Yes this is absolutely true! The point is PS4 users rely on PC player for it!
Parser is mandatory now^^;

Sigh.. how about 4K in-game resolution with 4k TV in 3D? On a PC, yes, a PC. Oh yes and a sofa and your arse on it, with a ps4/xbone/wii/steam/razer or whatever gamepad in your hand and a milkshake in your mouth if thats what you prefer. Console gamers will always feel envious and for very real reasons. Also having some sort of forced parser/meter displayed onscreen might be too much for the general console gamer/new MMO player. The confusion caused by such UI might send loads of noobs away. Or destroy the whole planet.
Oh wait, since Sony decided to stop the homebrew development (by removing the developer license) of their PS Vita console, which was the only development it ever received, there is nothing left for it to do but rot away in silence. Perhaps SE could make an official app for it named FFXIV Parser. I bet its possible with the linking PS4 and Vita has. If only they never removed the free developer license, who knows what this machine would be these days. A PS4 parser app in there for sure made by the consumers for the demand of the consumers. But sony said no to the free unlimited development of their machine.
Huh? I had this game on ps4 for 1 year and half and now I'm on pc and ps4. I bought a new sofa 1 week after I built a good pc that also has 55 inch curved 4k tv. What am I going to be jealous over excactly? XD. You do realize there are many people who plays their games on their tvs, I mean from pc's. I certainly do, ofc majority do play the games on small screen and a small chair but I don't feel like doing that hehe. I did own a sofa for my gaming room before I built the pc, but needed a new one haha.
24 screen on my table where my keyboard is at, so I can browse while have the game(s) on the mainscreen :). Keep in mind, many people who are on ps4 want's a parser.
Regardless how good is your PC and sofa, you still need a Parser, right? ^^;
I'm not sure what you getting out but from my own understanding, you say it's not needed because it's ''gimmick'' to you? Or you had people tell you that you are lazy, doing low dps etc and feel offended. Maybe you thought you were good for a long time and someone told you and you felt extremely offended? Or simply because you feel the tool will make people more offensive? I don't know, you just say something and to me you feel offended by it.
I want a parser because it gives me the data I want and look for, which is data I seek to improve myself. Do I need it? Nope, but do I want to improve myself as a player? Yes. So I guess I need it, because I like to improve myself as a player and not let people down. If I'm the problem in the group, I rather leave it so they can get someone else, that's why I want to improve. Many seem to ignore there is a teamplay not solo.
However, you have to be more specific about your point.
No you don't. I play on a 55 inch with my pc, why not move your pc close to the tv then? How is even that part of the topic anwyays. Okay I get you now, you want a parser for your ps4. That is something SE has to handle yes, not sony.
Edit. Okay! Now I get your point, thanks for clerifying it! Yes I do agree with you:). No worries ^^
Sony removed the software developer license from their website which allowed people to develop the PS Vita forward with homebrewn/3rd party software. It was a downloadable patch/file that you put on your Vita for developer access, it is no more downloadable nor usable even if you had the patch/files. Back then you could for example stream PC games to your Vita just like from the PS4 but with better success/framerate/quality. Sony wants us to buy PS4 if we buy PS Vita so that's how simple it really is, they blocked us from doing what we did with their console. SE needs to get (buy) permission from Sony to develop an official app like a parser and also work together with Sony to make it happen. But we have all seen that companies are not capable of what individuals are, especially when given free hands.
PS Vita is a machine that can do an incredible amount of things due to its hardware, but Sony and its business model (software licensing etc) is in the way of development. Greed.
Turning the Vita into PS4's multitasking synced buddy is the only way to go and they are failing it miserably.
@Nicobo: Parsers are allowed in every possible way, except for the Feast PvP network parsing/tracking debuffs/buffs etc. That can get you removed from the season, or so they say, but you cannot be caught. Atleast not proven. Oh the glory of the "grey area".
You can play FFXIV on your Vita. That is how much it has to do with FFXIV. Also PS4 and PS Vita are paired and synchronised consoles with remote play support and what not and they have the same operating system. Buying a PS Vita is intended to encourage ppl to buy a PS4 and vise-versa.
