"You pull, you tank" is a bad mentality

Whoa. This reached 30 pages. I’ll just say what I always say in these type of threads.

When I’m healing, if I see a DPS pulling ahead of the tank I just let them die. I’ve done that numerous times. Most of the time they just release because they know I’m not going to raise them.

Of course, sometimes the DPS is good enough to survive on their own until the tank gathers all the mobs up. In which case their own skill saves them. Certainly not me.

And for everyone that says that’s reportable I could just as easily report the DPS for Aiding the Enemy for overburdening me or the tank, because they pulled the extra mobs without the tank’s consent after he/she clearly indicated they weren’t comfortable with large pulls by the example of the pace they were going. Hell, with how vague the TOS is and how zealous SE is about bullying and harassment, as the healer I could easily say I felt put upon and forced to play in a way I was not comfortable with. Guess whose side they’d take?

To be clear I would never do anything like that. But I just wanted to highlight how stupid the TOS argument is.

It’s very selfish and rude to just pull ahead of the tank because you think they aren’t going fast enough. Just ask them to pull more. Is verbal or text communication that difficult for some of you? It takes like 2 seconds. “Hey, you mind pulling a bit more? We can handle it. :)” And if they aren’t, then you are free to leave and/or roll a tank and YOLO pull till your heart’s content.

There is no class in this game called "puller".

Work as a team, support each other, whether dps, tank, healer pulls. Work towards clearing the dungeon.
Any non-effort like intentionally not healing or letting people die means you're not working as a team. Simple as. Don't give up trying because your ego feels hurt.

It's the Tank.

You know what I do when I'm healing or DPS? I let the Tank dictate the flow.

None of y'all know the Tank's experience level, their cooldown timers, or their situation behind the screen unless you're a premade. Yet you have the audacity to try and dictate how they do their job? Please.

If you want to so badly be the lead then play Tank. We could always use more. Though something tells me that a lot of you complaining about this are not up to par when it comes to that role and would grow easily frustrated if bad DPS decided to pull everything ahead of you then blame you for not compensating for their toxicity.

The game could really benefit by a lot of you DPS learning the tanking Role and doing just that. Maybe you'll gain some empathy and humility too from the experience.

Some of the recent replies to this thread have me feeling very thankful for the existence of trusts. At least I don't have to coddle Thancred and he doesn't get offended if I push him to wall to wall in post 70 content.

as the rest, I'm too lazy to reply but ya honestly you just shouldn't care lmao imagine being so tilted at a DPS for pulling that you report them I can't. like I said before in an earlier post I've tanked a lot, never really encountered DPS who was like "you HAVE to do this!" but I guess I'll cross the bridge one day lol. most times if you die to a mob or two most people just go the boring way bcus they'd rather get it over with but idk

also tbh sometimes I hope the DPS pulls if I don't remember where to go in a dungeon lmao

Thancred cannot even wall2wall.

If anything, you're being coddled by the Trust. Furthermore, even a slow tank will clear content faster than the fastest Trust clears.

I have yet experience a wipe while doing trust runs by pushing Thancred to pull both packs at a time. "Coddled by the trust" what does that even mean? I'm being coddled by a tank that rotates their cooldowns appropriately and doesn't give me attitude? Really? I'll gladly take him over a player who refuses to perform on the level of NPC AI. I straight up refuse to carry people into content they clearly are not prepared for.

I *refuse* to be the reason why someone ends up with a level 90 tank that is somehow still single-pulling in the Stigma Dreamscape.

Single-pulling in any dungeon over 50 shows me the player doesn't know what they are doing. In which case, I would highly recommend they take advantage of the new trust dungeons coming over the 6.X series to improve their tanking skills to match the levels of the AI at the absolute minimum. You do not need a tank for single pulls. Dps with bloodbath and a healer can easily get by without one in that case.

And your Trust clears will always be slower than any player clear even if the Tank is a little slower than what you demand of them.

So yes, you're being coddled yet are trying to act like you aren't. At least be honest.

And "give you attitude"? If you're getting attitude then YOU'RE the problem. I've been in thousands of runs and done every role and played every job to 80 but Blue Mage. Not once have I been "Given attitude" as you so put it.

Based off your insults I can see why your que times are quite long even as a Paladin.

No one wants a Tank who lets others walk all over them. Makes them too unreliable and not one that can be trusted to do the role decently.

LMAO imagine being like this when the real answer is, "who cares, adjust, retake aggro, move on with your life because sweating isn't worth it"
