Why do I need to raid to have fun? Why is the choice hardcore Raid or AFK? This is what we're talking about. Where's the mid-core, why am I being blamed for not wanting to do the dull grind when I'm just looking for some mid-core engaging gameplay. I want more Eureka, Bozja, harder dungeons, better class customization, I don't want to AoE spam 2 buttons 24/7. I want rewards that aren't just Materia and 1 Minion.

And yes they do game like MyCoke and Club Penguin. If they didn't, I wouldn't be absolutely spammed by club and house event invites every time I'm logged in. I never see anyone in open world, and the queues are long as shit. They're all in Limsa or AFKing in their house. More than half of PF are also club/FC spam.

When people say stuff like Eureka and Bozja were engaging, I think they just miss the old days of grinding for years for content because a low drop rate and long grind makes it feel like the content lasts forever. It doesn't, its just an illusion. Artificially lengthening the contents lifespan by making the rewards take forever to obtain is not interesting to me. I played Lineage 2 for almost 10 years. The grinds in that were painful if you didn't play on a private server. I had far more fun shortening the grind that way and actually playing the game.

My only problem with Bozja and Eureka is that the grind gets extremely boring very fast. I hate its slow leveling system for progression and while doing NM trains can be fun and the interaction can be entertaining, its gameplay loop is about the same level of quality as any other system in this game that outlives its welcome. I dont want another Bozja and Eureka; or at least I want it to be done in a different fashion where the activities arent as brain dead.

I was talking about Savage, it's definitely not mid-core. Alliance Raids day 1 I'd consider Mid-Core. After that it's pretty casual. I wish SE would incentivize Syncing content to Min iLvl more.
If any content requires me to set a specific time and day to be able to even finish said content with a specific group with lockouts and BiS, then it's not mid-core. It's not even about the difficulty, it's about the capability as a player wanting to run difficult content on my own time.

I do make friends that love that type of content, they just don't login anymore because that content is dead now and this expansion cycle has neglected to keep mid-core engaged past 2 days of a major patch.

We live in 2 different worlds of playstyle, and that's fine. This is an MMO that often caters to multiple. But these are my grievances, though I'm glad you're having your fun.

I think that's fine - I just don't have that this cycle you know? Like I feel that everyone else got their thing, but I'm just gonna get POTD 3.0 for the next year instead of actually getting an Exploratory Mode with some sick new ways to die.

POTD can be fun, but it's also claustrophobic and in no way feels like an MMO. I'll still do it.


On a separate note: I don't think many people actually know what Mid-Core content means.. It doesn't mean less difficult. It means less strict investment. I'd like to play a difficult game on my own time, at my own leisure. We don't want to have to be tied down to a static like it's a day job. But like the idea of hop-in, hop-out capability with good rewards. So yeah EX can be a good example sometimes, but it doesn't have the same reward appeal as Bozja.

You don't have to set a time and group to do savage, you can absolutely pug it in PF. And if you needed BiS to complete it, no one could because BiS is locked behind savage.



Alliance raids day 1 are still casual content. They are not anywhere close to mid core content.

Then we just have a different definition of Hardcore and Midcore. The fact that you even mention a Static takes you out of Midcore. If you ran old Savage without a BiS chase and did them PF then sure. But if you're talking about day-1 with a static, then that's not Midcore.

It's fine, we can agree to disagree. But when someone typically says they're Midcore, they don't mean they run with a Static with a schedule, and are doing day-1 Savage. No matter how easy or difficult you consider that to be.

The problem with your definitions is people in XIV have defined "casual, midcore, and hardcore" as skill levels, not time investment. I got corrected on that many a time.

That's okay, it's blurred and we're all dumb. What matters is that what we're asking for is content not INTENDED for Hardcore consumption, but can still be challenging*. If that makes more sense here.

And in that sense, we're lacking this expansion cycle.

Maybe they are really too busy with FFXVI. :C
I won't play FFXVI because of that.
We pay every month for FFXIV, and it's not okay to neglect us like this, in my personal opinion.
