what they want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The warrior is from a different team. He somehow got glitched directly into a different team's spawn point before the match even began.

It's uncommon for weird stuff like this to happen, but not impossible. PvP in general can be a bit janky at times. I heard of one case last year where AN ENTIRE ALLIANCE spawned inside a different alliance's spawn point before the match, so they were all already glaring daggers at each other.

As much as I don't consider Royal Menagerie (normal) a hard fight, yesterday it was definitely a challenge. I had been healing it with another whm co-healer who casted protect at the beginning, then medica II before the fight started and then proceeded to tank the floor for the majority of the fight. When I ressed them, they didn't even healed themselves while I was trying to keep the rest of the party alive and died again. The first try I had to use LB3 twice, then accidentaly stood too close to the edge when aerial blast landed and got blew off the platform. Naturally my co-healer was dead and with no smn or rdm, it was a wipe (the boss was around 11 %). I apologized, one dps left but other immediately filled the spot and we went for another round.

The dps got much better at avoiding stuff and not sliding off the platform except, you guessed it, my co-healer. Then the tail landed, broke the tile and I took a wrong step. And fell off. Apologized again, feeling like a complete idiot, and off we went once more. Nobody left, nobody said a word, and I was actually thankful for not being bashed about it.

Third time a charm, we cleared, but I can't count how many times I ressed the other whm through all the encounters, it was probably rather embarassing. With my terrible sleeping deficit from the previous day and the amount of "wait, what's this mechanic again?" moments, it was rather harsh lol.

Ran Keeper of the Lake for my WT (level 50 dungeon). Got a RDM who only spammed Scatter, even during single target and a DRG who never AoEd once.

At least I can trust my friend (the WHM) and me (the WAR) to actually do something...

Two stories today, one good, one bad.

Good story....

Did EX roulette before it reset and got Temple of the Fist. Got to the last boss and healer/other dps died so me(monk) and paladin tank ended up killing the bosses last 30% hp. Ended up close as the PLD was running out of mana to selfheal.

Ex roulette after reset and got Skalla. FFS TANKS DRAG KELPIE OUT OF THE RED STUFF ON THE OUTSIDE AFTER IT DOES THE PUSH/PULL MECHANICS!!!!!!!

Had a fun time in Rabanastre, on the second boss our party was struggling which you know I could care less people still learning mechs w/e. What hit me was that it was only me and our whm in our party alive near the end, so hey at least we still have a healer right rez/heals WRONG. After getting hit by 2 quakes I am sitting there like getting pretty low could use a heal so I look at their cast bar and behold. Aero III being spammed and im just sitting there crying not like this and I die to the 3rd quake.

So the raid wipes, I am pretty mad at this point so I say I wish I got a heal, instead of watching my whm spam aero III. They respond "Its not my problem if people are not in range/dodging mechs." and they leave. Apparently quake iv is avoidable and I am just bad.

I think from now on if I see Bardam's, I should immediately leave. I've had issues there in the past, where there was a 60-75% chance if a tank did big pulls it would be wipe. I've asked for advice on healing big pulls, etc, and tried to use it. But to be fair, I post something like (fyi still struggle with big pulls) now. No reason to let tanks think I can handle it without speaking up. Tank tonight is very nice and offers to pull small and does.

The run still sucks. On the fifth or sixth small pull tank dies. I saw him at 20% and tried to cast Benediction but he was dead before the spell reached him. Final boss, tank died 15-20 seconds in. I had put on a Regen was casting a couple Stones then had to stop to heal the tank but I had to dodge a mechanic and he was gone. We tried again, had to rez tank twice.

Usually it's me to blame in Bardam's and it may be the case this time as well, but, it doesn't matter. Every run I've had in that place has been awful and as healer when tanks die a lot you have to figure you shoulder a lot of the responsibility. Sorry to the party I ran with tonight.

Yeah, I mean:

I got this exact complaint in Skalla recently. But, I couldn't move him back to the center because the puddles were dropped in the center of the room. The only safe place to stand was on the edge. :P

Well, you move it a bit close to the center, then you rotate him sideways so the DPS can use their positionals.

Like the last boss from Skalla. I've found that tanking him sideways, at the north of the stage, is the best position. As you minimize the area covered by the tail and the DPS can chill with more room for maneuverability (and mitigating the proximity damage AoE).

