I would assume so, would seem odd to remove them...then again it is also weird to make a new island just for it too. Granted I never really explored or noticed them before today either.

Yeah. Was pretty awkward/sleazy. Just not my style of humour at all.
I'm pretty sure the event items are recolours because SE knew the Shisui stuff would be popular and want to be able to sell it on the cash shop starting next year. Perhaps they'll prove me wrong and we'll see a craftable version as leveling sets in the next expansion but my instinct says this was a choice motivated by greed.
Doesn't affect me since I dislike the sets anyways.
Yup that! Sorry I didn't saw the other thread before posting this.
Pretty sure this is the answer.
I guess this is probably the main reason we get what we have for this event. That and maybe cutting corners to save development time due to SB release. /sigh
The whole SB expandsion is a cut corners, the full thing is just copy/paste content we got in HW..
4 runs where each has a weekly drop? check
gimmicky mechanics we seen before while putting them in a different order? check
450 tome copy/paste? check
mass reused gear/color reskin/item icons? check
But hey.. tome icons are different, guess all the effort of development went there.
They are still missing some place that has 3 different runs in it (released at different patches) on weekly limit of some gear that is the same ilevel as the 450 tomes, along with having some currency bloat item to upgrade the current 450 tome gear to 10 ilevels.
kk since I know what is gonna happen for the next 2 years, can we just skip it and go 5.0?
Since a fair few apparently did not notice the islands were already there at the release of Stormblood, you might as well look into the Castaway Chocobo Chick fishing requirements if the minion strikes your fancy. It's fished up at the big island where you had to use the spyglass.
The only thing that legit tilts me more than recycled gear and potential cash grabs is that SE keeps failing to recognize that multi-step turn-ins are absolutely annoying. I'll endure the one-by-one for leves even though it breaks my soul (especially that Whitebrim run), but for a crowded event where the need to get in and get out is fairly high, sitting here doing twenty-seven (or more, but at least six of those are required to advance the story) turn-ins is extremely annoying and there's no reason for it.
Please, either let me buy the items with the thing you already made me craft one piece at a time without quicksynth, or just start putting in the ability to turn in stacks - like you did one of the years previous.
