Apologies are really nice, don't get me wrong, but they can fall on deaf ears if they don't do something to fix the problem. I think many of us are growing a bit tired of hearing "sorry for the inconvenience."

but now we need a server restart to dc those afk ppl who being afk for a long time...
...nevermind...this is all useless. They dont care....
/shuts down the pc, the ps3, grabs a book.

This definitely sucks but think of how bad the people working on this problem have it. I'm sure there are many people pulling their hair out over this. Although I must say the lack of an AFK auto logout does piss me off a bit. Log out you greedy Bastards! Man I should not have logged out last night!
BUMP
I really, really love this game. It is so much fun, and for once I actually identify with an MMORPG. It's unfortunate that the customer service is so poor with such a great game. It makes sense that no one knows how to fix it. I just wish they would be a little more open with the details, as to why they can't fix the problem and possibly read threads like these, maybe they will get ideas.
Hope I can log in and enjoy the game soon! Once again, great game SE, I'm super happy with it. Just wish the techs would be more open with problems and details.
Being sorry doesn't let us play. The community is starting to feel like a battered spouse that never leaves.
sure Bump...
this need to be fix ASAP

The Reply to JP Players... And I Quote
[NA]Regarding Congestion in Japan Data Center Worlds (Aug. 27)
Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.
*JAPANESE PROMISED MORE SERVERS WITHIN A WEEK*
Square Enix's reply to NA/EU Servers, And I quote...
Currently, we have stopped allowing the creation of new characters in the following worlds:
Ultros
Behemoth
Cactuar
Diabolos
Gilgamesh
Leviathan
Balmung
Excalibur
Hyperion
Tonberry
Mandragora
Bahamut
Chocobo
***THEY REFUSE TO EVEN SERVICE THE NA/EU SERVERS***
Direct Quotes from Square Enix employees showing complete disregard for their western audience
Bumping, because I expect to actually be able to use products I buy...
Want an answer as well, bumping.
They should have known that people would come back to FF14, because people are just tired of FF11! FF11 is a good game, and they did good on it and all, but it has gotten old and boring and thats why people want new stuff. I myself have been getting 1017 as well, but I cannot complain I did get my character to 15 at least. They need to implement a program to boot idle logged in players that are at work, school, etc. tbh! So others might actually play and enjoy the game. I know so many people that stay logged in and go to work, come back, and get on the game, as if nothing happened! Kick these people off SQUARE ENIX!
Well, I tried for 30 minutes playing Final Fantasy 1017. Almost had a winner but blocked by a 10102 connection lost with server. I'm done for the night.
Sadly, I liked playing 1.0 even if it wasn't a good game at least I could login. :(
Bump! We need an answer on this I hate trying and trying with no luck. And besides Iddidn't pay for this.
I would like a timeline regarding the server restrictions. Something that says, we will be lifting restrictions on <insert date> at <insert time> for X amount of logins. Also would be nice to at least have a que over this stupid 1017 error that causes you to just sit idly at your pc trying to log in as you aren't sure what to do.
I get needing to be sure the servers are stable before lifting restrictions but at least give those who are having to wait some form of time frame. Oh and side note, implement a AFK kick. Make is kick people after 20-30 mins so others can play; maybe you won't have this issue.
I would much rather have a queue with 10k people in it and know that I can come back in a couple hours to play instead of having to sit at my computer for hours on end pressing the same button over and over.
They know how many copies of the game were sold, they know how much server/network capacity they need per user, they are Japanese (they can do math), why couldn't they buy the right amount of hardware to support the player population?
Bump. Not asking for much just a little more than "I'm sorry." You can only say sorry so many times...
I swear before that last 1017 my character gave me the finger.
This isn't a bash, the failed launch is bash enough, just my opinion. I don't think your going to see 1017 disappear until the September 9th deadline, for free to play, is up. Right now I think they're just play Devil's Advocate with the limitation on the servers and trying to bide time. I'm sure we'll see them apologize non-stop until the 9th and when half of the players don't subscribe they'll claim a fix and the players that stay will praise them for doing so. Until it happens again(Sound familiar....phase 4).
Bump.
I didn't read all the threads here but please, a server move would be nice if I I'm going to miss all evenings waiting on the login screen.
I have to be honest the game is awesome in every aspect, story, lore, gameplay, character and areas design, there's a lot of good stuff in this game but having log in issues is one of the worst bugs we could have, is very annoying not even get to be in queue, I wouldn't mind waiting in the queue if I knew that at certain point I would be able to enter.
SE needs to fix it really fast, there's a lot of people that is not too attached to the game yet, im a legacy player I can bare more than new players because I am already hooked with it, although there's a limit to everyone patience, don't test it too much...
... and they just closed more worlds to new character creation with no ETA on when there will be more servers added. If nothing else, their communications with the player base are a papasmurfing failure.
I wonder how much of our perception of communications failures and indifference is based on the language barrier? Perhaps they should have added some North American support staff before the launch.
Logged in earlier today and I had absolutely no problems. Get home tonight and I'm hit with 1017 error. Is this ever going to be resolved in a timely manner? There's absolutely no reason why on the day of the launch ANYONE and EVERYONE who has purchased this game can't log in. Please SE hear our cries and give us more then "We're sorry", the apologies are starting to be extremely repetative IMO. I'm not bashing the game, I in fact love this game, the character and world detail, the story, the gameplay, all of it. They knew going into lauch that the servers couldn't support the amount of players to be expected so why wasn't and why still hasn't something been done to fix these issues. At this point anything is better then the repetative "We're sorry" nonsense.
BUMP!
Back to guild wars 2 I go because at least there I can login without having an issue.
Bump, because it's mind-boggling that we haven't heard anything substantial yet.
Looking forward to some sort of meaningful response from SE.

