Thank you for this.
Especially for making a post about it here on English side as well as the JP side we do genuinely feel like we're not able to have our voices heard.
Just this alone has given me a small spark of hope.
Community reps exist? They're not just myths and legends?
Well while I know they're here, I'll at least bring up the concerns I had with female highlander face 2 in previous threads that haven't been addressed since the original benchmark, namely these two posts.
And my own post:
The comparisons both used eye shape 3, but they're noticeably different.
The other issues I had with the benchmark back then have thankfully been addressed since, it's just the shape of the eyes being noticeably different and the mouth not feeling right. I've swapped to shape 4 for the eyes since then, but it really shouldn't have had come to that.
Very based
Remember this for when you're told to believe the NA forums are ignored and that our feedback will never be seen
Thank you so much!!! I never thought I would see one of these again!!!
Please, take what time you need to make sure things are touched up and adjusted with full care; I'm certain everyone will just be relieved to know they'll get to see their character again sooner than later...!
I know this is me expecting the best case scenario, but I want to believe...
I'm grateful that our words have been heard as I've been in a lot of despair since the character changes, thank you very much for the official update.
I will wait with bated breath for the end of August and cautiously hope that a satisfying resolution is on the way.
Dear Square Enix Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
First, I would like to express my gratitude for Dawntrail expansion looks fantastic, and I am currently working my way through it.
I am posting to propose an idea that I believe could further enhance the player experience in FFXIV: the introduction of a player-made NPC mechanic. This feature would allow players to create and customize their own NPCs, which could interact with other players in various ways, such as selling items or providing quests.
Key Features of Player-Made NPCs
Customizable Appearance and Dialogue:
Players could design their NPC’s appearance using a simplified version of the character creation system and write custom dialogue for more immersive interactions.
Placement and Pathing:
NPCs could be placed in player housing areas or designated public areas and be given paths to move around, adding a dynamic element to these spaces.
Merchant NPCs:
Players could set up NPCs to sell items from their inventory, with customizable prices and stock levels.
Quest-Giving NPCs:
Players could create custom quests for their NPCs to offer, including tasks such as gathering items, crafting specific objects, or defeating certain enemies, with rewards set by the player.
Additional Feature: Linked Questlines with Friends' NPCs
To further enrich the player experience, a feature allowing players to link questlines with their friends' NPCs could be implemented. This would enable players to create interconnected stories and collaborative quests, fostering a deeper sense of community and cooperation.
Benefits
Repopulation of Less-Frequented Areas:
This feature could help repopulate areas that are less frequently visited, making these spaces feel more alive and vibrant. While this might not be as effective in main cities, it could breathe new life into outlying regions and settlements.
Enhanced Player Engagement:
By encouraging creativity and personalization, players would have new ways to interact and trade, enhancing the social aspect of the game.
Economic Impact:
Player-run shops would add depth to the in-game economy, providing more opportunities for crafters and gatherers to sell their goods.
Greater Depth in Personalizing the World:
Allowing players to create and manage their own NPCs would enable them to leave a unique mark on the game world, increasing their sense of ownership and immersion.
In conclusion, I believe that introducing a player-made NPC mechanic, along with the ability to link questlines with friends' NPCs, could significantly enhance the depth and interactivity of FFXIV. It would also provide a means to revitalize less frequented areas, making the world feel more alive and personalized.
Thank you once again for your dedication and hard work. I am thoroughly enjoying the game and am excited for the Dawntrail expansion. Your commitment to delivering an outstanding gaming experience is greatly appreciated.
Best regards
Hey guys first time writing on this forum, so with the new graphic update I've ran into a couple odd things
1st y'shtola's hair has some strange white boxes around her hair
2nd When I Zoom out with my character my hair gets weird bald lines in it
If you want photo's for proof I'll show you later
Still new to this fourm and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this
I can't believe my eyes! Could it be that our words aren't being thrown in the bottomless pit, and someone actually listens to them?
You should have done it at least 2-3 weeks earlier.
P.S. Okay, if someone is listening, I have some more feedback to post later. I had to make a new character because I still can't log in to my main, and during the story replay, I noticed quite a lot of issues (with NPC and with the environment).
P.S.S. It would be great if you told us the deadline for accepting feedback (and maybe make a separate feedback thread for all race and gender combinations with heavy moderation). I think many players who aren't very happy with the changes to their characters would gladly repost their previous feedback posts or make new, more detailed ones.
I'm really glad to see an official response. I will try to get my screenshots in order and post them ASAP.
So happy to see an official response! I look forward to seeing what will be addressed.
I'd like to draw attention to the thread on Thancred's face if this isn't being looked at :) Thank you!
Hopefully, future updates will fix many of the issues with the male miqo'te face 1 such as the many mentioned in this thread or that other one.
Make sure to change Female Miqo eye 3 back to angular and less rounded, thanks. It just looks like the other eye options now.

