I just had to stop and start the launcher 3 times today (so maybe 5 minutes). I got onto Excalibur at about 5:30 Pacific and am thinking I got insanely lucky. I wasn't able to get on at ALL for the first two days of EA.
Fired up the client at 11pm est. Got 1017, closed the client waited 5 minutes while checking mail/face book etc. Fired it up again, 1017... This time I waited without closing the client about 60 seconds, hit it again, logged in.
Just beat the 1017 boss after trying to log in on and off for about 5 hours. Victory! Got 3 hours til maintenance =(