I get you. My complaint was for the tanks who don't move him/her(no clue what gender Kelpie is lol) period after the push/pull regardless of puddle placement.

So I signed up for my Trial Roulette this evening as AST and got Susano Normal with another AST. They went Nocturnal, which is fine, even though I do prefer that sect instead of Diurnal. They seemed okay even if they didn't really do much in the way of DPS—I'll take a competent, safe co-healer as opposed to someone that makes me do all the work.

Well...

Jump to after his ultimate and this person dies five times, leaving me to basically solo heal the remainder of it. I eventually just stopped raising them since it was a waste of MP at that point. Two other DPS bite the dust, but we still manage to pull off a win and I even threw out some AoE Balance and Spear to boot.

Do you think I got one stinkin' commendation? Nope! Not even so much as a thank you or good job.

So I decided to queue for Expert Roulette, as PLD, while I was half-asleep. Skalla loads in, an AST and 2 BRDs. I warned them that I was tired as hell, and off we go.

At some points, it got a tad rough - I'm ilvl 318 on PLD, the AST had barely 30k HP in the dungeon, and the BRDs had 38k and 34k HP respectively. But for the most part, I managed to hold aggro, even when the BRDs ripped it off. I didn't react to mechanics as fast as I should've, but c'est la vie.

But this AST. Oh, this AST. I don't think I ever saw Synastry. Or Earthly Star. Or anything except Benefic II spam to keep me alive. Combined with Gravity spam, they had serious MP issues even though they never had to cast a single Raise, and both BRDs were feeding them Refresh. I've never had to seriously spam Clemency on myself, in the middle of pulls, just to stay alive.

My worst run is when I did the Library (before Stormblood era) and literally only one person was nice to me. The DPS kept dying from not dodging. I might be a WHM but that doesn't mean I can save you from 1-hit KO's and lack of knowledge of mechanics. The painful part was they were all nooblets on their first run of it. How was that my fault? I'd farm it for tomestones. I wasn't new. They were SO rude though. I dropped that. Hope they had fun with their 30 minute wait. I'm still salty. lol. If you yourself are new and have no idea what to do, DON'T BE A BUTT NUGGET. Especially to your healer. I took a break from playing for a month over that mess. The worst part was I only que'd because Healer was Adventurer in Need.

When I have a couple of good runs in a row I know eventually a nuce story for this thread is coming.


Today I did some things with friends from the forums and then after they went to bed I wound up queueing with a few FC members for Rabanastre. Smoothest run I've seen so far, such strong dps from 2/3 groups. We actually wiped once on the third boss of all things because group A failed the DPS check on their add but the SMN from our FC went in with them next time to I'll their add for them, everything else went great.

Did an Expert after that, all FC members. Kugane Castle hardly lasted 13 minutes with no deaths or even almost deaths even on the full pull from the second to third boss.

Then I queued for Trial Roulette alone.

Ugh.

I get Shinryu which is always fun. Everyone but me and the tanks die to Tidal Wave. I raised 22 times in this run, I know because I recorded it and counted. We actually never wiped but everyone who was not me or a tank died to virtually everything that can kill you. Thank god for amazing WHM mp sustain and strong tank DPS.

I've had some real up and down DF luck lately, would be great if t would even out a bit.

So today I had a super frustrating run. I was just trying to get the daily leveling roulette done on a dps job (SAM) and was already pretty annoyed because my game kept acting up and I got booted twice while nearly through with two 20ish minute dps queues. I finally got into one and it was Sastasha, which was weird because everyone in the group was synced down by at least 10 levels.

Red flags went up immediately when the other dps and tank (who apparently had queued together,) had barely zoned in and greeted the healer and I by telling us to leave. Apparently they weren't happy to get Sast, and wanted one of us to take the lockout so that they could leave without it and re-queue. Well there was no way I was going to eat the penalty after all the trouble I had to get into the instance in the first place, so I suggested we just get it over with. After stalling for another minute or two, obviously hoping one of us would bail, the tank pulled. Things went fine up until the room with the clams, when the tank suddenly took off and pulled everything between the first clam and the first boss. As you can see, I was kicked for simply pointing out the obvious. In hindsight though I'm pretty sure they just wanted to boot me immediately after the 5 minute timer was up so that they could bail without the penalty and re-queue. :mad: Supper frustrating behavior but nothing really to be done about it except vent a little and re-queue myself. (Dps queue timer is up to 27 minutes now, hurrah.)

