I do miss having to keep track of the ennemies, mostly during dungeons and add phases, that's what made it interresting to go through as a tank.
While I do think the ennmity combos needed a rework so they were more interresting, removing them entirely is kind of a shame, especially for Dark Knight who only has a single 1 2 3 combo now.

It's a bit like those mechanics which deliberately try to force you off the boss and mess up your dps output.
Devs: Here, take a Flare marker, go into the corner for 5 seconds and stare into space, because we hate tanks.
Correct Response: Okay, ranged dps, here is a Flare marker for you to bait, you take it into the corner for 5 seconds, I need to stay on the boss.
Devs: Okay, now the Flare marker is only survivable by a tank.
Correct Response: Okay, other tank, here is a Flare marker for you to bait, you take it into the corner for 5 seconds. After all, you love the RP element of being protector of your team by using tank stance permanently. I need to stay on the boss.
Devs: Here, the Flare marker is now random, now you have no choice but to go into the corner.
Correct Response: Okay, time to put up some shields! We're going to have to eat this as a team because I need to stay on the boss.
Bottom line, punishing people for doing their job doesn't result in clever choices or trade-offs. We just avoid doing the thing that impedes our dps. This happens every tier. -

It had been said time and time again, managing enmity was not really fun, especially when your enmity combos actively messed up your rotation flow and alot of the enmity management was on the DPS/Healers. It was never really fun, just frustrating that the BLM decided it was allergic to Diversion and Lucid Dreaming, or even a Bard with their insane burst at the start of a fight. Then you had Monk who had burst every 90 seconds, and Diversion was on a 60 second cooldown. They could effectively creep up on tanks who weren't paying attention just because nothing really lined up. It was just a failing system that people thought was fun, just because it was different and gave you something else to manage.
However, also in this thread are suggestions to help make tanking more fun, give tanks something else to think about, whether it's utilising stuns and interrupts more, actually having to think about boss positioning etc. Having this extra layer for a tank to think about should be more than enough to keep anyone engaged and personally, I do believe this should be the way forward for tanks. -
