Tales of Adventure/One Hero's Journey for limited jobs=You beat the job until the next update.
The content release "formula" this has game relied on for years now with practically zero deviation has...shockingly, grown stale.
Not sure if hot-take but given the massive volume of people who defend XIV against all criticism, I felt it had to be said.
The thing is this schedule is necessary to keep the updates flowing regularly and having equal amounts of each type of content. It’s very true that the formula is becoming more and more stale tho. Maybe an overhaul could be made but that would inevitably bring some type of delay in the patch cycle and some time for the devs to adjust to it, since rhey are used to do things this way
Don't know if this is a hot take but... This patch's Hildibrand was some directionless unfunny mess. And I usually tolerate the questline, but here it felt really boring. (Only notable part was Godbert's antics during the relic questline.) The main Hildibrand quest already gives the impression they are out of ideas and we're only in the second batch out of five.
Not really a hot take, the opinions on Hildibrand have been split for a very long time.
If you were to ask just me I think it should've ended in ARR, I find the kind of humor that Hildibrand offers to be unfunny nonsense and my favorite Hildibrand story was it's Scholasticate spinoff in Ishgard.
But some people seem to really like it, so I simply deal with it and skip the cutscenes.
HoD season finale was meh.
Endwalker has at least as many retcons as Dragon Ball Super.
Hot take for me is that I still found it far better than the MSQ we've had the last few patches. At least it was a bit of fun, even if not up to the usual standard.
I love rpg story but MSQ is just a chore for me lately. I couldn't care less about most of the characters anymore.
I agree, when Newfound Adventure was announced, I was hoping for some more traditional adventuring, something more contained to the world or even just Eorzea. I'm tired of the intensity and all of this world hopping stuff. I feel like after Endwalker ended was the time for a breath of fresh air but it feels like we never got that.
I'm still hoping that's what 7.0 will be or start as.
They keep hyping whatever gonna happen in 6.5, but i hope it is just something that makes us want to go on an adventure, not fighting for the fate of the world or something.
I want to start small, discovering a new country and to set up the next story arc. So i hope it won't feel we'll go from 0 to 100 during the expansion.
Fandaniel was a great character who deserved more screen time.
I'd have to agree. In fact, I reading your comments I was reminded ofEmet-Selch's final words to us in Ultima Thule:
"Tell me, have you been to the ruins beneath the waters of the Bounty?
Or the treasure islands beyond the frozen waters of Blindfrost, in Othard's north?
The fabled golden cities of the New World? The sacred sites of the forgotten people of the south sea isles?
What about Meracydia, the southern continent? Do you know aught of its present state of affairs?
I thought not. Even of your little Eorzea, you know precious little. The true identities of the Twelve, for instance.
All of which is to say: Expand your horizons. Go forth and seek discovery. Some of the civilizations in the reflections will surprise you.
As the bearer of Azem's crystal, you may consider your duty to see at least that much."
I really hope they DO have us 'go forth and seek discovery' as he suggested.
The Scions were disbanded for 11 minutes.
I'm still disappointed by this, and you just know by the end we'll get the rest of them involved.
Personally I want the scions to be retired, basically all of them. I want an entirely new cast to start from the ground up with in 7.0. No you don't have to kill them off or something, just don't focus the stories on them anymore.
Shadowbringers Post-story MSQ quests (5.1 - 5.55) were the worst of any post-expansion story, by a large margin.
It still is being kept up. 24 man raids are just looking like the WoL calling the Students of Baldesion with a study of ancient ruins. Normal raids are just us. MSQ atm barely anybody knows we're doing anything, as the events with the Void is a closely guarded secret at this point.
It's okay to criticize the game.
I enjoyed criterion.
I enjoy sharing TB with healers and DPS. :)
So I read this as "I enjoyed criticism" xD
I blame Absimiliard's post on top of the page!!
Anyway @w@ Is Criterion that hard? Because it's got a currency system, so I assume it's meant to be farmed. If it were super hard, it wouldn't have something like that, would it?
A difference of opinion on the internet is OK, and it's not the end of the world.
Criterion's difficulty is a bit overrated. Mechanics are more complex than most extremes, and the final boss throws you some overwhelming stuff if you're doing it blind, but the fact that bosses have half the runtime of an average fight, half the players to mess it up and a very easy enrage makes it manageable. It's not the midcore content this game needs, but it's a good introduction to savage-level mechanics for players who only ever done extreme content.
Criterion savage seems to be hell though.
The next expansion needs to be about Tataru's eye getting scratched by Fat Cat, then she wears an eyepatch and forms Eorzea's Avengers Initiative! I haven't got it all worked out yet, but so far I have...
