In the case of the current patch, I wouldn't say less content. The changes to the old dungeons to add the Duty Support included completely reworking several dungeons, upgrading the textures, changing up bosses...in a way, we got a bit more this patch because of that. Stupid statement I know, but Prae, CM, and Totorak were changed up quite a bit, the bosses were reworked (Gaius has an enrage, AN ENRAGE!), and overall it feels like a new experience compared to how it was before.
This game is ultimately a business, and for better or worse, business decisions are made with the intention of raking in profits, no matter how adored developers might be. A daily sub is akin to suiciding profit. Content will always be exhausted and consumed far quicker than what it is developed, unfortunately. People would sub for the period which suits them, which would inevitably be up until they've consumed the content they like, and then once again to refresh their houses.
No it doesn't. Just because the game doesn't give the kind of content YOU want doesn't mean there's no content. You don't need to log in every single day, take breaks, go play something else, but at the end of the day other MMO's I play go a year or more with ZERO content. This game comes out with a major patch every 4 months. The problem is you, not the game.
This game does have a lot of content. And I mean A LOT. It won't cater to everyone's needs, and you don't have to play every single thing to feel enjoyment. Gods know I don't care for Lord of Verminion, for example. No matter how much Square wants to advertise it.
The issue is that it has a little too much content. No patch is ever devoid of content, and this one just happened to go back and rehaul a lot of older stuff. So despite all the memes and criticisms, the dev team is working. Though I do agree with Skiros in a sense that the dev team needs to figure out its priorities and stop trying to get quantity in their game and strive for a little more quality. Specifically in stuff fans have been asking for years but they never got to. Because a lot of stuff is being added to the game in an unfinished or "beta" state, and the more the game grows, the bigger the list will get. And thus the more they'll need to come back and rework older stuff, while again dishing out stuff that's incomplete.
I get that stuff is hard to implement, needs resources and currently they're understaffed. But at the same time, they need to be more mindful of what they have, what they can give and how. So while the delayed patch time is understandable, I just feel like it's going to make the problem worse. Not only worse, but also feeling the unfinished state of content longer and longer.
I actually wonder if they plan to tweak older content to atleast add or uniform the markers on boss fights. As an example I don't think they really started using that specific marker for "tank buster" attacks till Shadowbringers outside of raid content but they added it to the duties they reworked.
Between the changes to Prae and the other old dungeons, a brand new and very popular PVP mode, not to mention the changes to the rest of PVP in general, and the most mechanically heavy Ultimate in the games history. 6.1 is in fact one of the biggest patches in terms of new content to do in the games history.
Thats also not counting having a noticeably longer MSQ then normal for a .1 Patch, or the Tataru and Omega quests getting added later.
This is actually the biggest .1 Patch we have had in a longggggg time, like sense 2.1