Gonna ping my old portrait again which got messed by this change Face 3, eye 3 /disturbed "confused" emote.
Left old, right new.

Glad to see some official response to the issue after so long. Have been frequenting the Endwalker Benchmark even more recently purely because I can't stop missing how my WoL looked before he got hit with the forced plastic surgery.
Keeping expectations tempered due to how the entire situation has been handled as a whole though . I do really hope that a lot of the effort put forth in the feedback of so many users gets treated with respect and care and tries to address even the some of the less popular customization choices that ended up being mangled and shoddily updated because they do still matter for many.
Ultimately would be happy to see going back to the more broad range of features that hadn't been scrapped for the sake of pushing a more cutesy , round and smoothened out look across the board for no apparent reason and something literally nobody asked for. Changes that went against what the feel and stylistic choice of the previous look was. Changes which resulted in sacrificing features like sharper jaws , sharper and more vivid lively eyes , nose size variety which got affected by reducing or increasing them haphazardly with no clear showing of attention to what the original was like , unique lip definition that suffered from flattening or straight up removal , etc. - examples that were integral to many WoLs and just a sample size of many more issues that have been talked about in depth in this thread and many others. Features that were crucial to different clans and racial distinction being respected and taken into account.I would love to see the range of features from before being preserved.
In a perfect world , a character customization menu expansion would be ideal - bring back the old and leave the new for whoever likes it more now. I can't speak for the difficulty of the task but after this update I think it should definitely be a talking point and has been long overdue for the game as a whole.
Edit: And for the love of god , please address how jank the emote animation rigging has been since this update. I don't think I can handle another cutscene with the smirk emote looking like I ate a bee.

Thank you for communicating with us and thank you to the devs as well for continuing to review and react to feedback. Even if my own concerns end up not being a high enough priority, I hope others will have their concerns addressed.
To continue with feedback, I've noticed a weird blurriness around my character's jawline when using the new screen space ambient occlusion setting GTAO. When slowly panning the camera, this blurriness moves or "vibrates" until I stop the camera movement. It's very distracting. I don't know if there is a technical term for it or if it's meant to look like that. The same problem is not present in HBAO+.

https://i.postimg.cc/Kj3j1NS8/ffxiv-...141745-335.png
I also think there is a big difference in how the shadows frame the face with different settings. Has anyone else noticed it? HBAO+ makes stronger shadows around the cheeks, nose and lips, whereas GTAO forms shadows underneath hair and makes the face look more flat. I think I prefer the way HBAO+ makes my character look so I will keep that setting even though the environment looks better with GTAO. (You can open the pictures in a new tab and switch back and forth between them to compare how the shadows appear with each setting.)
As always, I'd like to request the lip shape, eye color and eyebrow color to be restored to the way they were.