*shakes head* all that time and effort to rebuild and this terrible server nonsense is ripping down everything they built up. Nearly all the negative reviews are because of the servers.
SE, we know you can communicate and you do it well when you actually speak. So please, speak up and let us know what you are doing. We are reasonable - for the most part - so please, talk to us. What are you doing to fix this? Tick tock.
It's sad that integral ( or so I thought) systems like afk kick and a functioning queue were around long before this game launched the first time, let alone the second. I hope someone doesn't come on here and tell me these things were present in 1.0, I'm not sure I'd know how to properly process that information. Though I seem to remember being able to add/drop quests from my tracker in P3 but never since then. How did that happen?
Bumping because hardly any game publishers provide adequate product information to their customers. Just tell me what's wrong and what you're doing to fix it. You know, like a mechanic, dentist, or... pretty much any other paid service professional. Above all, please fix it. There's a good game in there, I can feel it.
I got on at midnight EST last night and played for about 12 hours without a single hiccup, tried logging in today at 10:00 pm EST and am hitting the 1017 wall
What do the numbers mean, Mason? What do the numbers mean?!
You really think if they haven't responded to countless other similar threads your random bumping of this one is going to do jack?
So yeah, still getting the 1017. I went downtown met up with some friends at the bar and had a few. That A/C! Wow! Bumpin with Sumthin.

What really shocks me and makes me angry is that we even have a 1017 code. There is absolutely no reason for that. Queue systems have been in existence for over a decade now. I don't care if I have to wait in queue for an hour to play. Just put me in a damn queue so that I know I will get in.
I spent 11 hours on Sunday trying to get in to the game. I am not impressed by this. I love this game but SE if you don't at least implement a real queue system for logging in, you're going to lose a LOT of customers.
I already know 2 people that cancelled their pre-orders due to this. Also, not allowing character creation on a server??? I have never seen that before. That is extremely dumb. There is no reason for that. Especially if you have a real, working queue system like you should.
(Sorry for the rant. I just tried to relog to get my collector's items since a couple of people in my FC said they were able to relog just fine and now I can't log in to get them. I'm a bit pissed off.)