Part of the reason why I hate how the leveling roulette works. For the longest time, I thought the reason I ended up in newbie dgns was because someone in the party matched the dgn lvl (and that I don't mind). Yesterday proved me wrong when I ended up in Brayflox and the lowest lvl out of us was 60something. I'll never tolerate what does guys did to Rymm but honestly, the current system doesn't help

Why didn't I take my own advice? Advertised again at start for small pulls, got them (I still had some nervous moments but no wipes), until tank forgot, pulled big, and also left the blue safety bubble left by the Summoner. Back on track to last boss, then I got caught be the eye. Also got caught by it in the mechanics "boss" and in the previous dungeon. Yet I was turned at least 1.5-2 seconds before it went off. *sigh*

Anyway, tank dies to heavy damage, I rez but it kills me, Summoner casts rez on wrong person, wipe. DPS leaves, DPS joins, fairly smooth second boss fight and everyone bolts for exit.

Is DPS easier than healer? I don't care about comms or being a hero, but then again queue times are very long...

Again, apologies to my Bardam group.

I mean usually can't comment on DPS jobs but I leveled RDM to 66 from the ridiculous Yo-Kai FATE grinds, and it's easy to learn Jolt->VerAero, Jolt->Verthunder, plus VerStone and VerFire when they proc plus that single target OGCD nuke and Scatter for AoE on mobs... You can get fancy with the sword stuff too if you really wanna show off.

ah i wasn't responding to your post, apologies. the rest of my entry mysteriously got deleted... but i agree. :/ there's no excuse to not know your rotation when you're practically at lvl70.

but yes! shisui run with a rdm that only used jolt, at lvl68....... kudos to that blm for pulling their dead weight. what really got me was their friend (the whm) basically enabled their poor performance.

Didn't think you were responding to me, just curious like, reeeeally?

I mean, I totally get that some DPS rotations are confusing, especially to new players. But, even if you just spammed Jolt->Veraero and the occasional Verstone proc you would do better damage. I've only done FATEs and didn't think the concept was especially out there. Summoner, Black Mage, etc. are much more difficult. Plus the melee DPS with their positionals.

Dear WHMs who over-gear my AST by at least 2 patches and get stuck with me in Shinryu NM: please actually heal.

Luck would have it that I queue into Royal Menagerie for Trial today - even made a comment before the gate went down about how I would get that when my gear is pretty crap. Co-healer is a WHM, so despite not being all that great at it compared to Diurnal, I switch to Noct so we have shields. Tank pulls once buffs are going, and near immediately we have a partial wipe because no one remembered to move for Tidal Wave + we had a few new people. Try again from the top, and I notice very quickly that our tanks are dying left and right in the few seconds it takes me to juggle cards around. I look to my WHM co-healer and what are they doing? Literally spamming nothing but Stone, not even trying to heal the nearly-dead tanks... I guess expecting me to do all the healing. Both the tanks died a combined total of probably 10-12 times and not for a lack of effort on my part, but simply because I literally could not keep up with all of the damage going out to the group as well as attempting to keep our tanks topped off.

I was pretty much healing all by myself - Lightspeed going all the time, constantly putting down Stars, shielding as much as possible and Synastry out the wazoo. But my gear is just barely above the AF stats (mostly running Mhigan still with a couple Ivalice pieces) and with so many new people having trouble with mechanics, I just could not do it all on my own. I think at some point the WHM realized they maybe should do some healing... by way of Medica 2 spam. Then right back to Stone when they had the chance. I even had to use the LB3 to get most of our dps up because they weren't hardly stopping to res anyone either.

It's things like this that admittedly have made me become nervous as both a co-healer and a dps when I see a WHM in full raid gear. Almost all of them seem to tunnel vision rock throwing over doing their actual job and it's stressful no matter what role I'm on. I say this as a WHM main who is very gung-ho about dps, too. ; ;

Had a similar start tonight in same trial (I was WHM) but opposite in that I could mostly only heal, rez, heal. But we got through after the first Tidal wipe despite lots of health dropping all over like stones. Co-healer was good. Sorry you had a stressful run. I don't mind doing DPS but not when people are dying.