The only possible combination of a smartphone parser and a ps4 is with sonys own phones. Sony will never support another companys devices.
Simply at least please add a DPS meter! ^^;
Unrelated, but the remote play app was ported to all android phones some time ago. I use it on my tablet to monitor while I fish (vibration enabled) and Netflix.
I feel if they did do it, they should try to keep it's requirements within the ps4. If we couldn't have it directly in the userinterface, like in miniACT plug ins, I wouldn't mind an external app (outside of ffxiv) that would run in the background, similar to a full ACT, that you would have to switch to, to access.
At first I was satisfied with a personal parser, but now I would really like a group parser.
My dungeon runs of yesterday made me want to have it even more.
Me and 2 friends did 60 roulette and got a new player.
It was her first time in the dungeon, so we pulled slowly and after the first few trash mobs I asked her if she would like advice on the dungeon, and if she would like advice on dragoon game-play (I'm not an expert in DPS so I was not going to explain her a whole rotation, but basic stuff that every dragoon should do)
Since she didn't answer, I told her to at least keep Heavy Thrust up, because it ups your damage. And to use the Pugilist and Maurauder Cross-Class skills instead of gatherers ones.
Her reaction was: Do you have an issue with me? Just heal and let's continue.
I explained her that I don't have an issue, but wanted to help her play better. To which she says that I shouldn't be so serious and that it's just a game. Ok this is true, but you don't play alone, you play with other people, so show respect. I also told her than that I didn't want to carry her if she didn't try at least.
We continue, she's still not using buffs (She only you the Full Thrust Combo), she asks for tips of the dungeon. I told her to use Heavy Thrust before we talk dungeon, since she's already dead weight. Her reply is that I don't know anything about dragoon and how it plays (I have it level 60, and it was my previous main before I went Scholar) and she will not take advice from a Mentor (I'm a mentor, so I know my reaction was maybe harsh and a mentor should not be harsh, but she really got on my nerfs) and that she would only believe she performed poorly if she saw it.
We kicked her from the group cuz she refused to even try. In this situation, a parser would have shown her that by using Heavy Thrust and buffs (and if possible DoT and Chaos Thrust Combo) her damage would go up.
Hmmmm, oh, solved !! read your chat. It gives you all the numbers you need. Duh.
Now, parsers will hurt the community. I'll explain, by using a parser, you single out the weak players. By doing this, you stifle them from being able to learn and advance and get good. EXAMPLE ONLY: Now, some wont let me do Alex because there using a parser or some crap, anyway, they wont let me in. So, now I can't learn. I guess I can go watch a video sure but, if I dont reach, X amount of DPS, i'll be kicked.
I, as many do, learn from first hand experience. We already have ilvl's to gate us, do we need the community policing who gets to do what because a parser told them so?
No.
Yes, yes, all of my YES. I really want SE to add an in-game parser already so I can optimize how I play during encounters, learn from the results with data to back it up, and improve as a player. Not only on an individual level, a whole group can reap the benefits of a parser where players can help each other out and become better at the game. While there may be some players who abuse parsers as an object to inflate their egos and harass those they don't find to be playing to an extreme ideal, such incidents can be dealt with by reporting such offenders and potentially sending them to the GM's gaol. A parser is merely a tool, and in the right hands it can help a lot of players improve and assist one another.
Parser wont help with this at all. if the moron cannot see that the skill states it adds dmg for x amount of time or just flat out cant read the tool tips, then they should, honestly, not be playing any mmo. Not WoW, GW2, ESO, nothing.
this has nothing to do with proving dmg numbers and such, this is about a person who refuses to learn a rotation and simply READ your tool tips/action help/item help box. Like everybody does.
An ingame-parser would be really nice :)
I don't know, why people are afraid of it..
Sorry to hurt your feeling. But before starting a raid you have to make your homework. Learning how to play your class, especially as a DPS, is something that has do be done before you want to do content where damage matters that much. Within the content you have enough to do by learning mechanics and how to adapt you rotation along the machanics. This is not the place to learn how to deal damage at all. Nobody can say that you will ever reach the goal. with that opinion you would do only one thing: waste the time of the 7 others, that are not able to make real progress because of you.