Aymeric: Captain Aymerica
Cid: Ironworks Man (with magitek power suit that has Nero as its AI interface voice)
Estinien: Hawtguy
Alisaie: Scarlet B*tch
Alphinaud would sort of be a Tom Holland Spiderman type, but with an "Iron Spider" style suit where his Sage nouliths are the four pointy bits and they shoot healing webs, maybe? Raubahn would totally be Hulk. Thancred and Y'shtola would be the "Black Widow" and "Dr. Strange" of the group, respectively. Uh, I just realized I forgot all about Thor. I was gonna say Gaia somehow, if only because she has a hammer. But you know what, no -- Hildibrand will be Thor, thus making Godbert into Odin. That seems cool.
I don't know who Ant Man would be, but the shrinking tech needs to have a side quest where you harvest Gastric Orbs from Cerberus's room in World of Darkness.
Isn't crafting kinda pointless? Shouldn't crafted gear be always better than anything you can buy?
Gor my crafters to lvl 80 and I crafted them gear which I was happy with. Then went to scrip store and my crafted gear being inferior. Let's just say I was disappointed.
Also why crafted lvl 80 gear is iL 415 or something but the same lvl gear bought 500?
Items (minions, mounts, outfits, emotes) purchased from the cash shop should come 'wrapped' so that they can be sold on the market board. Once used, they are unwrapped/bound to the character as normal.
In essence, this would give people a legal way to buy gil from SE while providing an option for people to buy cash-shop items via in-game methods.
I'm sure there would be quite the adjustment period for the markets, but honestly, after a certain point gil has very little purpose in this game. May as well shuffle some of the wealth around.
Some aspect of the rmt community is truly piss and crass and tasteless, when they are found out, using special discord to just gather, gaslight, organize fake reputation campaigns, pile on individuals for years on end for just "Daring" talk about what they truly do, mafia type mentality, they will try to make you pay dearly because you made other players notice their disgusting trollish behaviour in PF, then trying to excuse their behaviours in front of other people that find them very very weird and completely unhinged, getting screenshots out of me explaining their troll methods in past parties i had with them, but stating that i'm just making it up, when it is a situation that is brewing and exponentially becoming more ridiculous as they escalate it like childrens for the past 2 years now.
All of this beginning because i made the serious mistake to accept a discord invitation during Shadowbringers from Meralda Gwan dedicated savage and extreme clear server, for birds / gwibber farm / mounts, but then, after a while, i started to get why it was forbidden to loot certain mounts or weapons on certain bosses and get compensated with 500K to 1Mil gils "instead" of looting, it started to happen more and more often, actually, after a while u start to get what it is about, even if they don't tell you and try to say it was for a "friend", but in reality, i figured out it was piloted clears and runs for customers, slowly realizing what i put my foots into when this weird "not allowed to loot" thing repeated much more then a few times, because only one person in the group would change / roll / that is completely stranger and unfamiliar with the usual roster. And they won't tell you, because if they don't have to tell you it's going on, of course, the better you are not familiar with what they truely gain from it. Or else you would probably start to see it is complete exploitation over your naiveté / stupidity.
Since that day i dared speak out about it, their disgusting behaviour in pf became more and more ridiculous, they don't spend 1 week without bullying / stalking the pf to see where i can be, but also as a bonus, they usually troll the pf as a community to push for sales.
These same shitty individuals would want to put up a "honourable" nice pr face when what they truely are is very dark in their inside circles. Engaging in months to years on end stalking / harassing / make him "pay" on particular individuals, not realizing they actually act like pure self caricature of comic book villains on single individuals here and there, that are easy to isolate and pile on, without a single drop of objectivity and reflection on their own behaviour and what they actually do to others, and i am not alone in this.
I think the Lawless set is really uninspired and made of pieces we already had proxies for. (✿´ ꒳ ` )
Retainers selling items and such should have a higher limit than just 20. By now, ay least 40 would be nice.
I liked Thancred more as a rogue. I don't dislike GNB but on Thancred, it feels too tacked on for the sake of selling the job.

I also liked his HW-SB outfit more then his current one and don't really care for his new role as the group's dad. I miss the chivalrous, silver-tonged flirt who would every once-in-awhile get his comeuppance.
I liked Y'shtola's HW-SB outfit more too.
Somebody had to be a tank for Trusts, and Thancred got shoehorned into it. And they might as well have him advertise the brand-new job at the same time. Although to be fair, warrior would've been even more out of character for him, and paladin and dark knight have too much magic for a guy who can't use magic. At least with gunbreaker they could handwave it by having someone else enchant his shells.
The hilarious part to me is that, with seemingly no other gunblade users on the entire First, he'd stand out even more, which should make sneaking around even harder. I guess he's just that damn good.