Dear players going into Sirensong Sea with level 50-59 i110-i150 item level weapons.

You can buy a level 60 i255 weapon from an NPC in Castrum Oriens for a measly 36k gil that is immensely better than those even if it is NQ.

On my server for example you can even get an i255 HQ from marketboard for only 45k gil.

Surprised that you might get kicked? Start caring about how you affect the people who get grouped with you and maybe they'll start caring about you. Ignorance doesn't give you an excuse to make other player's carry your extremely low DPS/low healing/can't hold hate on tank because you didn't care enough to spend a few mins to see where you could get a cheap upgrade.

New player on their first job okay I get it, but the people I see doing this have multiple level 70 jobs. Seems to me you just don't care so don't be surprised if you get kicked since you obviously don't care about the rest of your party don't expect your party to care about you, that's just silly to expect at that point.

I'm always perturbed by things like this. A battle can be going to crap multiple times over, always because the same person or two keep repeating the same mistake, and another person tells them they're doing great. Meanwhile, you work your ass off, save the fights, try explaining what needs to happen or why, and then end up with zero comms, regardless of role, more often than not (I've literally had this happen on tank, on healer, and on DPS, all). Note: I'm not particularly worried about getting comms, but it's still a brow raiser to see this sort of thing happen.

In fact, on a related note, here's what happened to me today when I ran Sohm Al hm on my Warrior. It may not be my best tank in terms of player skill, but that's not the point, nor the fact that I did alright. No one was new, according to the lack of tome bonus, and no one spoke up about wanting tips on anything. Still, this one Red Mage... Died twice in the first boss to the large exploding bulbs (second time being right after rez), again in the second boss to the fire breath, and then survived the last boss. HOWEVER, none of the dps helped me with the glowing adds so one barely managed to leave a pool of lava, but hey at least the non-glowy adds were handled fast. The DPS left puddles of lava in the middle of the arena, restricting where I was able to go to move the boss as needed. The last fight was just a mess. Cue all three of my party members congratulation one another on their "good job" once it was over.

Not the worst experience I ever had in there, by far, but goodness gracious.

Also, I'd suggest holding off on the DPS until you get the healing piece down. I know groups want you to bring the DPS but they'd prefer not wiping more. People tend to be understanding if the reason for not DPSing is that you're learning, and not the typical "it's not my job".

I'm not going for dps because of expectations in the sense of people wanting numbers or fast runs, it's because people see WHM and think they can pull everything in the dungeon and expect super-powered heals and stuns from Holy to burn things down fast. So I ask for small pulls. And still struggle some. If the tank does really big pulls in a dungeon like that and I do no dps/stuns, which is fine with me, it often means Presence of Mind + chain Cure 2/Benision + Regen with Largesse + oGCDs+ luck for many tanks to keep them up because they are really getting wailed on without interrupts of any kind on the mobs. I try to balance getting those stuns at the start while the damage dealers get a burn going with reverting back very fast to heal-heal-heal-heal-oh-crap-heal...

Anyway, it's not an i-level thing (I went from i289 to i315 over the past few weeks after being gone a a month or three), it's just me. I've received advice from my FC and the forums, have tried variations on some openers. Still struggling for now but still keeping at it as well. And have really come to loathe Bardam's as I get dropped there so often. Even on my birthday :p

Only suggestion I can give, is practice more. Maybe do some runs with FC members who will ease you into the larger pulls to get you more comfortable/familiar with them. Just hopefully they aren't like the people in my FC when I first started healing...they didn't bother to go slow, it was an all or nothing type of training.

As for a story, finally had a wipe free run of Rabanaster on Tuesday night, helped that my alliance had SCH, WHM, DRK, MCH, and 3 RDM. I only personally died once, and I helped res people in other alliances thanks to the trick I read about on the forums(playing on PS4, hold L1 and use the D-Pad left and right to get to them) which will help me get the achievement for resurrecting non-party members much quicker.

Sorry to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure people in the other parties of the same alliance don't count. :/
