Consolidated White Mage 4.0 Feedback Thread

I don't undestand the Sylphie hate. The reason why Stillglade Fane was worried about Sylphie wasn't that she just wanted to heal people - in fact, I believe it was implied several times that her wanting to help people was a good thing - it was that she was doing it dangerously. The resolution was teaching her to draw from nature instead of just herself.

I don't think it's connected to the damage dealing debate at all, nor do I believe that is it meant to be some sort of out-of-character "warning" to players. It's a really nice way of explaining how Conjurer fundamentally works in terms of lore, nothing more.

This would either be useless or overpowered. Depending on its MP cost, Cooldown, and/or cast time. Also depends on how long it lasts and would it be a "place it and forget about the tank" ability?

Either would be useless for DPS, too strong, or equal to Stone spells. Also Cure can't be used on enemies so the coding would have to be changed, and what constitutes as a "demon"? Also what FF game has had demons being damaged by Cure?

These are the same thing. Or do you not know what reflect is? Considering Protect is both Physical and Magical (now) I assume "Reflect" would reflect both as well. Because just reflecting magic is trash.

Like, as in it reduces an enemies resistance to a random element or makes them more susceptible to damage from the flank or back? At random. I don't see how this would be that good tbh.

The problem is, as stated before: We could do those things for 2+ years now. We got nothing new in Stormblood, and instead outright lost stuff we had before either to the new job action system or thin air, and I don't refer to the skill, which is one the few good things that came around for WHM. Our new mechanics are boring, clunky, and just plain suck, and you don't even have to look to other classes and the fantastic stuff they got to see that (I'm looking at you, AST...). Besides, AST now has the best heals (WHMs apparent niche) AND the best utility, so what is even our place in the new system? We are great in dungeons? Well, big news, we were the best dungeon healers for half an eternity by now with all the shiny AoE DPS options we have. That was never WHMs problem. The problems went unadressed for the biggest part.
Besides, I would argue most fans of the class weren't in it for the DPS... because SCH has always been better in that regard due to better MP management options. Can't really speak for others, though, so I might be wrong on that part.

You hit the nail dead center. She's taken far out of context. Similar coincidences can be said for Edda's storyline as well. Sylphie remains one of my favorite NPCs, and I couldn't help but feel a motherly desire to take care of her. If she's back for 4.0, this makes me very happy and feels like a reunion.

I personally dislike her because she's an annoying little brat.

I am actually enjoying whm. The cool down reduction is nice.

I would beg to disagree. Sylphie says she doesn't want to do anything but healing. But that is what makes a healing class extremely boring to many players and something many WHM players don't want to see happen to their class. We want to be able to do a variety of things be it damage, buff, etc. In fact, this expansion seems to have the anti-Sylphie effect on many WHM players. Her ideals of being a heal only style are being forced on us by SE taking away any useful tools we can do other than heal and given a mechanic that only rewards you if you constantly heal using cures.

I don't even notice it... ran a dungeon yesterday, could have just as well not been there. Besides, I never have Lillies for the skills I want to use them on, because all instants except for Regen and Benediction use them up. And having to spam Cures to build Lillies is just plain dumb. It's stupidly designed, sorry.

Did most CNJs in this game just stop paying attention to the questline as soon as she says those words? Do they not see that her storyline has everything to do with CNJ lore, and NOTHING to do with the meta. Even if you want to go there, did you forget that she eventually gets past her own barriers and sees the benefit of casting offensive spells when protecting others?

And who is this "we" want to do a variety of things? What suddenly happened to all the lazy healers that refused to DPS and do anything but heal? Were they strawmen this entire time? Point being that this community is so diverse. A lot of players do enjoy bringing damage as a healer, others would prefer they have more restorative and support abilities and find that enjoyable. What do you do as a game designer to appease all audiences? Do you have that answer?
