Forcing everyone to craft, Is it good direction for FFXIV?

Honestly, crafting is boring for me at the moment, its ok for me to do it once in a while but to craft the same Item 300 times for one lv is nothing for me.
But there a enough people who have fun with it and actually are doing the repairs and I think i give good Gil for it.
And Crafters are important, the NPC is not really an Option and i hope that it keeps that way.
And I never needed to wait more than an Hour.

I dont craft anymore, I get repairs very easily (almost always within 5 to 10 min) and gear easily as well. I just put a reasonable price as the reward.

No one's being forced to craft and gil is plentiful despite the high repair prices. At the moment it's one of the few ways to take gil out of the game, which is completely necessary to balance the economy.

Repairs and degrading gear isn't a game feature or a modern game mechanic. If this game hopes to survive they are going to have to take out gameplay from 2002 and modernize or else remain a niche product or maybe shut it off. They also promised a solo friendly game and having to hunt crafters down while out in the wild and have items x, y and z to repair an item isn't going to win them any new players. Just because it isn't a problem for the die hards still with the game that doesn't help with the state of the game or it's survival. Square remove time wasters like this. There are much better ways to remove gil from an economy of an modern mmo. Let's wake up to the fact the game needs saving and not defend game mechanics that aren't going to bring anyone else into the game. Most modern players aren't going to waste their time with grindy gameplay and stupid repair concepts like this.

Care to define "modern"? Or you're just using it as a meaningless catchword to try and make a flawed point without having an argument?

Repairs aren't a money sink (money is kept in the market with repairs). They are a way to encourage synergy between crafter and adventurers. Which is a good thing.

The only way for repairs to be a "time waster" is if you offer too little for the repair. Anything over 5k will get your stuff repaired in no time at all.

I've never repaired my stuff at an npc, I only have weaver and leatherworker to 20 or so, and various other crafts in the teens, goldsmiths get all my money being a THM who didn't level it very high. I stand at the most crowded places with one of my various 3 handy dandy extra weapons in my bazaar, stand at a camp, it will be repaired, and if not get off your dead server. On selbina random people repair my crap all the time, I get up to go pee and someone has repaired my stuff, sometimes I think they were just waiting for me to be afk so I couldn't /bow and thank them lol.
