Huh? If you're talking about my post, it's not supposed to be a reply to yours but to contribute to the topic.

This is my main, just started the game recently so I'm not 50 yet. Going to re-vamp all my skill placements and keybinds when I do since Dragoons are very rotation heavy and my final rotation skill is at 50. Just a disclaimer! Eventually the hotbars will be hidden and skills completely remapped (1,2,3 ; alt+1,2,3; ctrl+1,2,3, shift+1,2,3) once I get used to the gameplay and skill sets.

Always loved the classic HUD (the one in ff11 over the new default one, which so likes WoW's that won't suit for today's widescreens.)
Chat log in the bottom and keep both sides clear and nice so that my eyes won't lose focus when I have to read chat logs while playing the game itself. Very straightforward. K.I.S.S.
I try to keep the centre area of my UI as clear as possible and push as much as I can towards the edges.
I found myself switching chat tabs too frequently with a single box setup and not getting alerted to FC, LS, or Party chat messages so I broke everything up so I can see at a glance my channels.
The mob list is between the main sets of hotbars so I can quickly click on the mobs as I do tend to keep my mouse near the middle lower portion of the screen.

I do plan on moving the quest log over to the edge next time I'm in game, but I forgot to do that when I was last there and taking the screenshots.
Additionally, I use a Logitech G500 mouse so I have my thumb keys set to CTRL, ALT, and SHIFT to make it a bit easier to use the different rows.
I may also set up my keyboard to be able to use consumables but I haven't bothered setting that up just yet.
I'm also not a big user of macros (I haven't found any uses for them for myself yet to be honest) as I generally prefer hitting a key when I need it instead of having either a /wait macro or a spam macro. That may change when I end up switching to a DPS or Healer, who knows.
Bringing it back from the dead! Didnt change too much but heres mine. A cluttered mess.

I'm assuming you can do it in windowed mode, you're able to set your pixel count if I recall. That or full screen mode and just adjust your pixel count accordingly.
Oh and I would have posted my UI by now had the payment system not bugged out on me :p
A multi-monitor span is done using Eyefinity (AMD) or Surroundview (NVIDIA). The OS essentially treats your multiple monitors as a single display, which then in turn allows you to run the game across all three. The easiest way to accomplish that is through borderless windowed or full screen mode.
Here is my set up:
http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2822/9...6d7a708c_o.jpg
The chatlog is on the edge of the left monitor and the main menu is on the edge of the right monitor. I try to keep the center screen as uncluttered as possible. :)
I usually have the full map up on the right monitor. I also play with a Logitech G13 game board and G600 mouse, so my hotbars are set up in clusters that make the most sense to me.
My UI. I like to keep it clean. ps. I use a controller.
hmm many great ideas.
Sorry a little off topic but can you disable certain crossbar menus to say only have 2 of them?
For instance as a Tank i have 1 crossbar menu with all my abilities and then i switch to a second one that has target markers
however i have to switch like 3 times to get back to my abilities.
This is on a PS3
My current UI layout:

If you manage to see this Maero, you can certainly do this. Go to the crossbar section in your character config and under "Crossbar customization" (or something to that effect) uncheck any bars that you do not want the R1 cycling to go through. For me, I have universal stuff on my L1+Square crossbar (Mounts, repair, chocobo menu, Limit Break, etc) and disabling that bar means I won't accidentally go to that bar when I don't want to.
A few screens of mine, My UI works with context and class... a lot of playing around with macros, target filtering, quick marking and just values, no mods.

Kind of trimmed down to the extreme...
Here is my UI. I am not fan of some huge changes but I changed the default UI a little. :)
Now it suits my needs.

YAY!!!!!! !!!!!
Well, since I posted; I'm not going to share my UI, but a few observations...
1) You need to always look where you're standing, so other important things should probably be visible at the same time.
-If your health/mana bar isn't nearby you can't watch both
-If you're healing and your party frames are far away you can't watch both
2) There are some things you don't always really need to look at... and they should be further away
-Hotbars; you should know your buttons without looking; sure it's good to be able to see them but you should know what's there without looking too closely
-Minimap; there are some encounters where it's pretty important, but most encounters can be handled without a minimap at all
-There's a lot on the edges of the screen that seem like usefull space, but you need to balance that with being able to see what's hppening around you
3) Aesthetics
-Aesthetically pleasing "pretty" UIs seem nice, and improve gameplay experience, but ultimately functionality should trump aesthetics.
Please guys forgive me for reviving this old thread but... it is time to revive it!

I seen the question earlier about resizing party frames and whotnot. For me, all I need to do is press Ctrl+Home after clicking the UI element I'd like to resize.
You can't scale them precisely, but I think they increment by 10-20%.

being an adventurer is not easy...
Unlike most of you, I prefer a very clean HUD, I want to be able to see as much of the game world and characters as I possibly can. My only real problem is when I want to participate in a FATE I have have my duty list showing to level sync, which is a hassle for me...hopefully SE will/can remedy this with the expansion or during an update.
/levelsync
ALIASES:
/levelsync, /lsync
USAGE:
/levelsync [subcommand]
→Sync your level when the option is available, such as during FATEs.
>>Subcommands:
on Start level sync.
off End level sync.
Toggle between on and off when no subcommand is specified.
[from Play Guide: Glossary of Text Commands, under the "Other" tab on the left side of the page.]
This shows my main part of the UI, but it also displays the workable area of a 4k Screen. A friend of mine wanted to see what it is like, so I am sharing it here if anyone else is interested. The UI Components are at 90% size (most of them, some are 100% as they don't get used often enough for me to care to adjust them)

Time to revive this topic again as I am always looking for some UI inspiration.
I did some upgrades to my old UI as I don't want to have anything in the middle of the screen and also want to be able to zoom in as much as possible without having skillbars all over my character. On the other hand the UI needs to be raid ready which explains why I have important skills on my screen twice, I always see procs and cooldowns without having to look at one place, keeps dodging AoEs and doing mechanics easier.
If anyone wanted to know I am using Razer Naga so I push skills 1-4 on keyboard and 5-12 on side buttons. :)