left is the old screenshot I have, right is the new one
the shape may look slightly different but it gives a vastly different vibe personally
also somewhat poor quality but a gif for the VERY noticeable changes esp lips part
https://i.imgur.com/E8NQBx9.gif
here's another image, I've taken the screenshot I have and drawn over them
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GR-AWJHb...png&name=small
the old lips have a more pronounced shapes while the new one looks like how you give someone who've never drawn before a pencil and tell them to draw mouth/lips
the middle part, straight line, the shape is really bad and it's much sharper
I may sound dramatic but I feel like this is no longer my character
I can't stop looking at him and think "wow, his lips is weird, this is not how it's supposed to be"
as much of a vanilla enjoyer I am, when the graphic drastically changes one's character feel, it's .. just really weird and I'd want an option for the old stuff
(and here I attach image of what I meant giving someone who've never drawn a pencil then tell them to draw a lips)
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/FoQxIgBTCNE/maxresdefault.jpg
another thing on behalf of my friend, I noticed the part between lips and nose is a little TOO pronounced now, like, very noticeable
https://media.discordapp.net/attachm...ality=lossless
(edit, it's wildwood face 2 mouth option 2 but still there's a lot of mouth/lip shapes that gets completely wrecked, maybe instead of completely changing it make it a new option...)
(edit 2, added gif)
Oh! I missed that there was a master post, ill share my feedback here as well then.
As mentioned in my post (https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...01#post6531201) my au ra shows her teeth when smiling. My female Au Ra uses the 3rd face option, Type 3 Jaw, Type 1 Nose, and Type 3 Mouth. During both gameplay and cutscenes, the sides of her mouth open and show teeth during facial expressions where that shouldn't happen, like "Grin", "Smirk", "Shut Eyes", "Simper", or "Scoff."
Here is an example of this as of 7.0:
https://i.imgur.com/WSZkk01.png
Here is during Cutscene #2 in the Returning Home quest when talking with Alphinaud or Thancred, near the end when they are leaving.https://i.imgur.com/RGcsWVq.png
It is most noticeable from either a side profile or when looking up at the character. Looking at her head on or from above doesn't have this issue. I tried making a diagram, hoping it gets the message across as to what I mean.
https://i.imgur.com/ke5XJjN.png
it appears as a thin white line a few pixels thick from a distance but if you zoom in with the FOV slider in Gpose you can see the issue.
Reposting once again -
Male Duskwights are using Wildwood face textures which gives them dark circles they did not have before.
Additionally, Elezen males' upper lips/cupid bows are unnaturally pointed when they used to be smooth.