Parsers don't just reveal the weaker links in a group. They show why. This alone does not "stifle them from being able to learn and advance and get good." It simply shows them why they're not doing that well in detail. After all, mistakes and results prove to be valuable teachers to help us advance. We learn from them, we take the information they have shown us and we progress. An in-game parser will help strengthen the community and proper use of it will encourage others to ask how they can get better. The only ones who will not use a parser properly are those who are afraid of being called out on being bad and show no willingness to improve, or elitists who hold unrealistic expectations who would not hesitate to dismiss someone from not putting out numbers similar to some of the best players in the world.
A parser should never be used as a gate, but a reference tool to help us improve. The fact that you express concerns about the community blindly following what a parser says tells us that you don't have a proper understanding on how a parser can be used in a beneficial manner.
It's more about harassment than it is waving around the e-peen, which I should've been more clear on stating. Unfortunately, there are people who abuse parsers based on unrealistic expectations they may hold, or outright abuse it as a means to grief others. This mindset must not be tolerated and should be expunged with extreme prejudice. The GMs, to their credit, do take harassment reports seriously and will investigate the matter. I am confident that suspensions would be meted out if a sanctioned in-game parser was abused for purposes it was not intended for.
Please do not encourage fear-mongering against parsers. Encourage informative playing, which is what a parser would help realize.
Ah this thread is alive again. Look at how many people fail dps check on niddhogg normal mode. They wont get clear unless being carried, if not. Good, should teach them a lesson to get better ;)
Okay, easy as hell. Pop Heavey Thrust and hit a dummy and look at the numbers. Cant see them? Use chat like the rest of us do.
Because somebody is trolling your group by being vindictive ON PURPOSE, does not mean you need a parser to tell them that Heavy thrust gives a Damage boost.
If that was the case, a parser would be in game.
Let me ask you this, why do you have to optimize your rotation?
Let me explain what I mean. I have all my skills on my hotbar. I never have to change them around at all for anything.
For a dungeon, i use the skills best suited for said dungeon. I know of NOBODY who re does their hot bar or even has to prep for a regular dungeon. Or hard mode for that. Since beta, i have hardly had any issues with any group and about 80% were duty finder.
I guess i should have said EXAMPLE when bringing up what you quoted by me. here, i'll actually change it so it does not confuse other.
Alex normal doesnt count. Seriously tho, it's fine to be againt's parsers, since that's your opinion, but making up shit isn't gonna make you look any better. Just by reading what you said, I didn't even need to click on that link to confirm you beat savage or not. I hope that tells you something.
Not even beating seph extreme or thordan also says something about you.
Sorry to hurt your feelings but this makes me think why you are againt's parsers, because you haven't beaten savage/thordan/seph extreme, that means you aren't doing enough and people leaving you out and you are afraid that it will happen more often if a official parser happens. Guess who's fault that is. It's your fault for not even trying or just sitting back there and lie about it. I've lost my respect to few anti parsers in this thread and almost losing it towards you. There are only a few in here I still respect not making up things to make reality look worse than it is, because it's far from truth some people in here say. I often thought, from my understanding that pro parsers (like myself I guess) are assholes. But making me look worse for a crowd simply because I support parser isn't making you any less of an asshole. You see, I actually use the tool to help people and let them improve if they ask me. While you on otherhand trying to make look like some bad person then making up things. I don't know whats more toxic than that :).
Edit:
Actually the fact you said you beat alex and then we find out it's not true.
Should we take it one more step?
That's the whole point. I play on PS4 and I can't see any DPS numbers. Now, if I want to improve my rotation why the hell do I have to ask a PC player to come stare at me and feed me numbers while I hit a training dummy? Can I find one who will do it for me? Yes but I feel like a colossal asshole for wasting their time doing something that I should be able to do for myself. Before it even gets stated, yes I know that I could break out my calculator and determine my own DPS but I also have limited playtime due to having a wife, child, and job so spending my evenings number crunching a log sounds boring as hell. Especially when it's very very feasible to have the game do it for me.
