She managed to get it bumped up to Japan HQ on her second time of calling up support.

Please let us know if Japan HQ tells her anything differently!
I am not optimistic one bit.
I had to buy the CE edition as well, there was no way to upgrade at Early Access, and there still is no way to upgrade it for me. Also, no more Legacy status which I had in Beta, like wth SE. A MOD needs to respond to this thread, this is a ridiculous issue.
so i have an 1.0 account, if i want to use the code, i need to create a new account?
Can SE just fix this please it's so annoying, just want to register my CE ARR code and get my in-game items!
this is bullshit, never seen so bad of a start in a mmo, server craches are common, but this kind of things... if you buy the game today you cant even play bc you cant create a char... all of the eu servers are full
from their web page listing all the pricing options for the different versions of the game. If people stopped to read about the different versions, as in find out why there are 9 different versions of the game to buy, we wouldn't have this problem to begin with.

** The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to digital Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
where can i upgrade my 1.0 account to the ce?
If you have a 1.0 account, and bought the CE Physical Edition your screwed till they fix it (if they ever). They want you to pay another 20 bucks to upgrade digitally for whatever dumb reason.
nope, ive bought the standart ed digital
i dont think so, i have the sed, but i cant activate it to my legacy account
I do have something to add to this discussion though. I wish they would offer a different set of CE items for those of us who buy the CE Upgrade and the PS3 CE edition for the Collectibles that it comes with.
In the same boat, give us the option to redeem the codes on existing 1.0 accounts.
Yes, but they only mention 1.0 accounts that already have a CE. The main problem is for people who have a 1.0 standard account and want to upgrade now using the new physical copy of the CE. Forcing us to use the digital upgrade means that essentially they are forcing us to fork out an additional amount of cash to get items we already paid for... Which is just plain stupid and bad business practice if you ask me.
the worst part of it all is that i submitted a ticket and they won't answer back :S and no official response to the issue either.
Having this same problem. This seems like an extremely poor way to treat people who've been around since 1.0 and are giving you a 2nd chance.
I ordered the digital CE from amazon, went to add it to my account and ended up with a 2nd service account. Amazon is saying they don't give refunds for digital downloads, so I'm out of luck there.
There was a support page where you could go if you accidentally added a service account, and request they be merged, which I did... but I'm not holding out hope. They really need to fix this somehow, and make it right. Telling people who've ALREADY bought a collectors edition that they're SOL and need to give you ANOTHER $20 to get what they already paid for is unacceptable.
I believe the digital version works in 1.0 accounts (someone already posted how to do it), its the physical box that has the problems.
Bolded the problem with the product description. Like mentioned before, only place I know where the issue with old accounts was ever officially brought up to the public was in the 1.0 forums.
Considering that apart from customer support, forum writers like me are the ones notifying people of the issue, it was just poor communication and a predictable problem that beta testers mentioned before.
no, to my knowledge this issue has to do with all registration codes in PC CE versions. unless they changed it without notifying us.
But if you have a link to this let me know, I will update OP to reflect this news.
If some people are getting through they are either using the digital account upgrade (maybe calling it digital download by mistake) or just dropping their old account to start a new service.
Or still, using the PS3 CE digital download and linking their old account to the new one created for PS3.
There are people with standard accounts created during the early access that could not register the CE code, or registered it wrong and made a second account instead.
Those guys should now be getting fixes or a clear explanation on how to register it correctly.
Thanks for your efforts Talaya for solving this for us! I submitted a ticket yesterday and still awaiting an response.
Than you think they would get the message.
Thanks for trying to help, but some of us bought digital as a pre-order to get the pre-order bonus/early access. Furthermore, some bought the physical CE to have a physical copy/goodies. I think most of us were aware we could do the upgrade from 1.0 on launch day, but we were NOT aware we could not link our digital or physical CE with our 1.0 accounts. I wouldn't be in this boat if they had offered non-Legacy 1.0 members a way to get pre-order items and early access.
Personally, I have a digital CE PC code for my 1.0 PC game and cannot activate the CE, but could activate pre-order, much like everyone here. Supposedly they are reviewing my support ticket, but I have a feeling I'm going to end up having to try and sell this CE code. :(
^ This. Some of us noticed a very long time ago that the "Digital Upgrade" to the CE version wasn't pre-orderable, meaning 1.0 Standard Account holders wouldn't be able to play in early access if we opted to wait for official release and do the Digital Upgrade. And so me (and it seems like many others) opted to preorder and pay extra ($20 versus $50 for CE Digital Download or even $80 for the physical CE) so that we could get the CE bonuses in addition to keeping our 1.0 accounts as well as getting early access.
This really shouldn't be as big of an issue to fix as SE is apparently making it out to be. I'm hoping it gets resolved soon, but it's a slight relief to know I'm not alone in this problem. I was really frustrated that I couldn't register my CE code from my Amazon purchase of the digital download of the CE. I come here and lo' and behold, it's a widespread problem.
Figures. Please SE, set a better precedent with your customer service this time around. Some of us still have nightmares of calling SE customer support in FFXI.
I had a 1.0 account and pre ordered the physical pc CE back in may for all the in game items and early access. I went on the Mog station site to enter my key and I'm a dumbass (SE's vague dumb layout doesn't help) and registered my CE key to a whole new service account... Sent in a ticket and queued up in live chat to see if they can upgrade my standard account and get rid of the new one I created on accident.
Other games like WoW had options for people that wanted to upgrade from standard to CE and even FFXI had an option to overwrite existing reg keys with new ones. I bought the SOA expansion where it gives you the chocobo shirt and all of the previous add ons (even though I already had them all) ect and it worked fine.
Why Sqaure... Why must you be like this :(
Because they overlook industry standards its good thing Square Enix has a lot of money because they have terrible support.
Update: Was in live chat queue for hours, got to number one and was told that no representatives where available and got re queued in behind 193 people. I'm an impatient person, so I'm just going to cancel my ticket and pay the dumb 20 dollars to upgrade... I'm not too upset seeing online gaming is a cheap alternative to going out with friends in regards to entertainment.
Hope you guys get all of your stuff sorted out.
Any news on this? Thinking about selling my codes and just purchasing the digital CE but to be honest this is just plain stupid...
Come on Square Enix, set this right!
I wish I did not open mine!
