Petition: Free server transfers with new servers on Wednesday

I also agree, free transfers is the right thing for Square-Enix to do.

Essentially what they need to do is the same thing Blizzard does in the cases of some servers having super high congestion. SE's already stated they're going to be adding more Worlds so they should setup a system of If you're on X server (X being the super high pop ones IE; Exodus, Leviathan, etc.) you can transfer your character for free to Y server (Y being any of the new servers) for a week or two.

I have to agree completely.

Due to enforced limits imposed by SE being completely unprepared for the launch, vast numbers of people were forced into creating characters on any server that would take them and then due to constant world full issues could not even play those created.

I belong to a large free company, we have over 150 people already with the limitations on being able to create characters on a legacy server. If there are issues with capacity, they need to be talking with the large companies and offering mass moves.

Giving a extra 7 days of "free" access when one can not also relocate characters is a pointless gesture, almost akin to an insult to those who battled with the service since the early access. Not to point out basic math, but the servers opened on the 24th for those of us who preordered and the majority of people already had built a level 20 character from beta 4. That is 12 days, not 7 (not including beta).

I would be all for this, I don't really like the server I'm currently on, partly from the population size, so the first transfer being free would be really nice.

My wife is intending to purchase the game and I may be able to talk some friends into joining as well. I'd like to either move my own character who I've been working on to a low-pop server, or have enough room from my current server freed up via mass exodus for them to be able to play with me.

Come on SE, this one's a no brainer.

I'm very much in the same boat as you.

I convinced my GF, who has never played an MMO before, to get the game so that she can play with me.
She has had the game since launch but has been locked out from making a character and now I am somewhat worried that we won't be able to be on the same server which would pretty much negate the point of her getting the game.

I know I could reroll and hope that we can both get spots on the same server, but should the players really have to reroll and loose what progress they have been able to make and then have to spend more time to regain that progress. I don't feel that we should.

Yes this needs to happen. I just created this account so i can log in and post something about it. Glad someones brought it up.

I've had to create a new character on a different server almost every night just to play. I also have been unable able to play with my buddy who got the game as well. Please allow us to move servers so we can properly start playing. Truthfully speaking its only right.

They have it listed in lodestone that the transfer service will begin MID SEPT - so , no. not soon.

If they didn't do this I'd be amazed at them being that dumb. Though, there's also the assumption they have the work in there now to be ready to transfer players. I mean, they did say server transfer services would come in a month or so, maybe that's not even programmed or worked out well with the servers atm.

I should note, I don't see them having server transfers from JP region to NA/EU or vice versa. More like from a server in JP to another in JP or a server in NA/EU to another in NA/EU (personally I don't care, I have no tie to my server atm).

either open up character creation on all worlds or let me transfer servers.

friends haven't even been able to create a character yet because you disabled my server in like the first hour of launch.

Many people are getting world and sever confused. Keep in mind that one world can work from multiple servers, especially with the way each area is instanced. There might not even be an over crowding issue, but time will tell.

i dunno i mean having 1mil+ ppl trying to switch servers alll that once will more then likely case allot more of the same problems talk about a huge strain on the server... i dont perticularly want to go thru that again i mean rather just take our time let everyone whos locked out still get in first then slowly over time maybe we can deal with that haha... i mean besides not all that hard to lv in this game... lv 1-50 in less then a week hell some ppl just in a few days... with fate grinding. there is no reason to cry for world transfer when i see all these lv 25's crying for it i just wonder why...

This is an MMO. A large part of why MMO's are popular is because of the social aspect to them. This game's awesome, true. But when it comes down to being able to play by yourself or playing with your significant other/friends/co-workers/etc., people are not going to stick around in a social game when they can't play socially. As far as the, "Just reroll, it only takes a week to get to 50" comment, I can guarantee people are going to be more willing to just drop the game and play an alternative with their friends than start over from scratch. A week is a large amount of time for a lot of people, adults with full-time jobs specifically. A week of playtime to get to 50 translates to a month of playtime to someone who works 40+ hours a week. Definitely not worth it to me personally, and I'm one of the people who's been very understanding towards SE during all of the launch issues. Personally, I'll be very sad about it, but if they don't offer some type of transfer option in the next week or two I'll be cancelling my subscription.
