Good thing I don't like it otherwise I would have been disappointed to see it only on the Mogstation... Not that I would have purchased it if I had liked how it looked but at least now I don't have to try "too hard" not to buy it ^^;.

The sad thing is that, even though people claim that they would not complain if there was an alternative way to earn the items, history says otherwise.
People always have had this inner hate for people who swing their credit cards instead of their swords.
I used to work at Burda I.E (Which published many online games, such as Ragnarok Online EU) and despite the fact that everything in the shop was obtainable in-game, people still complained and hated on cash-shoppers and constantly made threads about how shoppers were not "real gamers" because they earned their items "unfairly", and people constantly discriminated against them and even refused to group with shoppers.
Yes, now that cash shops dominate and are full of exclusives and extras, people claim that if we were to go back to the original state of cash shops, that would be okay, but that´s only because it´s the lesser of two evils.
After a while, the anti cash shop elitism would be back.
You are right, thank you so much SE for taking more money to me when I already pay the game, the extention packs and a monthly sub to get acces to your game. Your are so kind to take me less money than the other company (most of their game being F2P / B2P with no more sub) to create content that could have been put in game as a reward for, i don't know, a moogle fight ?

I always thought the cash shop was a place for fun little items we can buy like this mount without having to do a 6 year grind. Why is this so hated when all that gets put in the cash shop is needless items you never need? Now 30 bucks is a bit high but other than that is it really that bad?
There is only 1 culprit for this situation in general, and that is US!!, the gamers, the ppl that buy.
If you go and play many other mmorpg and do the math of what you spend at the end of the month vs time spent playing game and do the same with that you have been spending so far to play FFXIV you might be surprised. I will not lie, when I first came to the game back in DEC/JAN, and saw how many products where actually in the mogstation I was very surprised seeing how few it had comparing again to a lot of other mmos.
Im not saying that I support the idea, but I understand why they are doing it, and to be honest quite surprised they havent done more in the past. What I hope is that there is a balance, that they continue to make players play the game for rewards and that this example is just something that they do occasionally. I dont mind if they do that.
As an example if you go and play SWTOR now, a game when at its beginning had some similarities to this one. It is marketed F2P, but really it isnt, if you want to fully experience the game you need a subscription like this one. And get this, the majority of content as in terms of what we call our glamour/mounts here, comes in packs that you have to buy with real money .. but get this you dont get to choose what you want, its rng based in a pack!!! (just an example)
I like the business model of this game and I hope it continues the same. If they put occasional glamour/mounts in the mogstation, I have no problem with that as long as the majority of all items have to be obtainable playing the game as it is presently.
Because the devs get the same ideas as you have thought of right here, it is no wonder why the cash shop is as popular as it is. Many people have not yet gathered all the existing grind-gated mounts so adding more to that to-do-list is not a pleasing thought. Not to mention that grinding at the mercy of a drop chance is one of the least enjoyable ways to sink time into the game. See all the complaints about primal ponies if you don't believe me. Finally the birds can be bought with currency.
About 34% bigger. $13 in 2002 is about $17.42 today. (-_-; )
Well, it is what it is. The world will keep on changing. 2000s not gonna come back as much as we reminisce of days past. Nor will 2016 when its 2032.
Enjoy the good with everything else!

Thank you for that definition, I too know how to use dictionary.com.
And I will repeat, just because WoW did it, doesn't mean FFXIV will, so get over yourself.
EDIT: I'm going to state why I have an issue with this. You don't have to buy it, the less sales happen, the less likely they'll do it. But don't bother those who choose to purchase it... that's just rude and childish.
