this has to be addressed asap.
Does anyone stop to consider the fact that people threatening to not sub has something to do with SE, not having a million servers for AK?
Have you even considered the fact that not everyone will sub, and just will stay till they have to pay?
Perhaps the servers we have now will be enough to support a population that will actually pay. It's like spending $500 on food for a party and having only one person show up out of 50.
Wasteful spending is something all companies avoid, I mean its not like a server is something you can return or is it?
Would you rather they spend their entire budget on new servers for one dungeon and have nothing left to develop content?
Once subscriptions start, there is a good chance things will run smoothly.
Off topic, I am curious as to how many people will quit, maybe you can make a thread so SE can see how many people will quit , I'm sure the numbers would help them.
No this is like telling people your having a party for 500 people and only having room and food for 50.. The people came tot he party really excited to only be stuffed and squeezed and starving so they just leave. Players would not be unsubbing is SE had better servers either between lack of free server transfers so players can play with friends or the instance servers taking forever.
Wow, people seriously bring the cost of servers in to this? Like servers cost millions or something (well, they do, but only if you set them up from nothing and for millions upon millions of subscribers) and even if you figure out you have too many servers after idk 2 months it's not like you can't sell them for a decent amount (or use them for something else). Or not like you can't temporarily rent them.
Sure, there will be less people after free month is over, but how many less, that's the question. With how it's going now, the amount of resubbing people goes down daily. How many..idk. How many would stay if SE did things right from the start? Who knows. Not like we have metrics on hand (SE does). But one thing is sure, more and more ppl are quitting even before free month is over coz of things other than the quality of the game itself. Saying spending now is a waste to accomodate people is a self-fullfiling prophecy.
It's just 30 mins for healers, so it's not my problem.
What I hate is that with the long queue times when I have to get up; bathroom, toilet, etc. I come back to see that it had started and I wasn't back in time (40 or so sec to commence). Because of this I have to wait another 1-2 hours to try and get in.
I guess you can never have too many servers, wonder why they didn't just blow their budget on servers. Guess they wasted money on useless things.
the problem is not the amount of instanced dungeon servers, they just need to make the other dungeons reward more tomes to the players.
I'm uninformed.
Retracted.
Completely correct.
Hell. Having to find a group with the duty finder, and waiting 20 to 30 minutes is unacceptable.
Sitting in line for FOUR HOURS (please, refer to my earlier screen shot in the thread. Though I took it 20 minutes early out of frustration. I waited another 25 minutes after that shot before finally giving up) in any regard is hilariously, wildly unacceptable and should be grounds for someone being swirlied in the most popular toilet in their offices.
That they decided to build End Game content behind a door that's apparently only big enough for a few dozen people to fit through at once is stunningly stupid. Just wildly, spectacularly stupid. Every day more people are rushing to 50 (because of how jacked FATEs are), and they all know they have to start running this dungeon. Every day that adds more load onto this specific queue.
That leaves you with stupidly long wait times, only to get into the dungeon to find out whether or not the group will actually be able to get past it to earn the Mythology you're there for.
Nobody should be waiting hours just to find out if they're going to fail, and fail at the one stop-gap dungeon that everyone needs to (repeatedly) do to get past a gear level hump.
And before I'm blinded by the shiny armor and the majestic steeds of the defense force; I have absolutely no issue with having a failed dungeon run. I don't mind dying repeatedly, I don't mind walking new players through the fights, I don't mind the repair fees. I have no issue with failing.
I have serious issues with waiting four hours to find out if that's how I'll be spending my evening.
And I say four hours. I gave up on waiting then because it stopped being pathetically funny and had dipped into "I'm legitimately getting angry" territory . The duty finder beat me. So, I guess Square wins? Or something.
Love how people are saying "Learn to group on your server" as if you read any of the posts ...
4 man group premade Q'ing for a dungeon and still having to wait 30mins+ to get into a dungeon should not be happening. This is what happens when you make only 1 instance provide the only real means to get Mythology tomes. SE should have seen this coming way before hand and instead once again have to try to put in quick fixes to get things going. But they are failing.
