Any room for samurai ninja and smn in your plans? ^^; i like the idea looks good
They could add a Weapon class that deals specifically with Oriental Swords and call it Iaidō (居合道?).
They would use Katanas and Great Katanas and they would would teach Ninja, Monk, Samurai, and Dragoon skills.
Then once you had enough of the skills learned from using Iaidō you can become more proficent with those as jobs. But play with those jobs on any weapon afterwards.
For Ninja, I think one of the things they could do for it, is the skills it has that are basically its version of another already known Elemental Spell (Katon = Fire etc.) Make it so when Ninja is your Job and those spells are equipped they transform. So equipping Fire while on Ninja would turn it into Katon. etc.
Those recent replies made me think that there will also be a need for new base weapon classes to ensure that there is sufficient new "class content" for the players that have leveled several classes already (vs only adding jobs).
So what could these be?
I could see katanas, rapiers, guns, scythes, maces/hammers, whips/flails, would need something for casters too, or a tool that let you take control on a puppet or beasts
I'd rather just have real jobs thank you very much.
You know we already have multiple weapons for certain classes, you don't need to add a base class to add a weapon.
Conjurer and Thaumaturge both have 1-handed staves/wands and 2-handed Canes/Scepters.
Gladiator has Swords as well as Daggers, which I believe really don't belong there but whatever. While they are similar in function they are decidedly 2 different weapon types.
I always considered Conjurer and Thaumaturges weapons to be the AOE they use.
The Equipped Weapons just being a Focus for those energies. (Which is how most Magic Lore Works. The user has power but needs a wand/staff/etc to focus it. Ala Gandalf, Harry Potter, Mickey Mouse)
As for Daggers, they will probably move them to their own class once they can.
The fact still stands though that they have 2 different weapon types each. Conj = Wand/Cane, Thaum = Staff/Scepter, hell if you look at the guns in the game we have Pistols and Rifles for Musketeer. Going with that train of thought you could add 2-handed swords to Gladiator easily. Even further than that you could just add more weapon types to a given class considering some already have more than one.