Congrats to those in this thread looking for changes. Fingers crossed you are pleased with the upcoming announcements.
I've posted feedback on the graphics update when the benchmarks came out, but I thought I'd try again it's been confirmed this thread is being looked through by devs.
Here is my Au Ra in 6.55 vs Dawntrail:
https://imgur.com/4ivC48K.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/jhGX1AR.png
Since the first DT benchmark came out, my main issues have been with the eyes and lips.
https://i.imgur.com/2bLIPyD.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/JjDzG3O.png
- The larger pupils, especially when some other races got to keep their smaller pupils, are an issue for me. Male Au Ra had their pupil size reduced after feedback, so I'm still hoping female Au Ra can have their smaller pupils restored as well.
- I'm using eye shape 3, which are the most upturned eyes, but I feel like they're more downturned and rounder now.
- The limbal rings are too small for the irises, making the irises appear smaller. The larger pupils on top of this makes the iris colour even less visible compared to before.
- The upper eyeliner is less dark now.
- Not related to eyes, but you can see the forehead scale has rounder edges in the update compared to the sharp edges in 6.55.
https://i.imgur.com/d1JDUDZ.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/txzOYTg.png
- The new lips are more downturned and have a very different feel compared to the old ones.
Please offer an option to keep Face 4 F Au Ra's sharp face. Previously mentioned by others with similar woes but the main issues are:
- Face 4 F Au Ra face has been rounded off significantly, losing a significant degree of sharpness. The sharp angular stare is no longer present, and thus the characterization and charm of the face has been lost. The face is overall fatter, and the chin sticks out. The jaw especially is uncanny- particularly during animations.
- The lips are completely different from Endwalker. It is not a upscale but a complete, undesired change.
- The eyes are completely different from Endwalker. Similarly, not an upscale but a complete, undesired change.
Personally, I'd like to be able to simply retain my original appearance and just have the face upscaled instead of this style shift. To be able to even just retain the original lip appearance, the shape and stare of the eyes, and remove all the unnatural fat the jaw and the cheeks have added would alone would be a significant improvement. There are just way too many unnecessary adjustments that were not requested and resultingly has caused a big style shift that I wish could be returned. It has been some time since Dawntrails release and even longer since the benchmarks and I have still not gotten used to the Au Ra appearance.
Very thankful to see a representative response. I had intended to go through my previous comments and expand upon them with new observations and thoughts and knowing now that our feedback is being heard I feel emboldened to do so and also hopeful. Looking forward to late August. May it be a step in the right direction.
Hiiii ty for the team working on DT as a whole and addressing any issues. Had a very good time playing through the MSQ and everything after, and the graphics update has ruined my screenshot folder
I think my one small thing I have is that Hellsguard Roegadeyns have had their noses look like a smudge of ash on the tip rather than a near opaque, black mark. Hopefully this sends correctly never have sent screenshots or links through the fourms
But yeah it just seems like some ash or soot on their nose compared to a solid black mark. For Fem Roes who I love to see and we need more of, I sometimes need to double back to see if it was actually a Female Roe since their marking was relatively smaller. I wish I had a good example on hand but if anyone else does that would be great to see a comparison!
I know not everything can be 1-1 with what the game once looked like, and this is a difference I don't HATE. But I do prefer the older look since it was more distinct.
1st image is current game, second image was 6.55/prior

Hrothgar eyes have been very closed in my adventurer plates and instant portraits. The pupils are also bigger for some reason. Can the former please be fixed and the latter looked at?
I just wanted to add OLDER ps5 (mine is a 2021 model) cant play in 4k without a hard crash. I reported as bug and talk with support. Before graphics up date 4k and all setting maxed now I have to play if I want to in 4k with 30fps limit looks bad. My current setting are WQHD (4K Upscaling) no fps limit no crash and looks better but... <<not happy after seeing game in 4k but hard crash>
Xbox got a fix and feedback please look into ps5 issue.
As a PS player I only had the opportunity to check on the changes after 7.0 was launched. Despite most of the changes being amazing, I am still upset with how much my WoL’s lips have changed. This was one of the features I liked a lot about her.
I think I have only realised it because I draw her a lot and had spent hours practicing drawing her features.
I am not a very good person to describe well the changes with words but to me it looked like her lips were from a kind of heart shaped pouty ones to a more straight one dimensional one. Then there’s the curve of the lips where they part, the 6.x was kind of like a Cupid’s bow type where the 7.0 update it’s a straight line. Also the lower lip lost the curves they had in 6.x
Here are some images, to better express the difference I noticed. (I apologise if they get too big for the reply on the forum)
Vhyev is a veena Viera face 2 mouth 4.

Thank you very much for the words. Now I have hope again that maybe everything will be fine after all.
I can agree with you 100%. As shown in my Post, the DT face is completely ruining the soul of my WoL.
So my appeal to the developers:
Please try to find a way to make the pre-DT faces available. Even if this would take some time, it wouldn't be a problem if I knew that in the end I could see my WoL again as I have loved her for 4 years.
This will decide whether I play ffxiv for another few years or whether I slowly retire from the game. It's in your hands.
The interval between the eyes and the skin is very wide and deep. The shadows around her eyes have been greatly reduced, and now it feels like her eyes blend into her face with a lot of lighting, without contrast. If there is a possibility that more shadows will be added, as in benchmark 1.0, her nose is also very pinched in the last update as well as her lips being plumped up a bit much. Her face looks completely different from the original.