To SE: Either add in more instances that can be ran for Mythology or upgrade the servers to handle the thousands of groups trying to get into AK. This is not the first MMO ever made, hell it's not the first MMO you have made, so there really is no excuse for this type of stuff with all the information that has been available for 10+ years. If you pigeon-hole people into one thing you should have been prepared for the things to come!
Hello,
The development team is aware of the long wait times to reserve instances, and as mentioned by Yoshida during the Tokyo Game Show, we'll be increasing the amount of instance servers in mid-October to help alleviate this issue.
The REAL problem is also the fact that AK is the only dungeon worth running.... They could at least start to make Stone Vigil drop 40 philosophy and 10 mythology, basically all dungeon from 41, 44, 47, 50 drop these with variant amounts so that people can at least have choices!! This will make it less of a grind because you can start getting these at 41.
How does adding more servers fix this? On a Monday night, you wait 30 minutes to get an instance for AK with a full party from your server, yet if you instead queued up for any other dungeon, again with a full party from your server, you get in instantly. This getting in instantly would indicate there are still plenty of instance slots to spare. Just adjust the limiter of the number of AK instances available, or adjust the rewards as others have suggested.
I feel your pain Op, longest wait i have had was 185mns for Ifrit HM and the best part was when i finally made it in, our tank asked if anyone was new and when one poor soul said, 'yes, this is my first time here', POOF the tank just left without a word.
So yes please SE, something needs to be done.
I don't understand why people feel the need to farm all 8 of their AK runs on Monday. It's not getting you your gear any faster than spreading them out. I'd like to do 1 run a day, but I don't even bother queuing on Mondays since people just dog-pile in all day long.
How bad was it last week? This is mine from today...

This feels like a troll post, but I'll attempt to be helpful.
There are specific servers that host instances for each dungeon. Yoshida covered this in some of the information that was released during/immediately after early access. Duty finder was causing worlds to crash because it was overwhelmed. So, they split the duty finder to draw from a smaller number of worlds and increased the number of instances that could be supported.
As an example, lets say there is one AK server (I have no idea, but there are probably 100). 1 AK server only has that zone in it. Duty finder takes that group and puts them in that virtualized instance of the AK zone on the server. Each server supports a number of instances as the same time. So one server in the data center might have 100 instances of AK running at the same time.
However, there is a limit to the number of instances each server can support. Early in the week, when everyone is trying to get their 300 tomestones complete, the instances for AK is full, preventing any further groups from entering. In other words, you can't enter one of those 100 AK slots until another group leaves that slot.
By increasing the number of AK-dedicated instance servers, they will increase the number of people that can run AK at the same time.
The end result (to directly address your point) is that it will eliminate wait times for completed groups.
I hope this helps with any consternation on the topic.
It is unfortunate that it will be several more weeks, but my static isn't ready anyway, so I'm not personally affected.
roll something that isn't a dime a dozen?
Queues are near instant for me as a healer..there IS something you can do to change it if you're that tired of it.
People would complain (and are complaining) about lack of content if they focused purely on these kind of issues - If you notice, the timers are only really bad on Myth reset day, not bad throughout the week. If you're DD (DPS) you will almost always have long queue times, this was true even in WoW.
Also, all newly launched MMOs have issues that take awhile to get fixed and some never fixed because they never last longer than a month of two - WoW took awhile to get situated as well.
Duh the issue has been there since release so it is indeed more than a month. The problem with se is they pocket our payments so they ran out of budget for polishing the game.
I know it sucks but that is the way they do business. They get your money and screw you over
ONLY THING THAT WILL FIX IT IS SOMETHING OTHER THEN AK GIVING ToM!
2 hour queue time sucks but its a player made problem i bet the tank you got in the end was queueing for a few seconds like ALL mmo's 85% of the players are DPS 10% healers 5% tanks dps queues will always be stupidly long for that reason.
It was a nice idea in theory to have dungeons and trails apart of the main storyline tho in reality if your a dps at least it WILL lead to stupidly long queue times
please read more, the case here is that instance servers get full, and reach their cap on max amount of instances they can handle at once, so when a new group ques, eve if it's fully formed they still have to wait until more room is made in the server, this happens specifically for AK, due to it's worth in mythology tomestones, and the rush to get em all together as well.
I posted something related a while back.
Please support it if you think it's worth reaching the devs.
